　♮ domin ︰ her last name combined with the first letter of her name. this nickname was developed late in elementary schoolwhen her classmates learned there was actually two minseo's in their classroom. minseo's classmates decided to call her this in order to decipher between the two, of course with the other girl getting a nickname of the same concept. this sticks with her throughout middle school.
  ♮ laughing fairy ︰ the explanation is in the compliation videos of minseo laughing at anything and everything on 16tv. fans become enamored by her wide-mouthed, obnoxious laugh accompanied by minseo assaulting someone's arm with smacks. the members by claiming this trait of hers makes her a bit innocent. she's sixteen's reaction queen. 
    ♮ crane ︰ older, but shorter members claim often point out how they are jealous that minseo has a short torso and is mostly stick-skinny legs. though started by fans of early days 16tv, based on her envious body porportions, one of the funnier members always mentions how minseo is shaped like a crane. their also jealous of how she can eat so much and seemingly can never gain weight, naturally keeping that physique. this is the first nickname given to her on 16tv.

after multiple attemps of the myer-briggs personality test, minseo keeps getting both infp and enfp, so she guesses she can be both extroverted and introverted. it really depends on the day and her mood. minseo is a true chameleon in that way; able to adapt to situations and match people's energy. maybe that is why most of the girls of sixteen were able to get to know her and get along with her right off the bat.

immediately when meeting her you can tell that minseo is a truly a good-natured idealistic person. almost naively so. she seems like someone who is extremely optimistic and does not have an evil bone in her body. you could blame it on how sheltered she grew up, but she can be naively postiive. she can have trouble with balancing reality with her optimism, only seeing the good and not considering the bad. this can lead to her being hurt in the end, as she tends to give more than others.

at her core, she is really self-less and mainly perseptive of other people's needs. so much so, that she tends to put everybody else's needs above her own. minseo is really dutiful, obedient, and reliable in that sense. out of all of maknae line, seunghwa would say minseo listens to her the most. minseo is a text book people pleaser. she likes playing it safe and follow the rule, that way she won't cause any unnecessary conflict. it could be the only child in her... it could be the surpressed abandoned child in her... you ask her to do the dishes of 12 girls, and she will do it with no outward remark. she's the most trustworthy friend; most members come to her when they need to just rant, knowing minseo will just quietly listen. 

she's too nice and hardly ever gets mad, but that's her weak point. originially minseo is an opinionated and outgoing person; she's not afriad to speak when she wants to (sometimes too much, actually). but she is also a mediator, never wanting to rock the boat or change the atomsphere. this is the people-pleaser in her. this also results in minseo harboring certain darker feelings alone. this also results in minseo going from passive to passive-aggressive when she finally does get mad. not a great development, especially when living and working with 11 girls. 

the sagitarrius in her makes her naturally a free-spirit. never been into the traditional outlook on life, minseo has always been driven by her need to explore. she was always a curious kid, which developed into an introspective girl who is always in her head. but she is an expressive girl, always sharing her philosophy on life, always staying open-minded. *cue the many late night livestreams* but this can quickly turn into over-thinking for minseo; becoming self-critical and  doubting her own confidence. her self-critical aspect is what minseo contributes to her fast growth on 16tv, never wanting to bring the team down. though a great motivator for the girl, she can often push these critical thoughts to someone else, expecting everybody to think the way she does. 

on the outside, minseo is the "everyday girl" or the "girls next door". she cries, she gets scared, she gets bored, she feels ignored, etc. she is still young and bright because she is just know experiencing the world. she can be naive and about it though, having a few dumb blonde moments. but she's loved for being spunky and a little quirky. that's her appeal.  that's why people love her. insp. mark lee

BACKGROUND

born in haeundae, busan, minseo's life was a little different from her friends. she grew up near the beach raised only by a single mother and her maternal grandmother. she did not have a father, as far as she knew. her mother never spoke of him and minseo never asked out of respect, but she's never had a fatherly figure in her life. but she was raised by strong two women. women who ran a popular coffee shop near the beach, making good enough money to be a tourist destination.

all minseo knows for a fact is that her mother and father met each other while at art school in seoul. they were young, maybe too young, and minseo figures it probably scared her father. he couldn't handle being someone's father while he could barely take care of himself at age 20. her mother never graduated, coming back home to busan to receive support from her own mother. it's been the three of them ever since. 

they lived a pretty modest life, but minseo grew up with everything she needed. and minseo was always content; she never felt she needed more than this. her mother felt more like a best friend and not a authortive figure. that was reserved for her grandmother. she grew up feeling optomistic, her mother always telling her that she could do whatever she put her mind to. minseo didn't feel like she had a specific purpose, she was just living her life. she figured she would end up doing art, like her mother because of the connection they have with it. that was until winter of 2016.

in the first week of winter break 2016, minseo and her mother went on a weekend trip to seoul, just the two of them. this was when minseo was given an opportunity that would change her life. to this day, she doesn't know what was necessarily appealing about her, but she was approached by a pledis entertainemnt casting director. she took the card, but she wasn't planning on auditioning. she had no talent, and absolutely no idea about anything really. after she came home from that trip, she was pushed into at least auditioning after encouragement from her mom and best friend (and not her grandmother). "if i had an opportunity just fall into my lap... any opportunity, i would take it. i would at least try."  so she auditioned with the little talent and knowledge she had. and suprisingly to minseo, she passed and immediately started her journey at pledis: working on becoming a person who deserved her opportunity.

APPEARANCE growing up, minseo never thought much of herself. she never thought she was particularly pretty, but people would compliment her sometimes (and she wouldn't take the compliment). she just feels really regular degular. but that's part of the charm. she's pretty, but in a subtle, natural, girl-next-door type of way. she's leggy, with longer legs than torso. and very boney with long limbs, every korean teen girl's dream; standing at 170cm, and very petite in size at 45kg. she has the proportions to become an aspiration to fans, while not seeming too unattainable.

she has a soft friendly look about her, minseo, almost mousy in a sense. with a small face, the size of a grown man's fist and a rather cute round button nose, but slender nose bridge. her eyes are cute, the size of a deer's in headlights; big and round appearing innocent. though having a small face, her round baby cheeks take up most of her face. her bottom lip is fairly plump in contrast to her barely nonexistent upper lip, punctuating her mousy visual. she has large ageyo sal due to her chubbier cheeks (also resulting in bigger eye bags that minseo hates). nothing about minseo is especially spectacular, but it's the details and the natural everyday visual that will appeal to young girls. 


FASHION to add to it, minseo is not particularly fashionable. if you were to ask her what is her style, she'd just shrug. "whatever i find that is comfy." conversely, some members call her the "fashion terrorist", something they probably shouldn't say anymore. but they find that minseo does not know how to dress, even if it is casual. she tends to not know how to style certain pieces together, so instead of looking of the times, she tends to look a bit dated in her clothes. 
this could be due to minseo's love of thrift shopping, but even sitll, it is how she chooses to wear the pieces rather than the pieces themselves. her clothes tend to be baggy and not flattering, sometimes pulling off the tomboy look and other times... not. she does not accessorize much, but when she does the item tends to be wild, not matching the outfit. minseo is not the type to hyper fixate on what she wears too, so she doesn't see the problem. she tries and it doesn't look too great, or she doesn't try and is just in sweats. that is, until the stylists try to help her for airport looks. overtime, she starts to see the importance of styling, learns some things, and her fashion improves. she later starts to develop an artsy, tomboy, kinda boho aestethic. think son chaeyoung.

OTHER minseo has a few noticeable moles that make her stand out: one on her left chin, one underneath her right eyebrow, and a pretty famous heart-shaped one on her shoulder (it has it's own instagram full of stills of minseo when her shoulders are out). as of 2016, she has only a single ear piercing. eventually, she gets her right ear stacked from the upper earlobe to the helix (around 2020). her skin is a clean slate until 2021, when her and her mom get matching tattoos'. they both have half of a butterfly wing on the inside of their left wrists.

LIKES
　♮ coffee due to her family owning a coffee shop, she's grown up her early teen years working as a barista. her go to drinks are hazelnut iced coffee or mint chocolate frapuccino.
    ♮ mint chocolate despite how others may feel about it, minseo is a mint chocolate feen and will defend it until the end of time.
    ♮ art she's pretty talented in that department, probably because her mom is an artist. she's mostly talented at drawing sketches and painting.
    ♮ beaches being from haeundae, she's used to the beach being in close contact. the han river shall do for now.
   ♮ video games she's a master at video games. ask minseo to play any game and she'll beat it, just give her a day. you'll catch her on her off days playing maplestory.
    ♮ plushies she has a plethora of different plush characters including moomin, stitch, and olaf. now, the sixteen girls have put her on a plushies buying ban.
     ♮ artsy foreign films minseo loves a wes anderson film, and if she can get korean subtitles, she's gonna watch it.

DISLIKES
   ♮ insects she's very scared of insects, like she calls yuheon to take care of them.
   ♮ reading or math, or anything that has to do with school. besides art.
  ♮ cooking partly why she's bad at it, she rather just wash the dishes. it's known that minseo always burns everything. "did you burn it again?!" "...maybe...".

♮ definitely not the best student in school; once she started training, minseo decided to drop out, only going back if her idol career didn't work out (much to her grandma's dismay). she does not have her high school diploma.

PERSONA the girl next door︰it's the vibe the pledis directors thought of as soon as they saw her. this based off of minseo's likeable and relatable personality, that makes you feel like she's your best friend. though, she also has the potential to be special. she's pretty in a subtle, natural way, which is easy to sell to young girls.

　♮ 1 week prior to 16tv.
   ♮ minseo very much did not know what to expect when she was accepted into pledis. being that everything happened within a blink of an eye: getting street casted, deciding to audition,  auditioning, being accepted, etc, minseo felt like she had whiplash. not to mention, the literal next week she's thrown into this debut group with a live show she had no idea about prior to her acceptance. minseo felt very insecure, the first couple months of training. she was not particularly talented in any area; the best she had was saying words really fast, which she guesses is why she had such a rap heavy training.

minseo, being the dutiful person she is, felt responsible to catch up quickly so to not be a burden or bring down the rest of the team. she wanted to be worthy of her spot. this propelled her into "go mode", working hard not to be the weakest link. all of the training staff marveled at minseo's rapid development. rapping came quite naturally to her, though she needed work on her tone and finding her sound. while she had never really dance nor sung before. in four months, she went from not knowing any of the basics of singing, to having found her particular tone and a stable, sturdy voice. in three months, she went from lacking rhythm and expression in her dancing, to being sharp and agile, developing a fluidity. minseo went from one of the most experienced trainees, to one of the most promising. 

HEADLINES

PREDEBUT
　♮ 16TV ︰ minseo really thinks pledis was just trying to fill in the spaces of this group quickly before their show aired. at least that's how she feels about her quick manuever into the 16team and 16tv show. she was no where near ready to showcase her lack of talent to eager viewers. she was nervous to say the least. 

since everything happened so fast for her during the start of 16tv, she really felt like she either had tunnel vision or had whiplash. she doesn't remember much of the first 5 months of being on the show, expect her specific training. she's not sure how she came off to the audience: did she look too eager? too hungry? or did she look stupid trying to learn the dance basics? she tried her hardest not to focus on fan comments. despite her nervousness, fans really took a liking to her. i mean, she was just being herself; she didn't really have an on-screen persona. she was just regular deagular minseo. she became something of an underdog: fans didn't think she would last at first, but then they witnessed minseo's quick development and drive and started to stan her. fans also liked how regular she was; she often talked and interacted with the cameras as if she was talking to a friend. though this is truly due to lack of media training given to her prior, but it worked out in her favor. 

though minseo could tell from her rap heavy (and slightly dance focused) training, that she was either going to be placed in the rap unit or dance unit, though she was betting more on rap. she auditioned as a "rapper" (being that she knew one rap song by heart), and it turned out to be her main talent.︰ 2016-2018.

FUTURE ACTIVITIES
　♮ etude ambassador ︰ being a realitvely more popular member of sixteen, minseo was bound to have some solo endorsements. she was shocked that renowned cosemetics brand, etude house, wanted her to model for them. she was flattered of course, but she figured the prettier girls of the group would get an opportunity like this, not her. she becomes famously known as the "etude girl", having multiple cardboard cut-outs outside of their stores. some even get mysteriously stolen...︰ 2021-202X.

HEADLINES & SCANDALS
　♮ SIXTEEN'S MINSEO APOLOGIZES FOR SAYING THE "N" WORD DURING A SONG ︰ during a bts video showcasing one of minseo's solo etude shoot, she accidently sings the racial slur said in a sza song, unconsious of the word's meaning at the time. though this is no excuse, and her members, manager, and fans let her know this. after international fans blew it up in an outrage, minseo went to pledis executives begging to release an apology, claiming to learn more beyond her small worldview. minseo is cut out of group promotions for a couple of week︰ 2022.

MENTOR

FIRST MEETING though they formally met during sixteen wishes to debut, when it was announced that he'd be her mentor throughout the program, they technically knew of each other's presence after a little funny anecdote pre-2018.

as told in sixteen wishes to debut (in the interview portion), minseo explains that she badly had to pee after dance practice one day, and rushed to the restrooms only to walk in and see two seventeen members washing their hands, wonwoo and mingyu, in the mens. rest. room. as she tells the story to the cameras, she gives an embarrased face palm. she specifies she saw nothing but them washing their hands, and rushed to the women's restroom with a red face. 
INTERACTIONS despite both being extremely awkward at first (minseo being embarrased and wonwoo not exactly knowing how to be someone's mentor),  the two develop a great mentor/mentee relationship that borders on friends during the show. when wonwoo's guard comes down and he finally knows how to direct minseo, she is able to replicate his instructions easily making them work well together. wonwoo starts to be charmed by minseo's natural cute and spunky personality, and minseo appreciates an older male's approval. by the end of sixteen wishes, they develop somewhat of a younger cousin/older cousin dynamic, not quite close enough to be considered brother/sister. wonwoo promises to keep in touch with minseo after her debut, but they  rarely do due to both being so busy with schedules and having their own lives. but when both seventeen and sixteen are at the same place at the same time, wonwoo makes an effort to check in on minseo.

TRIVIA
 ♮ minseo is a hardcore wonwoo and sehwa shipper. only by accident though... after accidently seeing wonwoo's text chat with seunghwa while filming for sixteen wishes, as well as his giddy smile to ensue. oh yeah, minseo sees it and often subtly hint to sehwa that she should express her feelings to him. 
  ♮ after sixteen wishes to debut ends, wonwoo insists that minseo call him oppa. 
  ♮ his number is saved in her phone as 'wonwoo oppa/sunbaenim'.
  ♮ she credits her improvement of stage charisma to wonwoo.
 ♮ sehwa often brings up the bathroom anecdote to tease both wonwoo and minseo. 
  ♮ after the racial slur scandal, wonwoo called minseo to check up on her, even though they hadn't spoken in a while. minseo really appreciates it.

HELLO, WELCOME, MINSEO! PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF.
　♮ minseo has her lips shut tight together as she waits for the instructions. "oh dang!" she says excitedly, trying her best not to ramble, what she does best. "okay..." she takes a breath. "wassup? i am do minseo... one lead rapper of sixteen!" she waves a peace sign looking nervous. 

AFTER YEARS OF 16TV, YOU'RE FINALLY DEBUTING! HOW DOES IT FEEL?
　♮ minseo breathes in an excited breath, excited to answer as she lifts her eyebrows in engagement. "yeah! i'm relieved and excited. 16tv  was such an adjustment for me because it happened so quickly..." she absentmindly twists her tongue, while looking off to the side. "i did not know how light was going to look like at the end of the tunnel. so i guess i could say i am happy with the results?" she lightly chuckles.

SEVENTEEN WILL BE YOUR MENTORS THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT? WHO IS YOUR MENTOR, AND WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT HIM?
　♮ "oh my god!" she says in horrid english. "no, i am so excited. seventeen sunbaenim are the people i want to learn from the most and i am lucky to have the opportunity." she bites her lip as she thinks more. "and i definitely could still use more work, and learning from the best? that's what i need." she laughs. minseo perks up even more when asked who her mentor is. "it's actually wonwoo sunbaenim! i'm specifically lucky because i get to work with someone so cool and charasmatic. i know i can learn a lot from him." she nods satisfied. 

YOU HAVE TWO THINGS TO WISH FOR, ONE FOR YOURSELF AND ONE FOR SIXTEEN. WHAT DO YOU WISH FOR?
　♮ "hmmm...." she unironically taps her chin as she thinks hard about this question. "i guess..." she plays with her hands while looking off to the side. "i guess i want to continue to improve in other areas. i don't just want to be good enough, i want to prove myself." she blows out air with as she gets that out. "my wish with sixteen is that we become even closer than we are now. i want 11 sisters." she says with a small smile.

"thank you for the love and support you've given sixteen since before our debut. it has given me strength, motivation, and passion." she clasps her hands together.  she's just focusing on her career right now. it's not that she doesn't want a lover, it's just not happening right now. even though if asked, she would be self-deprecating explaining how nobody liked her before, why would they now.... oh, naive minseo. just ask her middle school male class population....
