APPEARANCE Linjie is a very beautiful girl but doesn't enhance her beauty in any way, she would still get stares from guys on the street from time to time but she's not outwardly trying to dress to impress. She's a cleanly person but has never been the kind of person to put makeup on or try new hairstyles. Her hair is almost always down unless she didn't have time to wash it and its greasy, or it's too hot, so she puts it up in a messy bun.

STYLE Linjie's style is really simple, she doesn't have much clothes and doesn't care much for fashion either. Cheap comfy items from the thrift shop is her overall aesthetic. She dresses like that broke college student we've all heard of. She has one pair black and white worn out converse that goes with everything and a few off brand shoes. She has one black dress, one long black skirt, and a pair of black flats incase she has to dress up for whatever reason. Other than that you'll never see her in a skirt or dress. She's just too busy and getting around in a pair of pants is a lot easier than a skirt.

BACKGROUND

Linjie was born in Douliu, Yunlin County, Taiwan to a young single mother of 17. She came from a poor neighborhood, most people born there stay there and don’t have much opportunity. The education was the worst in her county but that didn’t stop her from learning. Linjie was top of her class for many years but she also got bullied for many years. Her mom worked many odd jobs, one of the main causes of the bullying in the first place. She was ostracized by the other kids in her town because of it. The girl that bullied her claimed that she saw her mom flirting with random guys at night, insinuating that she had that kind of job. Was any of that true? Who knows, Linjie never questioned her mom about what she did because she really didn’t want to know. It was only those two and she looked up to her mom for how much of a hard worker she was. Though sometimes the light turned off and the landlord came knocking on their door for late rent, her mom somehow made it through everytime. Even if the rumors was true, it wouldn’t change her mind about what she felt about her mom.

Her mom worked odd hours, it was never consistent and she changed jobs often. Since she didn’t finish middle school there weren’t many good jobs available for her. Linjie started working herself at 13, she started her own business running errands for people in the building. Whether it was doing their laundry, taking out their trash, cleaning their apartment, walking a pet, babysitting, buying groceries, getting food, tutoring, she did almost anything they asked her and it was a lot cheaper than any official services. She made a good amount of money for a 13 year old and gave every penny to her mom for expenses. That was only the beginning to her working journey, throughout high school she continued running errands but found a part time job at a bubble tea shop too. Her ambition was just like her mothers, she was able to balance so many jobs and still find time to study and do well in school.

Her mom never told her to dream big because for people like them, there was no way out of that hell hole. So Linjie didn’t, she wanted to become a dentist but she was just thinking locally. She never thought that she’d be able to see the world or even go to another country. But her mom wound up getting a maid job as a maid for a rich guy in Korea. During that time Linjie lived alone, even though she was in her last year of highschool she was already independent so she didn't mind and her life didn't change at all. If she needed anything she'd just ask a trusted neighbor who had her back. Her mom sent money to pay the rent still, she made more money in Korea than before but Linjie still worked because she didn't want to spend her mom's hard owned money. She wanted to save up so they could enjoy it together insted of wasting it in the moment.

For college she got accepted into National Taiwan Normal University on a partial scholarship but she didn't have enough money to pay for the rest so she took a gap year to save up money and work instead.

While Chiayen was working in Korea she got closer to Jaekyun, the man she worked with. He had a daughter and a wife but their marriage wasn't the best. Chiayen told Linjie stories about the arguments the couple would have and the things they saw them doing, it was basically like Linjie was there seeing how broken that family was.

When Jaekyun was frustrated, Chiayen ended up being the person he would talk to. Maybe it was because she didn't understand everything he was saying or something about her seemed trustworthy, eventually Chiayen moved up from maid to mistress. She was still working as a maid but being a mistress became her unpaid side job. He would give her bonuses without his wife knowing and send gifts to Linjie too. Whatever Chiayen wanted he tried to do. The main thing she wanted was to bring her daughter to Korea too and so he did, he used his connections to get her into Jeju University and by the summer of 2022 Linjie moved to Korea.

PERSONALITY

INFJ-T, 4w5, Hufflepuff Cancer Sun, Leo Moon, Virgo Rising

positive studious, altruistic, idealistic, determined, independent, empathetic, caring neutral reserved, shy, future oriented, stubborn negative passive aggressive, dreamy, cautious, perfectionist, conflict-adverse, intense

Linjie is the girl that no one knows around campus, they see her going from place to place but no one actually knows who she is. In class she's quiet, if she's called on she always says the right thing, and she never looks nervous for exams. People don't try to get to know her because she's impossible to catch, always on the move like she's some sort of superhero. Also her resting face doesn't help much either. Those that had her in a group project would say that she comes off as cold, she does her part and thats it without much discussion with the group. If anyone's slacking she'll just do their part too because their terrible job will effect her grade too.

Linjie is mature for her age, a goal oriented girl that isn't one for doing the usual dumb things that young people are known for. She spends most of her time studying or working so she can have a good future. She believes that all her hard work will pay off when she graduates from denistry school and can finally live in a nice home with her mother.

Linjie is a huge dreamer, she daydreams more than the average person. So much that it might as well be a fulltime job. Her mom always told her that her hopes and wishes of a better life a useless because the world is cruel to people like them. It's better to just accept your fate than try to change it. But Linjie can't help herself, she's been working so hard from a young age and sacrificed the whole socializing aspect of her life for studying and working just so she could do better for them. It must pay off somehow. She rarely enjoys the moment, often thinking about what she can do to for a better future instead. Since her mom was never a fan of hearing those thoughts though she's learned overtime to keep them to herself. Only her and her journal truly know what her true feelings are.

It takes a lot for Linjie to open up to others, as someone that got bullied as a kid she didn't have many friends growing up. Naturally she became accustomed to being alone. Even after spending months with someone they still wouldn't know her as much as she knows them because she's more of a listener than a talker. It takes her a long time to be comfortable enough to spill her inner thoughts because even before when she had friends they weren't the best. She goes out of her way for her friends because she's a naturally caring person, she doesn't expect anything back from them either. To her its common curtesy to help someone that needs it, but she sees that many people are missing that part of common sense these days. You'll know you're her friend when she takes the motherly role, scolding you if you don't eat enough or take care of your body. But she doesn't say it in the aggressive semi-screaming way a mom would, her voice is soft and worrisome.

She can be a judgmental person, judging those who go against her morals and values. But she won't stop being friends with someone because of it, they'll get long paragraphs and rants on why they shouldn't do certain things though. It takes her a lot to change her opinion, she usually thinks she's right and does what she wants, because somehow she usually is right. Googling things is her side hustle so she knows a little about everything. She likes to explore but often on her own terms, she doesn't mind turning down friends if she doesn't feel like going somewhere but if they're persistent enough she'll eventually give in if she's actually free. She isn't spontaneous, she likes planning things out and checking off her to-do list. The unknown tends to make her uncomfortable though she wouldn't let it paralyze her either and not take risks when she has to.

Her heart is actually very soft, although she doesn't show it much because she's so busy or have time to let feelings deter her from achieving her goal. Those that truly know her would know she's a sweetheart. She wears her heart on her sleeve and loves doing good deeds to make others smile. That's why she scolds those she cares about. People think that feeling types cry over everything but Linjie isn't like that. She's good at containing her emotions, she doesn't cry in front of others. Actually she's really strong, even though she got bullied she never showed a sign of weakness. She took everything they did and walked away when they were done, she didn't stand up for herself though. That's mostly how she developed such a stoic face, it's almost impossible to read her emotions. But when she gets alone, then she'll cry about whatever happened. She lets it out through journaling instead.

She makes decisions based on her values and how it makes her feel. She's big on following her intuition. She already judges people before she gets to know them and the way she acts depends on her judgment, even if they're not actually like that. Since she's stubborn it takes a lot for her to change her opinion, the other person really has to prove that they're nothing like she thinks.

  • Occupation: Live-in maid.
  • Orientation: Straight
  • Personality: ESTP.
  • Faceclaim: Rainie Yang.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ description
Linjie is very close to her mom, she’s her best friend. She loves spending time with her mom and becomes defensive at anyone who even hints at disrespecting her. Chiayen is a hardworking person yet stubborn and often does what she wants, a quality that Linjie got from her. She’s all for taking risks and believes that even though life is hard you can still have fun on the way. She’s still able to remain light hearted and find the fun in her life no matter the situation, even when she knows its serious being like that gives her comfort. Her hope still doesn’t remain high though because through it all her view on life is still pessimistic, people at the bottom will always stay at the bottom. But it doesn’t mean the bottom can’t be fun. Despite being tired she’ll find time to go drink at a bar and flirt with random guys or make spontaneous trips on her days off. Sometimes its Linjie that acts like the mother between them two. She’s more future oriented than her live in the moment mom and worries that her actions would cost her her job. She wants her mom to be stable for once which is why she chose to go into dentistry because it’s guaranteed money. Her mom wants her to live her life and have more fun, working hard is good but at the end she’ll still be looked at as the poor girl from Taiwan. Or as she would say, “there’s no point of dreaming big, just enjoy the life you have now. we can’t change the cards we were dealt in life.”

신다은 Shin Daeun

  • Relationship: Enemies.

  • Occupation: 3rd year
    business administration major
    at JJU.
  • Orientation: Straight.
  • Personality: ENFJ.
  • Faceclaim: Lee Soodam.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ description
Shin Daeun, the typical popular girl at JJU with the hot boyfriend and also the daughter of her mothers boss. She lives in her own apartment near campus. She's bold, controlling, and not afraid to step on anyone that gets in her way. As soon as Linjie set foot in Korea and was introduced to her as Chiayen’s daughter by her dad, Linjie could barely lift her head at the death glare she got from her. Linjie almost winced when she learned that they'll be attending the same school. Daeun has a deep hatred for Linjie because of Chiayen, she knows her mom and her dad have a thing. Her parents relationship was ruined long ago but instead of facing that fact she rather project her anger onto Linjie. She'll do petty things like bump past her hard enough to make her drop her books or purposely bump into her so her bubble tea spills on her shirt. Every chance she gets she blames something on Linjie and finds every opportunity she can to humiliate her, it’s not the first time she’s dealt with bullying so she’s used to it. Its just unfortunate because she was hoping to have a fresh start in Korea. Daeun's hatred for Linjie is known among her friends too, she openly talks bad about her. It's not like she's ever done anything to her personally though, she knows of her because of her mom's nosiness.

신재균 Shin Jaekyun

  • Relationship: Enemies dad &
    Mom's boss.
  • DOB: 04/14/1969 (53).
  • Occupation: CEO of United

  • Personality: ENTP.
  • Faceclaim: Jung Joon Ho.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ description
Besides her mom constantly talking about him, Linjie doesn't know Jaekyun that well. From what she can tell he's nice, the few times they met for all of five minutes he was polite each time. She knows that he gives her mom extra money and offered to give her too but she declined. She doesn't exactly agree with him and her mom's relationship, if he truly loves Chiayen like he claims then why can't he leave his wife for her instead of cheating? Is she not good enough to marry because she didn't come from money? Linjie sees it as him as using Chiayen, getting as much out of her as he can because he knows she needs the job. Chiayen says its all fun but she sees her mom's expression changes when Soomin comes up.

이수민 Lee Soomin

  • Relationship: Enemies mom &
    Mom's boss.
  • DOB: 10/29/1972 (50).
  • Occupation: CEO of Soomee
    Jewelry and board member of
    United Marketing.
  • Personality: INTJ.
  • Faceclaim: Yum Jung Ah.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ description
Soomin is a lot more scary that Jaekyun, unlike her husband she doesn't mind being rude and glaring at you when she has a problem. Keeping face is important to her, but when you're alone with her she'll flip 180 and make a scene if she has to. She's strict on Daeun and has big plans for her daughters future. As the only child she doesn't expect anything less from her either. As for her husband, she's aware that their relationship has gone to but she doesn't want to let go. Marriage isn't about love, it's a business contract.

이원빈 Lee Wonbin

  • Relationship: Strangers.
  • DOB: 10/24/2000 (22).
  • Occupation: 4th year physical
    education major.
  • Personality: ESTP.
  • Faceclaim: Lee Juyeon.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ description
Linjie doesn't know Wonbin and she doesn't care to know him either, she views him as those typical rich jerks and his personality doesn't do much to prove her wrong. He's Jaejin's childhood friend, they're often seen together and are a known duo on the soccer team. She would also heavy judge Anthony the same way because he's associated with them and popular.

高浩然 Arthur Gao

  • Relationship: Future friends.
  • DOB: 01/28/2004 (18).
  • Occupation: 1st year
    accounting major.
  • Orientation: Straight.
  • Personality: ENTP.
  • Faceclaim: Justin Huang.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ description
Linjie thinks he's korean but Arthur is ethnically Chinese, born in Spain. He speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Spanish and is the one that started the whole Queen thing at the table tennis courts. Him and his friends hang out there often, he's also apart of the table tennis club. They just meet once a week and play table tennis together. He wants Linjie to join but she doesn't have the time. He's also apart of the gaming club. He's interested in trying to get to know her better but the only time he ever sees her is on Fridays at the courts. He's a nice guy, the cool kind of nerd, tries to be flirty and has a hidden talent for latin dancing. He's outgoing and talkative, debating his friends on various topics on his spare time. He wouldn't mind going to parties but doesn't get invited often so he drinks and plays nintendo switch with his friends instead which he finds equally fun.

UNIVERSITY LIFE

MAJOR Biology
ROOM PREFERENCES She'd apply for a triple room since it's cheaper. She doesn't care who her roommate is because she doesn't expect to socialize very much. Just mind her business and get through the year quietly.

SCHEDULE Linjie going to JJU was a last minute decision so her class choices were limited. Her schedule is all over the place yet she works around it either way. She would prefer all morning class however those get taken the fastest, there's not much time for socialize but she doesn't do that anyways.

1:00PM-9:00PM shift at bubble tea shop
10:00PM play table tennis at the courts

 Saturday
10:00AM-6:00PM opening shift at bubble tea shop

– when waiting for her class to start she usually just sits against the wall outside of the classroom
– when her job is about to end she makes her own drink and might take a snack too, she always pays for it so she won't get in trouble
– she studies at the end of everyday. she mostly studies at her dorm unless she needs to do some sort of research. she doesn't have her own laptop so she goes to the computer lab to do any papers or research she has to do. she might study at the library or a study room if her dorm is too noisy.
– she actually reads the textbook, she prefers physical textbooks over etextbooks. on her free time between shifts/classes she reads it so she actually carries her books around with her everywhere
– she always reads the textbook before doing homework so she does her homework the following day
– she's kind of a celebrity at the table tennis courts, only the people that play there would know. she shows up every friday for an hour, beats almost everyone then disappears since she's so busy. she doesn't hang out with them other than that or really know their names either. everytime they invite her somewhere she always declines
– she journals everyday before she sleeps
– the bubble tea place she works at opens at 11AM and is located at the food court in the students center. she starts her opening shifts an hour early to prepare everything. She prefers being alone when preparing because it just gives her piece of mind instead of worry about if the other person is doing it right.
– sunday is her mom's only day off so Linjie spends her week planning things to do on that day. usually it's start with them getting lunch and talking for an hour then an activity that Linjie finds fun like going to a new museum exhibit or shopping. then they go on short few hour tours that she finds, from food tours to sightseeing. it's something different every week. Linjie always uses her own money for that too, that's why she doesn't spend much during the week to save up for sunday's with her mom. they might even just take a day trip to another part of korea, it really depends on what she feels like doing. but with her mom being unpredictable sometimes they don't follow the plan or her mom cancels on her last minute which annoys Linjie because she puts a lot of effort into finding things. Either way she'd most likely go by herself.

DIRECTION Linjie is focusing on completing college with a 4.0 so she can get a scholarship to dental school because she knows there's no way she'll be able to afford it herself. All she does is work and study and work and study. She doesn't have any close friends and isn't trying to make any either. She's too busy for it and at this point she just prefers her own company, maybe because she never found anyone that suits her well. The only person that Linjie truly wants to spend time with is her mom. But with her leaving her hanging more often on the one day they're both free she unintentionally makes some friends. The friends she makes are people like her, from humble beginnings just trying to survive another day and pass their classes.

She gets approached by Jaejin to tutor him for chinese and somehow fits him into her busy schedule. She has a bad impression of him at first and actually finds him obnoxious, doing everything she can to turn down any type of small talk that doesn't have to do with the studies. Her view of rich people aren't good in general, she sees them as stuck up and judgmental like they're constantly looking down on her. Although, Jaejin was different, after a while he made her feel comfortable and she hates to say that she actually enjoyed her lessons with him. Eventually their relationship turns ual, even though they don't know what to label it they at least know that it's more than friends with benefits because there's true feelings.

But the next day, Jaejin still goes back to Daeun like nothing happened and all Linjie gets is dms on Instagrams in vanish mode until their next lesson. Linjie isn't one to speak up if she doesn't like something, she might be passive aggressive when she's frustrated though other than that she's quite compliant. She wants the fairytale life, even if her future husband isn't rich she wants a big beautiful and loving family. She despises her mom's situation but she finds herself in the same thing. She has to decide if she'll live with the circumstances even though it hurts like her mom is because of the status difference. Or stand up for herself and fight for the person she loves so she can have the happily ever after she always wanted. During the whole time she makes unforgettable memories, both good and bad.

interview

hello! welcome to the jeju university family! can you tell me a bit about yourself?

A-annyeonghaseyo... my name is Tsai Linjie but I go by Lizzy Tsai. Originally I come from Douliu Taiwan, you probably never heard of it hmm it's not the most luxurious place but I think it has some charm..

out of all the colleges in korea, why did you pick jeju university and why your major?

I've never been outside of Taiwan and for someone like me that loves nature it seemed like a nobrainer. I'm studying biology so I can go to dentist school. It might sound cheesy but ever since I was little my mom always said that the first thing people see are your teeth, if you have a nice smile you'll leave a good impression no matter where you come from so I always put a lot of priority on her oral hygiene. But while in my hometown I realized that many people in my community didn't have white teeth and others thought they were poor and dirty. So I wants to give everyone a beautiful smile, whether they can afford it or not.

where do you see yourself in 10 years?

If I plan my life out right I should be a dentist by then, working towards having my own practice someday so I can buy a nice apartment for my mom and I.

what would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

My strength is my intelligence, I have a lot of determination to do well. Except my social skills are quite bad..

as a freshman you will reside in chungsam hall, what do you look for in a roommate? any lifestyle habits that you find intolerable?

I'm open to anything, my tolerance for people tends to be high so I really don't mind whoever I get.

what are you looking forward to the most as an incoming freshman?

I'm looking forward to learning about biology and getting closer to my dream of being a dentist. It's also my first time traveling to a different country so I really want to explore it with my mom.

He doesn't discriminate against status or looks, he can talk to anyone easily. He's understanding towards others struggles, willing to help anyone that asks for it just to gain kudos points. Some people might think its too good to be true and he's faking it but he really just wants to do good.

You have a friend for life if you're friends with Jaejin, he's very loyal. Sometimes his loyalty goes beyond though but that's only if they have an extended history, like to his closest friends or family. If you're only a friend and constantly bringing down the vibes then he won't mind approaching you and telling you why you can't hang out with the bros anymore. Even when letting someone go he's still respectful.

His views and morals tend to be based on external factors. He doesn't truly make his own decisions, he just goes with the flow or majority. That's part of what makes him such a good son, he follows his parents blindly without question. He has a lot of respect for rules and traditional values that his parents instilled in him.

He has a strong need to be noticed, want others to see him as helpful, trustworthy and virtuous. This means that his sense of self-worth will rise or fall based on the amount of praise or criticism he gets from others. He takes rejection very personally and has a hard time getting over any bad perception people may have. But he isn't intimidated by challenges and he isn't willing to just sit by and wait for others to take the lead. He might do things out of curiosity but wouldn't go too far to compromise his values completely.

BACKGROUND Jaejin is the only son to the Moon Hotel & Resorts empire, basically he's expected to take it over and inherit a fortune. He has a younger sister and his family is close, they adore both their children. His parents are good friends with the Shin's who have been long time business partners. Jaejin spent a lot of his youth in boarding school in America though, besides him coming to Korea for the summers he didn't see or talk to Daeun very often. It wasn't until highschool did they actually get to know each other.

It was their parents who truly set them up, Jaejin was basically her arm candy that she bossed around. He accepted it because it was what his parents wanted and they had a lot of expectation on him. He actually never even questioned it, he loves Daeun and never did anything to make her question his loyalty. She basically rules their relationship. No matter how many fangirls he has he only sees Daeun. She saw her flaws but he accepted them either way because he has to love her, he does love her.

His college life is one of the usual popular guy, never being seen alone, knowing basically everyone and getting all the attention in the world. He loves the attention either way. His major is business administration, his grades are better than you'd think but not a 4.0. He's currently living on campus with a roommate. He's just waiting for the day he'll basically inherit everything. He's living his life as the perfect son and perfect guy holding hands with the perfect girl everywhere he goes.

LOVE STORY Jaejin heard a lot about Linjie before he even saw her because of Daeun talking . They met a few times on campus when Daeun and her had their petty run ins, he never said anything to her though. Just watched her as she struggled to pick up her books or fast walk past them as Daeun glared at her.

Jaejin was actually taking chinese that year for his language credit and he was failing bad. He didn't have any chinese friends to tutor him so the first person he thought of was the only Taiwanese girl he knew. He went to Chungsam Hall on his own everyday asking around until he saw her coming out. She just walked past him at first completely ignoring his excited wave after three days of searching. All she thought was, this guy is trouble, ignore him at all costs. But instead he started following her.

"You're pretty hard to find. I mean like no one knows you."

No response.

"Anyways.. I was wondering if you could be my tutor. My grade in chinese is pretty tragic right now."

No response. But mentally she already declined him and was telling him to go away, sadly they don't have telepathy though.

"Hey I know Daeun could be pretty mean sometimes but she doesn't mean it. Don't take it too seriously."

Don't take it seriously? Say that to scab on her knee from falling on the concrete last week. Another thought that went unsaid.

"Well?.. Oh .. you're not mute are you?"

"No I'm not, and I won't tutor you either. I think Daeun hates me enough, the last thing I need is for her to think I'm trying to steal her boyfriend."

"Well then we don't have to tell her."

Daeun just scoffed and ordered her food from the cafeteria but what he said next stopped her in her tracks.

"Pick your price and I'll pay triple."

She didn't know why he didn't just ask someone else, or even find a tutor from online but his proposition intrigued her, she knew she definitely needed the money. Jaejin could've easily got someone else but he was honestly curious about Linjie, she couldn't be as bad as Daeun always said so he wanted to find out for himself. It was like killing two birds with one stone since his grades were actually terrible. She let out a big sigh and eventually agreed. That was the start of their relationship.

It stayed as a tutor and student relationship for a very long time, Linjie refused to talk about anything that didn't have to do with chinese because they had a job to do, they weren't friends. One Sunday Linjie was waiting for her mom so they could spend time together, she was waiting at the bus stop like they planned. It was freezing that day but she waited for three hours for her mom to go on one of the many tours she found. Linjie still thought her mom would come even though she didn't pick up her 16 calls so she waited even when it started pouring.

Linjie was stuck there without an umbrella, her mom never showed up and lo and behold, Jaejin pulls up in front of the bus stop in his car asking her if she needs a ride. But she refused to go with him claiming her mom would show up so he parked the car there and waited with her. She mentally cursed herself for even being in that situation. After failed attempts of many conversation starters he started playing music loudly to kill the awkward silence that just made her even more mad. Linjie stayed there until it got dark outside, Jaejin even got food and went back. Despite her stomach growling she refused to get in the car or take his food. She started walking in the pouring rain instead without a hood. He drove slowly beside a shivering Linjie as she walked.

"You look pretty cold there, are you sure you don't want a ride? I got heat and food and good music. You didn't eat all day, I bet you're hungry."

No response. Linjie was pretty far away from her dorm and she didn't have enough money for a taxi back. The bus she was waiting for didn't even take her in that direction and the Korean subway system was a maze for someone as terrible at directions as her. She still was getting used to navigating her way around campus. She had no choice but to get in with Jaejin unless she wanted to catch pneumonia.

She eventually got in and ate the now cold burger and fries he bought her. As he drove her back to campus Linjie couldn't help but tear up about her mom. It was pretty pathetic to start crying while eating a burger but Linjie was working so hard for her and Chiayen's future. It was like her mom didn't care as much as she did. Jaejin didn't say anything until they pulled up to Chungsam Hall.

"You know–"

But before he could get a word out, Linjie got out the car without saying anything. That whole week until their next lesson, that was all Linjie thought about. It distracted her at work, during class, as she studied. Linjie thought all rich people were the same, they wouldn't talk to someone like her unless they were getting something out of it. He didn't have to wait all those hours with her but he did... could he possibly have a conscious and not be driven by self interest? Naaah, impossible. But she was becoming more observant towards him, noticing the litte things he did for her that went out of his way. Even the smallest things like texting her good luck on the day of an exam she mentioned during their lesson. He didn't have to, but he did.

Slowly Linjie started opening up to him; first it was her actually texting him back more than three words, then it was a chuckle during their lesson. Overtime they only got closer; their lessons full of muffled laughter behind hands over their mouths. Eventually he asked her to hang out and she agreed since her mom had only become increasingly flaky. He became the alternative to when her mom wouldn't show up so Linjie wouldn't be forced to go on tours alone and waste the extra ticket. That only brought them closer and eventually a peck on the cheek turned into a kiss on the lips then Linjie losing her ity in a hotel room. But it was more than ual, it only got to that point after months of getting to know each other and exchanging interests. Forming a deep bond that they both wanted to get out of the friend zone, and with no way to make it official, it became ual.

INTERACTIONS Before becoming his tutor, Linjie and Jaejin didn't talk at all. She might've spared him a glance but it was rare. However, Jaejin always thought she was beautiful. He didn't like when Daeun acted like that but its not like he tried to stop her either. It became a part of her that he got used to because of their long dating history, he forgot how it could really affect the other party. After becoming her student Linjie was really strict with him, she wasn't interested in the small talk. She just wanted to get the job over with and teach him whatever she had to. He was friendly and tried joking around but her attitude was cold because she honestly didn't like him.

Her being his tutor was a secret because if Daeun found out, she would literally kill them so in public they act like they don't know each other. It was easy at first, Linjie could walk past him without even glancing unlike him that had to stare for at least a second. Even her texts were dry. It got harder once the feelings came into play though, because their quick glances turned into long gazes and seeing the way Daeun treated or even talked about Linjie started to piss him off but he had to hide his anger.

Even though they didn't have much in common at first, Jaejin is the type to care for his friends deeply so he went out of his way to learn about the things she liked. If she was reading a book then he read it too so they could talk about it, he asked her to teach him how to play table tennis and bet that he could beat her. After a while Linjie became the same, open to learn about the things he likes like soccer. He's been all over Korea and Linjie loves traveling and learning new things so they'd go on day trips together that were way better than the tours she usually went on.

When Linjie gets comfortable she transforms, becoming this talkative daydreamer. She loves to talk about her hopes and dreams, what she wishes she could do, discuss various topics from science to books to life. Jaejin loves when she goes on those rants, he'd just watch her fondly as she talks for hours on end jumping to different topics like every single thought that comes to her mind is pouring out. He truly thinks she's brilliant, and he wants to learn more from her and wants to turn her dreams into a reality. When they talk it's like they're the only two in the room, they get lost in conversation then next thing you know hours went by. They develop inside jokes and Jaejin loves to poke at her competitive side and . When they're alone they can't keep their hands off of each other. Maybe it's because they only truly interact once or twice a week other than texting but their passion runs high. After a while he realizes that his relationship with Daeun is shallow compared to Linjie. But Daeun is who he's meant to be with and he isn't sure if he could go against that.
