They were in love, hopelessly so. They thought nothing would ever tear them apart. Naive, just like how lovers always are. But somewhere in them, a small little part of them knew. They knew they were falling apart. They knew things just weren't the same anymore. They felt the distance between them grow longer, almost tangibly so - but neither felt the power in them to try and close it again.    

He's always watching those couples on the streets, holding hands, smiling gleefully. He watches, in silence.       I don't know why, but the moment my eyes landed on her, I coudn't tear them away. Amidst the throng of people in the crowd, somehow, she was the only one I could see. She stood there. Calmly returning my gaze. Not at all phased. That's how it all began.
