— Chaemin is a fairly tall girl who is slightly chubby for an idol as she still has some baby fat and she hasn't trained for that long. Her height is 164cm and her weight is 50kg, and she will be 168cm tall and 48kg when she is fully grown. As of trance's debut, her hair is dyed dark brown and cut to shoulder length with bangs.

bckground. Chaemin was born in 2006 to two elder sisters, Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong. As a baby and toddler, Chaemin often watched her sisters learning choreographies to famous 2nd generation songs, and once she was old enough to walk, she started joining their dance practises and trying to imitate their movements. When Chaemin was 6 years old, her elder sisters auditioned for Fantagio but were rejected, later being accepted to JYP Entertainment in 2014. This spurred Chaemin to be an idol too, as she wanted to stand on the same stage as her sisters. She told her parents she wanted to be an idol like them, and they sent her for vocal and dance classes. Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong participating in Sixteen and Chaeyeon later participating in Produce 48 further inspired Chaemin to become an idol, and she herself eventually auditioned for JYP at the age of 13 and was accepted. After six months of training, Chaemin was chosen to attend a special audition, and she was chosen as JYP's representative in a temporary (?) girl group called trance.

what was their trainee life like? How long were they a trainee?

— Chaemin trained at JYP since December 2018.

Having prior training in dancing and singing since the age of 8, Chaemin surprised everyone with how polished her skills were at her young age and as a new trainee. However, due to her quarrelsome personality, Chaemin often got into fights and would even challenge her trainers. Her quarreling back when scolded often made for laughter among the other girls, although it did earn her several punishments too. However, Chaemin didn't see the punishments as a burden, and in fact would proudly take them on. Which is probably the reason why she managed to secure a place in trance after just six months of training.

— Chaemin is under JYP Entertainment. Getting chosen was a very proud moment for her and she was pretty smug due to her getting chosen despite only training for six months.
