BACKGROUND On the night of December 31, 2004, when Dai Sze Ka was celebrating the grand opening of her restaurant, Phoenix Kitchen, she went to labour and was rushed to the hospital, giving birth to Bo just half an hour before the new year rolled around. Even though Sze Ka was single when she gave birth to Bo, she was by no means unsuccessful, being a celebrated author in addition to owning Phoenix Kitchen. Besides, despite his biological father not being in his life, Bo was well taken care of by not only his mum, but his godfather, Chu Yat Kat. When Bo was a year old, Sze Ka reunited with his biological father, Fong Ka On. Things were complicated at first as Kat had fallen in love with KO, but eventually KO, Sze Ka and Kat decided to be in a polyamory, and Sze Ka and KO got married.
In 2008, Bo became an elder brother to baby girl, Ka Yan. During his early childhood, Ka Bo also became fascinated with music as Kat played several instruments, did ad-hoc gigs at bars and even had a few bands. Bo spent several years in his childhood and early teens learning how to play the guitar, bass, drums and keyboard, and eventually chose to specialise in the bass.
