much like parallel lines, they walked side by side, but they never crossed. despite hanging around the same crowd and being classmates for the longest time possible, they never truly had a conversation besides borrowing a pencil or passing down notes in class. after six years of being classmates through middle school and high school, their relationship finally came to an end. but she never said a word about her feelings towards him; and just like that, her one sided love drew to an undeniable end as he left for further studies in america.

years after, she finds herself as a subordinate for him, secretary actually - who she eventually realizes is loaded with cash. he someone sweeps into every sticky situation she can possibly find her buttery fingers stuck in and he helps her out everytime. under the pressure of his subordinates doubting his authority based purely off his age and inexperienced love life, he ends up going around looking for a wife. he has tried blind dates many times with women his parents, and even grandparents, had set him up with. but all seemed after two main things: his money and his face.

after his constant whining about this to his past high school friends, who happen to be his only friends, because he spent his college years in america. one of his friends, knowing sooeon's crush on him, offhandedly joked about asking him to ask sooeon out instead. "i mean, you guys are ( somewhat ) friends, isn't it more comfortbale that way?" he says and that seemed to make sense to him. and thus he made this romantic proporsal thing catching sooeon complete off guard, only to end everything off with a "but you can't fall in love with me," thinking it would be a fun joke.

she eventually agrees because he looked very desperate despite the goofy smile he wore on his face. and also because she saw it as an opportunity to get closer to him, even if it meant a very, very slow way, or even if it meant the outcome of this whole shenanigans would result into only just a friendship. they eventually got married and it goes smooth sailing for weeks before sooeon starts to see too much into his actions, mistakening his affection as a friend to be one of a boyfriend. he doesn't say anything to clarify his feelings, she doesn't say anything as well because she's too shy.

they go on just like that. two months into their relationship, sooeon finally confesses after having found the right time ( they were at some restuarant that his friend had newly open - good atmosphere, nice food etc ) only to be rejected. the rest of the evening is hell as they rush to finish their food and leaving. the following morning, sooeon acted as if nothing happened - she didn't bring up her confession, she tried to avoid the topic of last night's events. he tries to console her about it, but then she finds a way to escape from that situation. and that continues.
