About Me

Who is Scheherazade?

Legend has it that once upon a time, a Persian king would marry a every day only to have her beheaded the day after. He always felt betrayed by these women. Was he a philanderer? Probably. To be honest, the whole "I was betrayed" alibi sounded like a pure bull. Well anyway, he was king. He could do everything he wanted, right?

Enter Scheherazade, the vizier's daughter. She was a voracious reader, treasuring every story fiction or non-fiction by heart. Against her father's wishes, she decided to marry the king and put an end to his, well, madness. Of some sort.

Every night, she would tell her different stories, stopping when she reached the middle part. She would reason out that the dawn is already breaking and they should already retire to bed, thus making the king spare her life for the story's continuation. This went on for a thousand and one nights.

Oh yes, darling. You got it right. This is the legend of the famous Thousand and One Nights or the Arabian Nights story collection.

At the end of 1, 001 nights, she told him she's got no more stories to tell. The king fell in love with her and they lived happily ever after. With three sons. Yay.
