cheung yizhou was born on april 19th, 2006 in sai kung district of hong kong. she is the third child in a family of four kids, having two older sisters of five and two years, aijiao and luying and one younger brother of one year, enqian. the family of six lived in a small yet comfortable house in hong kong, with her father cheung haibin being a security guard and her mother lau meiyu working as a marketing associate.
for some reason, yizhou had always wanted to be famous. she always had a fascination with the film and music industry and wanted to pursue it as a career. and ever since she could talk, she would ask her parents if she could start either an acting or singing career. her parents were hesitant to agree, but in the end they said no because yizhou was too young for that industry and they didn't want her to be in a vulnerable position as a young female. but, yizhou and her parents came to an agreement that she could take acting and singing lessons instead, and she took classes at the age of six.
throughout the years, yizhou had been less interested in her childhood dreams. and by the time she entered high school, yizhou had dropped out of the classes and continued on like normal. but when she turned 18, her father had jokingly mentioned that now that she's of age, yizhou can finally fulfill her childhood dreams. though he was joking, deep down yizhou was still longing for someone sort of fame. so, she decided to become a k-pop idol since she found that more interesting than acting.
yizhou auditioned for a handful of companies and accepted a trainee contract with be:lift lab in early 2024. with an okay form her parents, yizhou moved to south korea to finally become famous.
