PERSONALITY:

seuli never wanted to hurt anyone, when she joined the military she thought she would help people not hurt them. her parents took so much pride in their job that she never in a million years thought that they were helping to kill thousands of people. since she was a child she's always been friendly to everyone she comes across. its just in her nature to be open and accepting of everyone. no matter how much the fire nation tried to instill negative views of other nations, she couldn't help but just see everyone as human and big one nation instead of separate beings. 

naturally she's a friendly person, she enjoys learning about others lives and their views. as a child her mom would have to put a hand over because she asked too many questions to strangers. she isn't the type to push her views on others though, instead she starts to second guess herself if others have a different opinion. while she was in the military that was one of the most confusing aspects for her, she knew it was wrong but everyone else seemed okay with it so it made her think she was the problem. which is why now she lives in a secluded part of ember island where she can be at peace mentally. if she found a group of people who agreed with the way she thought, she'd thrive and be more confident in her views. 

but seuli has always been an intelligent girl. she might be wishy washy when it comes to her opinions but when its facts she isn't afraid to show off her knowledge. not in a show off kind of way but a helpful way. she often puts others needs above her so she'll go out of her way to help anybody. she has a habit of taking things too personally making her very emotionally driven. even if she's feeling down and pessimistic on herself she'll still be optimistic and smile for other people. how other people view her is important even though she truly wants to stop caring about that because its stopping her from being her true self.  

BACKGROUND: 

seuli came from an educated family, both her parents are nonbender college graduates making a living as inventors creating innovative explosives and weaponry for the fire nation. they took a lot of pride in their nation and were proud to be helping with the war. as a child seuli was exposed to her parents inventions and dreamed of helping the fire nation too. as a child she remembers drawing weapons too, but her ideas were rarely used because a unicorn shaped boat and breathes fire and glitter isn't a very helpful idea. unlike her parents she became a firebender at a young age and showed exceptional skills even her previous masters were blown away by her abilities. she excelled academically but it was her dream to help serve the fire nation somehow instead of just going to college, it wasn't well funded anyways. by the time she was sixteen she joined the fire nation military.

while in the army she was known as an amazing firebender. she was a quick learner and impressed everybody, even though the fire nation was relatively equal people still doubted her for being a girl. she moved up to a higher training class faster than others. during her training she was a student of jeong jeong. she liked his approach to fire bending, instead of being all about offense like most firebenders she saw fighting as a push and pull kind of thing. her way of fighting complimented jeong jeong well, even though he was obviously better than her at the time he appreciated how she listened to all his advice and showed great discipline instead of losing her temper like most firebenders. even though he was her master she got close to him.

at the time she made a good friend who she spent most of her time with, zhao. many people thought they were a couple because they spent so much time together even though they were opposites they somehow got along well. she was the only one he would listen to and at times she was able to convince him to actually listen to what jeong jeong had to say. zhao did develop a crush on her but it was one sided, she didn't realize how much he actually loved her. she was the only person he could tolerate and wasn't aggressive towards, she thought he was being friendly because they were best friends after all but boy she was wrong. though she had her eyes on someone else, her fire bending master that she looked up to oh so much, none other than jeong jeong. he didn't know of course but she was head over heels. while they were talking alone after training, she took her chances and kissed him. she was sure he felt the same but he pushed her away and deemed it unprofessional, which she couldn't help but agree with. to her that was the end of it, but around the corner was zhao watching the whole thing with a bouquet of fire lillies that he was ready to give to seuli as he planned to ask her out in that moment. but instead all he got was a shattered heart.

zhao's personality became worse from that moment on, his temper became worse than before and he took on any little mission to gain glorification. even seuli couldn't control him at that point, she didn't know why he was acting like that but she didn't like it. soon they both joined the navy as junior lieutenants but under different generals. it didn't take long for seuli to move up to captain because of her amazing firebending skills and discipline. while zhao was trying to prove his strength every chance he got seuli started questioning her role in the war. she tried to talk about it to zhao but instead she was met with him bragging about an earth kingdom village that he took over. contrary to feeling pride, seuli felt bad for the villagers who had to deal with the other soldiers who took advantage of their position. seuli felt as if there was an inner conflict because she always wanted to help her great nation like her parents but after seeing what the weapons her parents are making were doing to harmless people she couldn't help but feel bad. to alleviate her guilt she resigned from the army despite the opportunity to be promoted to commander and joined the domestic forces instead. 

she got a position at the earth kingdom prison rig where she served as a guard. she thought that it'll be better on her mentally since she wasn't directly killing anyone but she was wrong once again. seuli got exposed to how the guards mistreated the prisons and took advantage of their lack of ability to earthbend. when she learned about some of their cases, they were just warriors trying to protect their villages from the fire nation which was understandable after what she saw and did while in the navy. the fact that they stopped villages from earthbending was ridiculous to her, the fire nation was supposed to be spreading peace not oppression. at least thats what she always learned. even though it was a prison she felt that it was all too harsh, she tried her best to be friendly to all of the prisoners but one good seed in a field of many bad ones doesn't make much of a difference. part of her couldn't understand why she seemed to be the only one feeling this way until she reunited with an old friend.

when seuli saw jeong jeong once again they picked up right where they left off, it was as if all the emotions she felt all those years ago came back. she was older now, no longer the little girl she used to be and she grew into a beautiful young lady as jeong jeong said. when she confessed to him about her feelings of the fire nation, she was surprised to know that he felt the same way. jeong jeong became the only person she could talk to about that without feeling like she was the odd one out. her feelings for him never left but she suppressed in fear of ruining the good friendship they had, either way it wouldn't look good for an admiral to be dating a prison guard. the more she talked to jeong jeong the more she realized that this was a linger thought that he had for a while and his feelings went a lot deeper than hers. she knew she didn't like the system but she never thought of leaving deserting the fire nation, it was her home after all. thats why when she heard about jeong jeong's desertion she was shocked but not surprised, she just wished that he would've taken her with him.  

after jeong jeong left she met a fire nation lieutenant who she found herself to be in a realtionship with after a few months named heiran. they knew each other back when they were trainees, her zhao and him were all in the same training group. despite her and zhao's ability to move quickly up the ranks he stayed down at lieutenant for a long time. she became pregnant and took her leave from work. heiran joined the troops to go fight in ba sing se but he didn't make it, and neither did their baby. the pain of losing a child and her current boyfriend was too hard for her, she didn't go back to her job. she got offered to become a fire bending master for the military, teaching new recruits the disciplines of firebending, similar to what jeong jeong did but she declined. 

instead she decided to start a new life on ember island away from everyone she used to know. the island is known for causing visitors to go through self discovery and seuli was one of them. she no longer wanted to be around the destruction of war or even hear about it and living on the island helped her gain self awareness. she realized that she was a lot more confused about her stance than she ever thought, frustrated at no one but herself. instead of facing her issues she decided to run away from it, putting all her attention into starting her own flora shop and boutique with handmade accessories that she makes herself which has been doing fairly well in the five years that its been active. she no longer firebends for the purpose of destruction, only for simple things like heating some tea. but the person she loves is considered a traitor, her once best friend is only getting higher in rank, and her parents are making weapons for the fire nation. she's has deep ties in the issue thats bothering her most but turns a blind eye instead.

seuli is close to her parents, they've been nothing but loving and supportive throughout her life and she couldn't ask for better ones. the only issue is that they're also very loyal to their nation and don't understand anyone who has an ounce of disagreement to the fire nation government.

seuli felt that jeong jeong was the only person she could be her true self with, he understood her on a deeper level that she hasn't experienced with anyone else. something about him just instantly made her comfortable and felt that she wouldn't be judged. she hasn't spoken to him in over 10 years but he still lingers in her mind constantly wondering what their connection could've been. its always been their positions keeping them apart but she can't help but think that if they ever saw each other again nothing would get in their way. she hasn't truly loved anyone since him, heiran was her attempt to move on but even then it didn't compare to him. she has no intention of going out to find him because she's almost positive that he's dead by now, but she doesn't know if she'll ever be able to move on either.

seuli and zhao have been friends since they joined the military together at 16. he developed a crush on her but never had the opportunity to confess. her love for jeong jeong pisses him off to no end, to him she only liked jeong jeong because of all the power he had so he tried to get that too. everytime he accomplished something or ruined a village seuli was the first person he ran to for recognition. but nothing he did seemed to impress her. even though he moved on he never gave up on trying to win her heart. seeing her with an idiot like heiran pissed him off to no end but seeing her with jeong jeong again would piss him off even more.

heiran was seuli's first serious relationship. zhao calls him the biggest idiot that he's ever seen and still can't understand why she would even go for someone like that. heiran was the complete opposite of what he thought she wanted. but she liked him because he was funny and made her feel light hearted. she wouldn't say that she loved him but either way it was sad when he passed and she won't let anyone talk bad about him because he was still someone that she was in a relationship with and almost the father of her child.

LAST COMMENT: pretty sure that preview section makes no sense at all lmaoooo. i tried making it sound cool and mysterious ok :( i wasn't sure what to do with her personality so you can tweak it if you want. i'll add more trivia later. i feel like she's lacking so much compared to taeo but idk what else to do so tell me if theres anything i need to add.
