I agree with @AFFsuck
Talk to the author of the story before reporting - communication goes a loooong way and can fix a lot of stuff. No reason to report people if a simple "heads-up" work just the same.
I think they should tell the author first and foremost, and so give them a chance to change it before one go play wannabe cop on them. Obviously it is a mistake not to give the story the proper marking, but I don't see how it is insensitive? Not everyone is as overly sensitive as those reporting. Those who do write triggering stuff, /always/ include warnings, etc at the beginning. People are reading at their own risk.
Everyone is at fault in some way in my eyes, reporters are just often too blinded to see that, too busy playing victim - and hero on behalf of a bunch of "little kids".
I even saw a reporter go all out saying a story had inspired people to do crime in some way, which is a far reach and a little funny. Many users have formed too strong a bond with that report button, which this poll just come to show lol. To me it shows people lack thinking, really.
(And, yes, I am perfectly well aware I am alone on this, but who cares. I just isn't as judgemental as others, I guess.)
I don't think there should be a category of triggers bc its way harder to get your story out there like wtf?? But it should be compolsery to put the triggering themes in the foreword AND at the start of every chapter
Well, you could message the author and maybe explain that they should have it marked? Then if they fail to fix it, then report the story? I have written a few stories with the trigger warning option marked and if someone messaged me saying that one of my stories needed it, I wouldn't hesitate to fix it for them! I just want to make my stories a safe place for readers, and that includes marking any warnings that should be stated :)
