aerin is an all-around friendly person. she genuinely cares about people, no matter who, and is always willing to help them with their troubles or struggles if she can. she’s empathetic and understands, to some extent, what many people are going through and often tries to make other people feel better. she also has a knack for noticing things that other people might not, like body language and tone inflections, which causes her to understand how someone is feeling at some point in time.

she also is not the type to just abandon someone close to her; if she's made a promise, she will follow through no matter what, and she'll do her part to the best of her abilities. she doesn't know the definition of 'giving up' and will always put forth her best effort into anything she does. this makes her a great leader-type of person as she will absolutely complete any task given to her.

however, she is sensitive about criticism and comments about herself, and in particular, she dislikes being told that she’s wrong or has done something wrong. she tries not to be the mood spoiler, but oftentimes, she'll just wake up on the wrong side of the bed and snap at everyone who approaches her. other times, she'll have a very pessimistic outlook on life that makes everyone around her feel terrible. thankfully, these moods never last much longer than a day (unless there's something major happening in her life).

having grown up as the only child, she can also be selfish and naive. of course she knows that she should be caring, but her priority is still herself and her own feelings/well-being. she sometimes focuses on herself so much that it causes arguments with other members. since she grew up protected, she also gets scammed a lot, since she doesn't realize that sometimes life is just out to get her and other people are mean. she believes that the world is generally good, and is often sorely disappointed when life doesn't turn out as such.

aerin is quite lively and spirited. she’ll often be the moodmaker or the argument mediator. she didn’t have super good grades in school, but everyone knew her and most people liked her, so she had a lot of friends. she’s also been told that she’s a motor mouth and would make a good a rapper. in truth, aerin doesn't usually have a lot of urgent things to say; sometimes speaking out just helps her process her thoughts.

BACKGROUND. 

in general, aerin's childhood life was quite normal. as single child, she had her parents' full attention and grew up well-loved. her parents were normal office workers who wanted their child to have a highly-respected career in the future, like a doctor or a scientist, so they pushed her to do her best in school. however, after seeing girls generation on TV, aerin's dream changed; she wanted to be a singer.

to her credit, she was quite a pretty child and modelled for a local clothing shop from ages 9-12. this allowed her to be scouted by woollim entertainment when she was only 13. although her parents disapproved of this, the company took her youth into account and allowed several changes to be made to aerin's training schedule (for instance, she could live at home, she would train after school and on the weekends to make sure academics was still her main priority, and she wouldn't be put on a diet) for her to become a trainee.

thus, her parents reluctantly allowed aerin to become a trainee. as a result, she grew up with infinite and lovelyz as older brothers and sisters/peers and became a talented singer. being in the presence of so many talented people furthered aerin's dream of making it big in the industry, especially since she started so young and had an advantage over ppl who might have started training later. however, despite aerin's wishes, her parents prevented her from debuting in lovelyz; they believed that she'd had her fun in the idol industry and now it was time for her to go to college and return to a normal life.

hurt by this interference and unwilling to give up, aerin instead auditioned for yg entertainment and, after passing, moved into the yg dorms.

aerin's relationship with her parents is slightly conflicting. she loves them, of course, and knows that they love her, but they try to force their own goals on her and don't really understand her wishes. although they allowed her to train as an idol from a young age, they were perhaps a bit overprotective and blocked her from debuting in lovelyz. she knows that they just don't want her to get hurt, but it doesn't stop it from hurting, and she had been low-contact with them from that point on until her debut in e2w.


infinite / kpop group / 6-9/10

aerin essentially grew up with infinite, with them caring for her like she was their little sister. her relationship with them varies, but in general, she's closest with myungsoo (L) and not super close with dongwoo.

(hoya might be a touchy subject, and although i included him in the pic above, i'm going to make her the least close with him, so you don't have to write him if you don't want to.)


lovelyz / kpop group / 7-9/10

aerin trained with lovelyz and almost debuted with them, so she considers them part of her family. they messed around together like real sisters, and she's still in a group chat with them today. in general, she's closest with babysoul (particularly babysoul), kei, and sujeong.


pinklove (22) / e2w / seo jisoo / 8/10

due to several other trainees' jealousy of them for various reasons, aerin and pinklove became close almost to out of necessity; if they didn't become friends, there would be no one else for them to be friends with. it would be a lie to say that aerin wasn't also jealous of pinklove at some points, but in some ways, pinklove's courage to stay at a company where she was essentially hated gave aerin the courage to stay at yg as well.

when aerin and jen get along, they get along. however, when they don't get along, they really don't get along. they're sort of like the crack duo, and although they have a lot in common, having basically grown up in the industry, they don't like to admit it.

aerin can be seen as the mom friend of the group, despite not being the oldest, since she just gives off those vibes. she's still a crackhead inside, though, and typically the moodmaker/mediator of the group, so when aerin gets angry, that's an unfortunate day because the entire vibes of the group will be off.

AERIN

TRAINEE HISTORY.

aerin was scouted by woollim at quite a young age due to her visuals. at first, she was content to just train and learn since she was still young, and her parents didn't want her to debut yet. she wanted to sing, so she mainly focused on training her vocals, but due to her young, impressionable age, she ended up being fairly decent at dancing and rapping as well, although she prefers to be known for her vocals.

she became close to the infinite members and grew up with lovelyz, treating both like the siblings she never had. in fact, she was slated to debut with lovelyz in 2014, but was cut from the lineup as her parents still believed that she was too young to debut. disappointed, she only stayed one more year in woollim before leaving to try her chances elsewhere, as it had become obvious that woollim had no plans for a second girl group.

after auditioning for and entering yg, aerin was immediately a strong contender for a blackpink member. this earned her the jealousy of several other trainees. however, after giving her all, due to not fitting the image of a girl crush group, aerin was once again dropped from the lineup. burnt-out and facing pressures from her parents to return to a normal life, aerin seriously considered dropping out of yg.

but this had been her life for so long that she almost didn't know how to live without it, so aerin dragged herself through that difficult year and made it worth it.

LOVE STORY. 

aerin and yugyeom first met in 2017, right after e2w debuted and got7 was promotion (either never ever or you are, depending on when e2w actually debuts). they became friends but didn't really interact in person at first and mostly texted. you wouldn't think they'd get along but if you think that, you'd be wrong! they are both crackheads and gentle people so of course they'd get along!

for a long time, their friendship was just talking about the difficulties of spending their childhoods in the kpop industry, and ranting to each other about various parts of their life (and their groups) and comforting each other. they started to hang out more irl instead of just texting, and basically no one outside of their groups knew that they were friends, and they preferred it that way.

however, as friends do, they committed the grave sin of gasp getting caught hanging out together!!! in 2019, a bit after got7's you calling my name promotions, they were spotted getting coffee and going shopping together. cue the uproar! are they dating? they must be dating! there can be no pure friendship between a man and a woman! when their respective companies asked them whether or not it was true, they decided that they might as well give the netizens what they wanted; plus, this would give them excuses to hang out without having to hide.

so they started to fake-date, but in reality, they were still friends. the only difference was that they started to see each other in person a lot more, rather than only communicating through text and video calls. as time went on, the proximity effect began to take over; aerin felt like she was becoming attached to him. she wasn't sure what this meant for their friendship, so she chose to hide it.

unbeknownst to her, he was going through the same dilemma! wow imagine that. they hid their feelings for each other for the first half of 2020, but then got7's imminent departure from jyp made aerin panic (even though she knew he wasn't going to leave seoul), and she confessed her feelings. then they got together for real HAHAHA.  

STATUS. started fake-dating in 2019, real dating in 2020

ENDING. hopefully still together!

RELATIONSHIP TRIVIA.

- e2w fans were divided on how to feel about them; ahgases were generally pretty chill; it was random netizens who were really super rude about it

COMMENTS. HI I DIDN'T EXPECT TO GET THIS DONE SO FAST?????? honest to god aerin's not the most interesting character i've ever made, but i think her relative blandness serves to highlight the interesting parts of the group >:) and also gives the reader a bit of a break from the chaos.
