korean her mother tongue, spoken with a slight gyeonggi province dialect that has not faded yet despite her being taught to adapt and fully adopt the common dialect of hanyang (seoul). her father tells her it's one of her unordinary perks, causing her to cheer up a bit despite feeling bad for not being able to completely blend in with hanyang's form of speech as instructed by her mother.
❃ chinese the foreign language taught to her in which she is ever-so developing and improving her fluency in the language verbally or gramatically as she is very interested in the language. to her, there is a sense of subtlety and poetry to how the language is spoken and written. she has been praised for her calligraphy skills and knowledge of idioms.
british english as her mama taught that knowing two languages will not be enough to impress suitors, she was also taught the language of great britain. she is not very interested in the language as it doesn't seem to have the same allure as the chinese language but of course, the words of her mama is always final thus she has to pull through learning the language to a level that satisfies her mama. she is now proficient in speaking the language and understanding other speakers, though not as much in writing. turns out, her knowledge pays off as she's had an opportunity to attend a boarding school in england under the will of her mama.

WARDROBE
won eunha is the embodiment of white and red, often seen wearing the two colors the most as well as the color pink. though, it does not cover possibility for her to deliver in hints of gold or blue or brown. she often brushes her hair into a slick bun with no braiding as she hums to a song. she does not let her hair down unless for important gatherings where she can attempt different methods of styling. before going out, she never forgets a layer or two of pink-red or mauve lip pigment she personally requested to be made for herself.

the juxtaposition of silk and cotton being used as materials of her dresses worn on a daily basis elevate her grace and elegance to make her sweet in others' eyes while balancing her spice. she layers her accessories made of gold or silver, often opting to have two necklaces stacked over one another while sporting earrings of pearls or of gold with intricate details. on important gatherings of the high society, her dresses see an upgrade in volume as the skirts become more detailed and the details to the lace or shoulder lines become more enhanced. [visualizer

PERSONALITY

enterprising, confident, tough-minded, observant, self-reliant
esfp-t, 8w7, choleric, slytherin, joo seok kyung reimagined
competitive, prideful, perfectionist, undemonstrative, pugnacious

won eunha is a lady that can carry with her earth, wind, fire and air. she is an individual with quick feet, ready to overcome obstacles with ease and grace through her own creative and sensible solutions as she makes use of the resources and information she carries to do so. she does not fear being put into difficult situations in a conversation against other ladies, prepared to reveal her hidden cards to the table. she fears no failure, believing in herself for support and source of strength. there is always a sense of reassurance in eunha as she carries a great understanding of herself and her limits, both the emotional and physical. she knows where she lacks to allocate more time to improve and where she excels to invent or craft ways to showcase them with a single impactful punch.

and, what if she gets hit by a storm or a wave? well, she does not stay down for long. it is a lesson from her father, "you must not stay down for the enemy will be so sure they've won. you must get up and take them down then, when they've mistaken their victory." she never stays discouraged for long, carrying a resilient mentality within her. she hates seeing others think they've gotten the upperhand so she gets up far more stronger from every time she gets knocked down. won eunha is admirably commited to her duties and goals so virtually, nothing can stop her. she is a fighter born from one of the toughest nobles who ever fought in battle and one of the most ambitious mothers within the society. it is in her blood.

all this is done while having an astute judgement towards her surrounding, using such a skill to notice things; their current interests, their connections, their mistresses or misters and current subject of affection. eunha has it figured out. there are two traits in eunha that may be her double-edged swords; her self-reliance and her competitive spirit. being an individual that often depends on herself (and on her brother, sometimes) to become the person she can be proud of. she had direct experience of having to adapt by her own. she knows how to decide for herself. it often costs her socially when such a trait is not viewed as "attractive" or "desireable". she lives under a persona during the social season, restraining herself from being a woman who is more than capable of managing her own needs and standing on her own within the society (even if she does not know how to cook).

her strong desire to be near perfection led her to become competitive. she competes both with herself motivated by her pride and emotions as well as against others motived by external factors and material attributes. when she competes with herself, she is able to motivate herself to do grand things. however, she lets this migrate into her private life as she also competes against others. it often strains her relationships with those near her or stains her perception towards them, causing her competitive spirit to taint her mind, sometimes villainizing those who are actually kind towards her. on top of this, eunha's heart has transformed her pride into a poison. she never says it out loud to protect and conceal herself from others but she's always concerned with the state of her future because she believes that her success or failure is measured by her abilities to attract suitors during a season. this makes it harder for her to swallow her pride down becauses he wants to come out of things unscathed without embarrassing herself and to avoid seeming like a lady whose easy to get when in fact, she is the exact opposite.

something that encompasses a large part of eunha's life is her pursuit of perfection or near perfection. she's always had certain standards and expectations to live up to and the more she succeeds in delivering, the more she makes it hard for herself to settle for the small victories as she always strives to win the war. it causes her to be highly critical of herself, leaving her hollow as nothing can truly fill her hunger and ambitions. it is perhaps all these shortcomings attribute to her inability to openly and directly express her feelings of affection or fondness personally towards others outside of courtesy or basic manners and ethics. she always tries to twist and turn her sentences, coating them with a bit of sarcasm or doubt. she just instantly utters such responses, scared of any of her possible sincerity being used as a weaknesses against her. this is due to the strict family ambiance, her father was very chilly during his working hours while her mother had always been demanding. such a family caused her to be very unfamiliar to receiving genuine empathy and compassion, prompting such behavior from her the second she seems to be treated "well".

yes, her mind's very dysfunctional but not surprising when remembering the society's nature. another of her weakness is her tendency to become defensive and argumentative in an attempt to justify her means and to retaliate anyone who speaks bad of her. she knows that she has to accept criticism but often more than not, she's prone to causing a few hostile exchanges just because she felt offended or attacked by another person. even she herself has difficulty comprehending why she contains much anger inside her towards the world but she's come to find that it is due to her family and the pursuit of perfection her mother is so obssessed with. though, this is a different case during social season as she adjusts herself to not be easily irritated or prone to engage in fights. well, otherwise, it's quite obvious that eunha is ready to snap when someone touches her pride, her family or her dignity.

"so, sister, how do you feel after leaving for a while?"
"oh, brother, i feel reborn. i'm ready to avenge myself."
"promise me that you will not go too hard on the ladies."
"the harder the introduction, the more fear they feel, brother."

even tough-minded eunha needed a break after that catastrophy. she had her pride, her confidence and her goals burn in front of her the same way one would throw firewood to the fire. she loathed the feeling of such a dirty and public defeat so she spent several weeks inside the estate, not stepping out into the society at all. after the tears dried, came the never-ending self-introspection on her life and character. she was an evil villain, she was ruthless and too combative. she suddenly hated everything about her life, the society and herself, feeling suffocated as all of the heavy thoughts  accumulated within her heart until she just decided to leave the kingdom for europe. she wanted to spend time outside the society that has seen her descend in glory as the season's shining diamond.

even during her time in europe, all that's left inside is anger and thirst for vengeance as she's had a deep look at herself. she's come into conclusions about herself in an attempt to improve and modify her character so that she does not face the same difficulties or unwanted situations. she simply cannot let herself feel the intense embarrassment, shame and remorse that she felt at the disaster and tragedy of the past. she will redeem herself.

yes, she is still the same bold, clever fighter but she vows to rise from her past tragedy as a phoenix. she no longer wishes to compete against others. she no longer cares for the material attributes that has for so long encompassed her pride and behavior. she no longer wants to defend or argue to justify herself. she will let them speak whatever about her. she will let them be. she will accept criticism. she will open her heart slowly to actions of genuine acts of compassion and empathy.

she will show them a changed woman, reborn like the phoenix from the ashes. after all, won eunha does not stay down for long.

tl;dr a girl who'd you prefer as an ally or a friend. a lady who can manage her own things and take care of herself who will never surrender easily only to have her play an alternative persona to seem "desireable" or "attractive". anyone's worst nightmare or enemy who has all the traits that makes her an antagonist to many of the young woman in the society. she's set to return as a lady who seems angry and disgusted at the society but is in fact, more angry at herself. be careful, mamas and ladies because she's ready to avenge herself and come out as the best version of herself.
"bringing with her surprises during her debut, she made sure everyone knew of her name. the unforeseeable, as the queen herself has dubbed her and the shining diamond by other nobles as it's rightfully so. an education from england, profiency in three languages, the beauty of a red rose with the clean of a white lily... won eunha is deemed to return to the high society as a rebloomed flower. so, only time will tell if she will again be entangled with the crown prince or perhaps, her heart may settle on another bachelor."

BACKGROUND
the house of won has always been in-line for great power within the kingdom of korea and its high society. the house gave birth to general and admiral won gyun who was often seen as the adversary or the yin to the yang of admiral yi sun-shin, after all. this caused the house to have a rather skeptical approach towards rubbing shoulders with those of japanese background. though he is often vilified within the history records in order to showcase more of yi sun-shin's greatness, the verdict by the royal family and their officials still stands that despite a few objections, won gyun was one of the kingdom's most admirable military generals and admirals. this is the reason why the house of won managed to gain prestige and respect within the high society of the kingdom.

the house of won currently governs several of gyeonggi province's most crucial cities that are suwon, yong in, hwaseong, osan, seongnam and pyeongtaek to which the current head of the house, won sanghyun is titled the marquess of hwasanju alongside his wife, marchioness lee dajeong. unlike other nobles who view suwon as the more important city, the house of won sees pyeongtaek as the most important due to a rather personal attachment that stems from its family history. it was general and admiral won gyun's birthplace, after all.currently, the house of won's legacy and heritage rests in the hands of the house's main bloodline— twins lady eunha and the earl of hwasanju, lord won hahyun whose titles were inherited through their marquess and marchioness parents.

the younger twin by three minutes, won eunha was born after her brother hahyun in the house of won's residence in the city of pyeongtaek, gyeonggi province. as the daughter of the house, she was educated by her mama since a young age on certain attributes that she saw would be needed to impress and attract high suitors later in the future of her debut in the high society. eunha had always been educated that it was her duty and somewhat destiny to do so for the sake of the family but she didn't feel constrained. no, won eunha was never one to go against destiny. she played with destiny, making full use of her noble status. she had always been raised to feel proud of her roots and of her nobility so she was always comfortable being in the high society. on days where her mother and father would soften, they told her to never fear being a grown woman in the society. she had them as parents and hahyun as a brother by her side.

ever since they were children, eunha had always relied on her twin because there was just this settling feeling inside her that she had nothing to fear when she has him by her side, a statement that would prove itself true as she had to navigate life post-debut in the high society. in addition to this, her childhood was much spent in close proximity to the friendship trio her brother forged with the crown prince juwon and his first cousin, lord yul. she was fonded upon by lord yul as he himself did not have much attachment towards his family and the shine in eunha's eyes helped him imagine what life would be like if he had a sister much like her. while lord yul was more fond of her and warm towards her, it is the crown prince that she could not figure out his regards for her. he had always been more rigid and irritating around her to the point that even her brother could not fathom the reason his friend seemed to enjoy annoying his sister.

perfect was what eunha set her sights on and her ambitions led her to become a woman of red like the fire in her heart and eyes yet also of white like the purity and freshness befitting a woman just newly coming of age. her mama sent her to bushey, england when she was thirteen in pursuit of higher education that will enhance her poise and people skills for the suitors. eunha remembered how strongly hahyun objected to the decision but as it always has been, mama's words are final. even then, she understood her brother's objection. they always had each other to confide in when everyone else is unlikely to keep secrets and hahyun had always seen eunha's vulnerability when sometimes, fatigue would come find her.

with that, to have her sent to the other side of the world just for the sake of victory over other mamas' daughters was an idea that hahyun was disgusted by. eunha remembered how her father reassured her, whispering that he was also personally against it because he couldn't have his girl far from him. however, he told her something right in that it would be the only chance in her life of education as if she debuts in the high society, all that no longer matters. what matters is what suitor she attracts by what means. so, just like that, won eunha spent five years attending st. margaret's school in bushey, england until she reached the age of eighteen.

keeping her father's words in mind, eunha realized that her time in england was a rare opportunity so putting up with the difficulties she encountered during her time in bushey became easier. she remembered to write to her brother, confiding in him all the hardships and emotions she felt as she learned from the curriculum there. writing to hahyun was an activity she did to relieve stress and to empty her heart and mind every so often. everything was exciting for her due to the fluttering feeling of challenges as she also started to be brave and interact with other girls in her boarding house. despite the initial discomfort from several uncomfortable questions or remarks from them regarding her origins, appearance or culture, eunha made sure that she controlled herself. she was only there until she was eighteen so she needed not to fret over relations with girls she may never encounter ever again. she was stronger than them so she knew that being the bigger person meant her victory.

as her time at st. margaret's school ended, she returned to the korean kingdom at the age of eighteen. as she would be making her debut at the age of twenty, eunha took up the two years to practice more of her ballet and traditional korean dance as well as archery. she even had several tutors teach her mandarin chinese while also maintaining her body shape. hahyun was glad their mama did not force eunha to debut straight away at the age of eighteen, enjoying the fact that his sister has returned to the kingdom safely and is now by his side. their first cousin, lord yul was also joyful as he visited the estate as soon as he heard of eunha's return (although, eunha picked on him the moment she saw him by saying that it was perhaps her gift for him that he was looking forward to see). this was all due to the tradition of the house of won that women would make their debut at the age of twenty, an age that signals in a new chapter in life.

during her debut season at the age of twenty, her mama and brother were there by her side as she displayed all the craft and skills she learned. "our eunha has learned horse riding, archery and ballet from her time in england, not to mention she had always been a good traditional korean dancer," her mother would proudly giggle as she engaged in a tense exchange with other noble mamas. everyone looked on eunha who was deemed the season's shining diamond by the publications at the time to which many suitors called for her and all eyes were on her as she graced the room of every social event possible. she even had her first dance of the season with the crown prince, breathing in jealousy. eunha was having the time of her life as she continued to feel a sense of achievement and pride all throughout the social season. she knew she was destined to be a diamond that shone even in the dark because well, she was won eunha.

of course, that was until she was entangled with the crown prince, kim juwon in the news that quickly became the talk of the town. the crown prince was seen confessing to lady eunha from the house of won. this was after lady eunha ran away from the crown prince mid-dance one night at a ball to which housemaids heard bits of their conversation that sounded much like an intense exchange. even before the news broke in the town, there had always been whispers of possibilities that the crown prince would be attracted to the season's shining diamond. it's due to the known fact that the crown prince, lord yul and lord hahyun had spent much of their childhood growing up as friends so many whisper rumors of a fantasy that lady eunha who had been in close proximity of the three boys was perhaps the crown prince's first love or subject of affection. ridiculous is the sound that these whispers are but of course, even nobles could not steer away from such electrifying whispers when they hear them.

the news caused a stir due to reasons being that the infamous playboy crown prince has never gone to such extent in matters regarding a woman or women. this would mean the whispers of the crown prince being attracted to eunha would be true. the bets started to occur amongst the nobles on whether or not the crown prince would end up proposing to the lady and there was the big question in all the minds of mamas and women, how did lady eunha achieve such a feat to have the crown prince of their kingdom fully attracted to her? this affected the house of won a lot as eunha's parents were on crossroads between their parental love and ambitions while hahyun confronted his friend on his intentions.

"i couldn't hold back any longer when the feelings grow stronger and stronger each day" the crown prince would tell lord hahyun with a smirk before her brother successfully launched a punch at the crown prince's face. the factor of the crown prince's during eunha's would-be successful debut season caused eunha's suitors to distant themselves from her while also causing her mama to avoid stimulating rumors from the mouths of other mamas. the news pierced eunha in a place deep within her heart. she had always enjoyed the high society's events and the interesting rumors or stories that come with it but a little too much time of engaging in such a society has now caused her to forget how to take rest. she never hated rumors or gossip as she never taught she'd be the subject of negative ones but now that she's gotten into one herself, she hated the feeling of being toyed around or having her life manipulated by others to satisfy their own need for self-actualization that they lacked due to their jealousy.

of course, many also started to gossip on another haughty question, the lady had always known to be one of ambitions and competition, why would she reject such a prestigious proposal from the crown prince? well, eunha could not lie that she's ambitious, striving to have the best for herself and her family however she had never seen it coming. she never saw the crown prince juwon as someone who would take interest in her and propose to her. frankly, she never thought he'd be a possible suitor to her and her as a possible marriage partner to him. a thought built in her mind upon hearing and seeing the raw side of him regarding his promiscous endeavors. i would never want to live with a man of such, she thought to herself even if it was the crown prince of her kingdom. eunha was scared and uncertain due to juwon's such endeavors and rightfully so as she could not feel secure around him. it was possible for him to be so invested in her and move on to spend the night with another woman in bed, extremely possible. how could she trust the remainder of her noble life to such a man, when deep down, she dreams of an evergreen, prosper and harmonious married life?

this caused eunha to flee from the kingdom's high society for the remaining time of her debut summer season to spend time in the family estate in pyeongtaek instead as it is more intimate and calm compared to the one in suwon. she couldn't bear to be in the attention of others only for them to spit out more outrageous whispers if she was in their line of vision. hahyun could not handle seeing his sister in such a state and confronted the crown prince, reconciling their friendship on the one condition that the crown prince apologize to lady eunha and talk out the misunderstandings that led up to the breaking news of the town. despite the crown prince chilly swatting away the idea of him apologizing, hahyun was reassured of the existence of his friend's morals when he bumped into the crown prince as he exited the house of won's residence in pyeongtaek as the prince shyly told hahyun, "i hope you do not punch me again as it hurts, friend" to which hahyun replied to him, "then, perhaps, your royal highness can entertain his friend, this earl to a drink or two."

eunha remembered that night clearly. one of her handmaids informed her of his arrival in the estate, causing her heart to drop. she was not ready to face him but she had to, in order for the cycle to come full circle. they met in the balcony of the estate. "good night, your royal highness, i hope that the trip was not troublesome for you," she curtsied and bowed to him. the crown prince could feel his heart ache for her but of course, that moment was not the right time for such. "lady eunha, i would like to apologize for the inconvenience i have caused you and your family. i have acted carelessly regarding the matters of your three syllable name as my heart took control over my mind. i do not wish for forgiveness as my actions towards you lacked the mannerism that deserves it. i wish for you to know that i will always be grateful for everything in our bond." eunha wanted to cry but she couldn't bring herself to crumble in front of the crown prince of her kingdom. "your royal highness, i have never regretted being one of your closest people and likewise, i apologize for my cluelessness towards your feelings as i did not realize them. i deeply apologize for not being able to reciprocate your royal highness' fondess towards me. i hope for your royal highness' safe return to hanyang." eunha bowed to the crown prince before hastly making her exit. she was sure the crown prince saw her tears fall. she was sure his hand twitched at the thought of wiping them off her cheeks so she left him there at the balcony. perhaps, it was better that way. they could contemplate by themselves on what has become of their bond— a tight knot of two strings that is hard to undo.

after that disastrous mess, the next winter and summer season did not see eunha's return as she spent those months travelling in europe to refresh her mind and enjoy life. this was after eunha voiced her intentions to her parents and hahyun over dinner of travelling and enjoying the scenery of a different country that does not know of her face and reputation. remembering the emotional scars and shock that was inflicted on their daughter, the marquess and marchioness willingly let their daughter travel this time accompanied by two of her most loyal handmaids. her temporary leave from the society caused the rumors and whispers to die down to her family and house's relief, especially lord hahyun as he kept writing to her updates on the society's situation.

when the previous winter season started, she wrote to her family from a villa in valencia, spain that she would be returning to the korean kingdom just before the start of the summer season as she did not deem herself ready to face the high society just yet. this was of course before news of her first cousin lord yul's wedding to lady suji reached her through letters from her parents, hahyun and lord yul himself who all urged her to return to the korean kingdom even if it's just for the wedding and celebratory festivities. even if she's outnumbered, eunha insisted that she return just in time for her twenty second birthday in march instead so she could immediately prepare for the summer season. deep down, giving herself and her family such an ultimatum may be the reminder that eunha and her family need to  prepare mentally and physically for a grand return to the society.

that has been the events leading up to lady eunha's now extended absence from the high society, causing the past events and news of her debut season to be well-forgotten amongst the nobles and royals... well, that was until she graces the steps of the summer season's first ball in front of the entire high society, having returned to the korean kingdom safely from europe in such a private manner to the point that not even her first cousin, the duke of lee was informed of such information.

but then again, the duke of lee seemed to forgot that his first cousin was won eunha, the lady who never settled for the ordinary.
"the unforeseeable, lady eunha from the house of won once was the season's shining diamond... it'd be interesting to see what unfolds as she makes her return to the high society. especially, regarding matters with the crown prince. certainly, it would make for an unforgettable stage play for all the society to watch."

flowers her favorites are cherry blossom and azaleas and she personally enjoys tending to the flowers of the estate herself while learning the meaning and symbolism of various flowers (꽃말 or "flower language" in korean) from her handmaids or gardeners. at this point, the only flower arrangements that can be displayed at their family's estates are the ones who get her approval. her father notes that she may have inherited her mother's favorite pastime activity.

queen sujeong remembered vaguely short glimpses of eunha as a child as her brother had befriended the crown prince and lord yul while eunha seemed to be picked on or teased by the crown prince often. it was then that queen sujeong had a strong gut feeling (or mother's instincts) that there was a hidden meaning behind the crown prince's actions but she decided to stay silent and observe from afar. this continued and the queen grew to be quite interested in lady eunha's growth.

taking note of eunha's debut season and first impression, queen sujeong could not deny that won eunha had caught her attention thus giving the young woman the nickname of the unforeseeable as she just knew from the whispers on everyone else's lips that eunha would be an interesting factor of unpredictability in the high society.

of course, eunha respects queen sujeong but does not go to extreme extents to get on her good side, something the queen has taken notice of and admires her for. deep down, the queen hoped that eunha would be the lady for the crown prince, especially considering some childhood memories as she was the best choice in that season's women.

the news that broke confirmed her age-long suspicions that it was indeed the crown prince who had a deep-rooted affection with the lady but the fashion in which the new broke and the aftermath that came with it saddened her deeply as eunha's reputation of being the season's shining diamond was disgraced in a matter of moments. she understood eunha's decision to flee for the remainder of the season (later on, for the next few seasons as well), immediately calling over the crown prince so that she could scold him. "that is not how you handle the temperament of a lady, young prince," she started off. as a mother, she felt very responsible for the actions of the crown prince thus she personally wrote to lady eunha to convey her remorse while also apologizing for the crown prince's lack of manners towards women.

eunha gained a deeper level of respect and admiration for the queen thus feeling more guilty and embarrassed inside that she has not been able to prove herself worthy enough to her.

upon hearing whispers of lady eunha's return to the kingdom just in time for the start of the summer season, the queen rejoiced at the thought of her unforeseeable returning to provide competition amongst the women of the season. queen sujeong has seen the crown prince return to his promiscous ways during the absence of the lady so she is looking forward to see how the crown prince reacts and behaves around the lady upon her return to the society.

this time, queen sujeong hopes that the crown prince will be brave enough to convey his feelings and mature enough to know the appropriate means to do so.

CROWN PRINCE JUWON,
IMPERIAL HOUSE OF KIM
quite complicated, 45%

"the one whose in need of stiches from the irreversible hurt she caused him."

the crown prince grew up as one of her brother's closest friends and she became used to seeing him around the estate ever so often. even as a kid, eunha could not fathom why the crown prince enjoyed picking on her and teasing her while being more rigid in his speech. he often got on her nerves, irritating her before she tells on him to hahyun who more often that not had to step in to separate the two. it caused eunha to see him as annoying (putting brother figure along with that phrase does not sit with her) and she finds herself retaliating every single time.

this continued until the time of her departure to england came. by then, she had already gotten used to his rigid, thorny and chilly behavior to the point it no longer bothers her at all. she had gotten used to how he would and annoy her only to have him try to make amends by apologizing. eunha still remembered the chilly farewell he gave her, a flick on the forehead and a simple "i'll see you when i'm taller"

the crown prince during the time she was gone grew to become promiscous as he started to explore his adolescence. even if lord yul and lord hahyun disapprove of his rendezvous, he doesn't listen. turns out, the only one he ever listened to was eunha. he was glad to know that she actually considered him important enough in her life that she personally wrote to him from the confines of st. margaret's school, replying to her with stories of his own. for some reason, he always looked forward to her letters even if his was more shorter in writing or more full of drawings comparede to those of lord yul and lord hahyun.

it was when she returned from england that he had realized he had missed her presence all this time. "glad you're back, little lady," was the way he greeted her to which eunha rolled her eyes per usual. eunha was quite surprised at the crown prince's growth in stature as he indeed become taller in the time she was gone. after a friendly welcome meal together, eunha decided to start the conversation with him by saying "so, i hear from the two lords that you have spirited rendezvous, yes? even after all i told you?" to which he replied "can we not have a day without fighting? i would like to retract my sentiments of missing you." eunha smirked, "good to know i've been missed, your royal highness."

for some reason, the crown prince found himself keeping a close eye on eunha upon her start of preparations for her debut season. he would find his eyes travel to follow her movement, his legs walking towards her at a gathering, his lips uttering several ridiculous reasons for her to keep him company and his heart going on its own see-sawing as he is near her. all while eunha keeps a composed and relaxed front as she had always seen him as a reliable, comfortable friend.

of course, he could not confine in his two closest friends for they have close ties to eunha so the young prince had to keep this strange feeling to himself. however, the moment eunha walked the steps to her debut season's first ball, the crown prince whispered to his loyal knight, "i think i will have to offer my first dance to that child" to which he did. eunha remembered whispering to him, "rare to see you dancing, your royal highness, i thought you'd be elsewhere" and juwon simply replied, "well, [i] guess the lady deserved my dance as she has successfully gained my full attention tonight. or else, she already knows where i would be." eunha chuckled, "well, then, this lady is quite honoured to have prevent your royal highness from spending the night with a woman in bed."

the two continued such interactions as they agreed to cooperate in a ruse for eunha to attract the best suitors and for the crown prince to counter stories of him being a ladies' man. perhaps, this had started the whispers and rumours regarding their relationship and closeness. both lord yul and lord hahyun seemed to have caught on with the feelings of their friend hidden under the alibi of his ruse with lady eunha to which both have consistently reminded him not to play around with the lady as there are consequences to his actions of such manner.

lord hahyun specifically told the crown prince once at a sporting event, "i do not object if your heart settles on my sister but... you cannot play around with her heart strings, your royal highness. it will only ruin her whole." eunha admitted to hahyun and lord hahyun when they approached her that she did not see the crown prince as a subject of her attraction or affection and is only doing so to have the best suitors call for her. it was in that moment that both lord yul and hahyun realized that their friend's feelings were unrequited but they chose to keep silent as it was not their place to do so.

it was a few weeks later that the crown prince decided to express his clear feelings towards her at a ball. different than usual, the crown prince offered to take her last dance over the first and lady eunha, knowing that all eyes were on her, accepted. mid-dance, the crown prince whispered to her, "i have something to ask of the lady tonight." eunha looked into his eyes with curiosity. "would the lady be willing to give her fourth finger to the crown prince?" eunha's eyes widened, "is your royal highness serious?" for the first time since she's known him, eunha saw a genuine smile on his face as he said, "your royal highness apologizes as he has been quite slow to realize his deeply rooted feelings for the lady... as it seems i have had my heart settled since you returned from england."

eunha was shocked as the past few weeks started to sink into her. he had liked her for a long time. in that moment, somehow, the only reaction her body could give was for her legs to run away from the spot and from him. he ran after her and with his physicality, he soon caught up to her. "please, your royal highness, i'd like to process this alone, i-it's quite a shock," she said as he tried to grab her wrist. "why, is it because you did not see me as a possible suitor? me out all people, lady eunha?" there was a hint of shock in his voice as well. she nodded. "well, then, i believe you have beaten me at my own game, lady eunha as my whole person has come to sincerely fall for you." eunha has never seen such reactions from him. "the victory is not a pleasant one, your royal highness," she said as she took her leave with her brother hahyun chasing after her.

looking back, eunha should've seen the signs of his affection and attraction towards her. how could she have been so clueless to the feelings of one of her longest relations? after the disastrous season passed and the crown prince had apologized, eunha has distanced herself from him as the scars and shock had not subsided within her. being around him would only hurt them both so her travel to europe helped the distance between them to come more naturally.

the crown prince, since then, has locked his heart in a place hidden very deep and continued his promiscous behaviour as an attempt to forget about lady eunha. for a while, the crown prince was convinced he had forgotten and had no remaining feelings for the lady.

however, with the lady set to return for the summer season of 1813, both eunha and the crown prince will be in dire straits as they must face one another again in a season that will prove itself to be very interesting with the crown prince's succession and his intentions to find a bride. the question in everyone's minds would be is lady eunha's grasp on the crown prince still as strong as it was before or will the crown prince's heart fall on another woman?

LORD YUL, DUKE FROM THE
HOUSE OF LEE
first cousin, close friend, 85%

"the one who promises to protect the shine in her eyes he so ever enjoyed seeing."

being her first cousin, once removed through her mother who is a younger sibling of lord yul's father, eunha always seemed to shy away from the duke of lee as he had intimidated her at first. it was only until the duke forged a budding friendship with lord hahyun that lady eunha seemed to ease around him, more so since in contrary to his intimidating first impression, lord yul was quite warm and attentive towards her.

lord yul himself did not have much visible affection towards his family but the shine in eunha's eyes helped him imagine what life would be like if he had a sister much like her so that's why he treated with much courtesy and friendliness. he still calls her "little kid", the nickname that he gave her as a child as the image of her being the spirited child back in the day was still prominent in his mind. eunha had always seen the duke as a comforting brother figure, one that would always cheer her up and keep her company with all his jokes.

that was why eunha kept her promise to exchange letter with him during her time in england and knowing he'd sulk if she did not bring home a gift or two for him, she handpicked a gift that suited him. upon her return to the korean kingdom, lord yul was joyful as he had missed her presence, joking to his two friends that they become too calm after she left and needed to get scolded by eunha in order to become fun again. eunha had missed her cousin equally as there was no comforting presence beside her during her time at st. margaret's, realizing how difficult it was for him to be a source of reliability for others around him. the moment he heard of her retun, the duke jumped into his carriage to go to the won estate to welcome her back into the korean kingdom.

lord yul promised to help eunha out during her debut season, knowing how much forms of preparations her mama had laid out for her. perfect was the rule of thumb with lady dajeong, his aunt so he understood the possible struggles within eunha herself to strive for such results. after all, eunha had always been tough-minded and never shown signs of tiring out to others.

that made him root for her during her debut, hoping the best results for her so when the variable of the crown prince came into the equation, lord yul had a hunch that this will bring an unexpected wave of events in the season. this hunch, after certain events, would prove itself to be true. on crossroadsd between being eunha's cousin and the crown prince's best friend, lord yul chose to mediate the situation the best he could when lord hahyun gave the crown prince a punch or two. honestly, he could not bear to see his closest people fall out starting from eunha's shock, juwon's unrequited feelings and hahyun's anger and frustration.

that caused many to see lord yul as the biggest victim of the situation as he became occupied in making everyone feel better in turns. he gave eunha time to herself until the remainder of the season while he made sure hahyun and juwon reconciled with each other. after a while, he frequently wrote to eunha and would visit her. this was until she annouonced her intention to travel. he pitied her young cousin, she seemed very out of character that day so he tried to fake a smile as he told her, "you'll be fine after time passes. you'll heal, little kid. you're strong."

eunha wrote to him during his travels on the scenery she woke up and slept to. lord yul often replied to her with his own rendition of the sceneries he saw. although, he kept eunha in the dark regarding matters of marriage, causing her to be surprised upon the news last season that he'd be married to lady suji. to this, lord yul wrote to her, "little kid, it's best that we leave talks regarding matters of the heart for when we can see each other as i have many stories to tell you. i pray for your when your heart calls for it. for now, please stay healthy and safe."

lord yul's reply to her decision not to come home was because he understood eunha when she did not come home for his wedding, knowing that she didn't want to cause disturbance or rumors during a time of joy for the couple and that deep down, she had not healed fully yet to the point where she could present herself upon the society as if nothing had happened.

so, of course, when he received from her a letter that she would return in time for her twenty second birthday, many thoughts appeared in the mind of the duke of lee as there were many things for him to worry about for eunha, starting from the crown prince to the season itself to her emotional health to how he would introduce lady suji to her. at the end of the day, the duke decided to prioritize welcoming her back with warmth and a smile over other things.

returning to the high society will not be an easy stroll in town for eunha but she knows that it would have to happen sooner or later so lord yul can only reassure her and assist her throughout the season to which eunha feels safe knowing that lord yul would always come to clean up the messes along the way. he allows her to carry a bit of calm within her as she prepares to return.

LORD SANGHYUN, LADY DAJEONG,
MARQUESSATE FROM THE HOUSE OF WON
parents, 88%

"the ones whose crimson fire is a double-edged sword to her."

after all that's happened in her life, eunha will be forever grateful to have her parents. even if times of dire straits, they had her back, supporting her while doing the best they could to minimize the amount of whispers and rumours about her. for her parents, nobody should mess with their daughter and lord sanghyun had given her suitors a hard time as if it had not been difficult enough with hahyun on standby with her sister.

eunha's father, though showing a strict and serious front, always had a gentle touch on her and hahyun behind the back of their mother. he had a soft spot for her as she was the daughter, making use of the time before her debut to fully support her in material and emotional forms. her father posed as the opposite of her mother even if he knew that he could not sway whatever decision his wife takes regarding their children. he always extended a comforting hand to his children, something their mother did not give often.

as for her mother, eunha has mixed feelings as her mother motivated her to be her best, to be perfect yet that same motivation caused her many emotional pain inside. to be perfect in her mother's eyes was tough as the inability to confide in her own mother led to complications or a layer of complexity to their mother-daughter relationship. eunha does love her mother and the material and educational facilities she provides her but sometimes, it can be too much.

so, of course, her father had many quarrels with her mother upon the news that broke during her debut season regarding her and the crown prince. her mother was both mad and intrigued as eunha should've known better than to engage in a ruse with the crown prince while also marvelling at the thought of her daughter being the subject of affection and attraction in the crown prince's heart. her father only had eunha's wellbeing in mind so he could not possibly let eunha go to the crown prince after the shocking revelations while her mother wanted such an arrangement.

"this is her golden opportunity, she could be a princess!" her mother shouted at her husband to which he replied, "there is no reason to force our daughter to settle on someone she does not feel for." eunha cried on the spot, surprising both parents who immediately stopped arguing. she felt remorse for being the reason the their arguments. this feeling became the main reason she intended to travel. it was so that everyone could just heal with her away as time passes and the rumors die down in the high society.

one would say that time did heal the marquess and marchioness of hwasanju as they saw the process of rumors regarding their daughter fade away but it has not done its job for eunha as she struggles to throw away her remorse towards those closest to her. she often cries when reading the letters written to her by her parents that give her wisdom in facing hardships and restoring her emotional health as she viewed herself as a woman far from the perfect that her mother searches in her. she felt like she failed them even if the letters addressed to her say otherwise.

yet, eunha could not deny that she missed her parents and the sights and scent of her home, growing tired and angry at herself upon the realization that she ran away from her problems like a coward. this caused eunha to give her family and herself an ultimatum. no matter how she was feeling inside, she would return in march for her birthday and prepare for the summer season. she wrote to her parents, "fear not, mother and father as i have given myself until my birthday to rebloom as a changed version of myself. fear not as i have tired and contained anger at myself. i promise to you, i will return with ambitions to prove them all wrong of me."

this news caused joy in her parents as they would have their daughter return to their side, hopefully healed and ready to present herself upon the society stronger than she did when she temporarily left. to this, they along hahyun are ready to give them their full support to her and see to it that nothing can ruin her season again.

LORD HAHYUN, HOUSE OF WON, EARL FROM THE HOUSE OF WON twin brother, 92% (too prideful to give him 100%)

"the one whom she sees as her twin flame, always by her side until the very end."

when it comes to the matters regarding her brother, eunha does not need to resort to lengthy words to describe her sentiments towards him. he is her other half, the one that completes her and protects her. they both see each other as one another's biggest allies, confiding in one another. they gain strength from being together and eunha has grown to rely on hahyun more often than not.

perhaps the most tight-knight siblings in the whole high society, one must know to fear lord hahyun when it comes to the subject of his sister. growing up with his protection and companionship, sometimes eunha has come to critic her brother's over-protectiveness towards her even if she knows that he means well. he does not meddle in her affairs but there is the feeling of too much attention from him to her at certain times to which lord hahyun has learned to stop doing so. he always listens well to her words.

the two compliment each other well, with lord hahyun's calm wind bringing peace to lady eunha's fire and thunder. after everything that's happened, lord hahyun can only hope the best for his sister as he knows of the devastation she felt upon the crash of her would-be successful debut season. eunha knows that hahyun will always want the best for her and it became one of her motivations to heal. his brother was everything and she knew if she felt pain, he would too.

despite all that, eunha looks forward to reunite with her brother to tell stories of her travels and to hear of his life without her as she always joked that he could not be well without her. even if she says such things, deep down, eunha always hoped that her brother would open his heart and feel for someone as she told him, "you cannot continue life as it is, brother dearest. things will change when i can no longer stand by your side."

with the new season approaching, eunha and hahyun both hope that it completes itself peacefully. but then again, it was the korean kingdom. anything could happen.

PRINCESS JUYEON,
IMPERIAL HOUSE OF KIM
rivals, 45% (tiffanybluex's app)

"the one that got away only to return again, with her own dramatic plots."

despite not having interactions within the same social season, juyeon does not really see eunha in a good light due to the constant comparison by queen sujeong between her and eunha. the queen sees eunha as one of the best women in the society and it causes juyeon's life as the eldest princess in the royal family to be more difficult than it already is because she feels like she has to step up her game to outshine eunha.

knowing juwon's past (or even present) feelings towards eunha, juyeon enjoys using lady eunha as a jab towards juwon's pride and actions. she enjoys every second his eyes yearn for her and his fist twitching at the sight of eunha. however, eunha always treats the princess with high respect and empathy as they both have experienced their own share of scandals and malicious rumours, juyeon with her escape of marrying prince yinzhi and eunha with matters of the crown prince, juyeon's half-brother. the fact that the two would be seen in the same events for the upcoming season itself is already interesting. surely, their interactions will make the season more worth the attention.

LADY ISEUL, DAUGHTER OF DUKEDOM FROM THE HOUSE OF MYEONG
unexpectedly friends, 75% (bimboficated's app)

"the one deemed the unordinary noble lady in the whole society... unexpectedly her friend."

any noble would expect lady iseul and lady eunha to have their hands in each other's hairs as they glare at one another due to their contrasting personas yet similar personalities. however, any of them would be surprised to see both ladies be civil and friendly with one another. iseul enjoys eunha's company and despite what she says, having a reliable "friend" in iseul reasures eunha that she is indeed a nice person after all.

iseul always seems to be supportive of her and voices how much being friends with eunha is sacred and meaningful to her. the two ladies, iseul being the older twin while eunha is the younger one, can be seen having their own twins squared interactions at events as iseul picks on ilseong while hahyun babies eunha around. it goes to the point where ilseong would ask iseul, "why can't you let me take care of you like lord hahyun does to lady eunha?" to which iseul would laugh and say, "do you think i need your care, brother? i'm myeong iseul, after all."

close first cousins, 72% (exponentially_me's app)

"the one and only that she sees with affectionate eyes, making a combination many fear of."

unlike her rather rocky and initially strained relationship with cousin lady yeongju, the younger sister lady kyungah is quite close to eunha as they are rather similar in terms of personality. eunha sees kyungah as a younger sister she never had thus they grew up sitting down at a table and share gossips on the most juiciest news items in the kingdom. although to others, it would appear as if the two ladies are plotting for social domination instead, making for a combination others would rather steer away from. kyungah loves to receive advice on her love life from eunha and in turn, the older lady shares to her younger cousin the stories of her romance with the prince of gong, prince yongxue.

other than the matters of the heart and romance, the two enjoy talking about their brothers. though kyungah is not close to lord yul as eunha is, she is close to hahyun and it makes for an interesting dynamic as the younger lady often tells eunha of lord yul's antics to her in hopes of eunha would retaliate on her behave, hiding behind lord hahyun if that happens.

WARDROBE
it is hard to predict what the young bachelor would wear to important gatherings within his time in the korean high society during the social season as his wardrobe has a wide range in variations of tang suits, zhongshan suits, walking suits, sporting suits and evening suits. to show his culture and diferentiate himself slightly from the other bachelors, he would sometimes wear clothes with touches of his chinese origins on special occassions.

any member of the korean high society would agree that whatever the young duke from wenzhou wears, he will look absolutely handsome and charming in them. there is an aura to him that causes those in the room to be fully focused on his face and swoon over bonghwang eyes, the best eye shape within the realm of korean face-reading. in addition to that, his stature of 183 centimetres cause his muscular legs to be more emphasized in whatever clothing he wears. many of the society's member have come to note that the young bachelor seems to enjoy wearing clothes in blue, red, black and white more. PERSONALITY

perceptive, tactful, compassionate, action-oriented, selfless
infj-a, 5w4, phlegmatic, ravenclaw, insp. ki seongyeom
enigmatic, unemotional, unpredictable, tight-lipped, self-effacing

yongxue is much like a flower growing out of concrete. despite his tendency to avoid attention and carry himself quietly through the day, there is a beauty to him when you notice him or pay attention to him closely. those who talk to the prince note on his insights of the world, the business, the gossip as he seems to have a deep understanding of things while seeing things from a different perspective. there is poetry to his words, both artistic through the choice of expression and words as well as considerate of the person he is talking to, always choosing the right time and place for his sentences. there is warmth and concern in his eyes and actions towards those around him as he carries with him a heart of gold and empathy. he does not speak through his words, choosing to show himself through his actions. quick on his feet, the prince often solves problems hands-on and his actions, despite being silence, speaks or screams many words.

there is no wrong in being selfless as he often acts without expecting anything in return, believing that it is this attitude that will bring him unconditional happiness in life. he finds solice in the smiles of others when he helps through his means. however, once he returns to his chambers at the end of the day, the prince finds himself excluding his own needs, emotions and priorities from his own life as he lives a life dedicated to others over his own. there is also no wrong in his puzzling persona that often more than not requires deciphering or analysing as sometimes, those with less words attracts more glances than those who chat on for minutes. however, even his closest subjects have difficulty in figuring him out or matching his emotions with his actions as he always seems to keep a distance from others. it often leaves those around him rather lonely.

the memories of his upbringing provide reason for his lack of words and expression. many rely on him for duties, causing his emotions and feelings to be put behind in his list of priorities. he is emotionally constipated due to this, causing him to have a coolheaded or placid attitude in most situations and for him to keep his feelings or inner demons a matter of confidentiality. the cycle of mind within him causes him to disregard his feelings as unimportant in matters requiring decision-making. his head controls him, not his emotions yet that causes an air of unpredictability to the prince as nobody knows when his emotions will spill over and take over his actions above his logic. it only takes one moment for his coolheaded to melt into a fire and causes fear as the prince does not seem like the type to burst. his unassuming demeanor causes him to often be underestimated by others, including fellow royals and nobels or ill-minded commoners.

BACKGROUND
son of prince gong of first rank aisin gioro hongcheng and princess yunxia, yongxue never saw it coming that he'd inherit his father's title at the age of four. his father had passed away due to a one afternoon in wenzhou, the territory of his uncle, the governor-general for min-zhe (fujian, zhejiang and taiwan) as he had told his wife he would visiting his brother beforehand. with yongxue being the only child of prince gong, it was determined that he would be raised under the arms of his uncle, hongxin in wenzhou (though, many regard this as an action to prevent political opposition from yongxue) as many record of the concerning behavior of princess yunxia after the death.
as with their child being too young to comprehend death, the aftermath of the sudden passing of her husband saw princess yunxia descending into constant depression and sorrow.

if you ask the prince of his upbringing, he has many memories he does not wish to utter; the imagery of his mother crying herself to sleep as she called for her husband, her empty eyes as she ate at the dining table, the smell of tobacco that lingers on her clothes and her fragile stature that became unsettlingly thin whom he hugged with the same affection nevertheless. there were fond memories despite this; his uncle teaching him horse-riding, swordsmanship, archery, literature and ethics, the scenery of the sunset that fell on wenzhou, the chinese opera he enjoyed quite a lot, being taken to his uncle's office and the presence of his uncle whom he saw as both a father figure, older brother and friend. he aspired to be his uncle's equivalent, studying dilligently and he remembered how he had read myths, folklore and fiction to his mother at night before she fell to sleep. of course, this would turn into a bitter past to him as he remembered one night, when he was fifteen, she didn't respond to his greetings. she had in her hands an elixir, the possible cause of death.

prince yongxue's story is one of enduring hardships, of the flower growing out of cement he was. he does not wish to drown in the same sorrow or remorse his mother felt and so, lives on carrying with him hope in humanity. he had spent the past four years assisting his uncle in his work while practicing his swordmanship and literature. this was before he was given surprising news from his uncle that a noble family in min-zhe had called for him to arrange a marriage between their daughter and yongxue. though his uncle had not yet given his answer, yongxue strongly disapproved. he could not wed a woman he did not know. that was not the love his uncle taught him. as if on queue, prince yongxue received a letter from queen sujeong, personally inviting him as her royal guest to the korean high society's first ball. yongxue told his uncle he will not accept a marriage, opting to stay in the korean kingdom until his uncle rejects such an arrangement. that was how and why prince yongxue made his entrance to the korean high society. all according to queen sujeong's plan.

mourning his parents june 15th is his father's death anniversary while july 14th is his mother's. yongxue allows himself to actually show emotions and crumble alone in front of his parents' funeral (both burried in beijing) before crying out all the tears until nothing's left in his heart. he does this as he needed a natural reason to break down. his uncle seems to have caught on with his "reason" but keeps quiet.
intentions to marry he has yet the intentions to marry as he knows many women tire of him after sharing several conversations with him due to their curiosity towards his enigmatic presence fading out. especially now, as he visits the korean kingdom, he is only waiting out until his uncle writes to him on the rejection to the arranged marriage. of course, all is to change once a lady walks into the ball.
queen sujeong, what are your plans for the prince gong? "why, a social season is not without surprises and i have come up with my own. i've had my eyes on prince yongxue for a while now, his father and uncle both likely allies or partners of mine. he is an enigma, indeed. even within his own royal court. who knows, perhaps a skillfull lady of my royal family or of the noble houses can woo him into a marriage. that could perhaps pressure juwon into one as well. surely, the mamas will have their ambitions set on either of the princes."
THEIR STORY

"all eyes are on the queen's guest, prince yongxue. his silent entrance into the kingdom has turned hearts and stolen hearts. who does not want to be a princess to foreign royalty? the prince from the nanxi river will prove himself an interesting addition to the equation as we may have a battle of royals on our hands. so, mamas and ladies, who will it be this season, prince yongxue or crown prince juwon?"
— unknown

the two will meet each other at the beginning of the season as queen sujeong invited prince yongxue to the ball so that the season will be one of the most grand of them all. before the festivities begin, queen sujeong will introduce prince yongxue to the season's incomparable, the season's diamond before moving on to introduce lady eunha, the shining diamond from a past season. she curtsies before him, welcoming him in chinese, "may the moon shine brightly upon us tonight, your royal highness, as we welcome you to our kingdom." those who understood what eunha said to the prince will both shake their heads and awe at the courage to say such an impactful remark. won eunha is truly back. queen sujeong smiles and so does prince yongxue. "she is among the most proficient in chinese in our society, your royal highness," queen sujeong tells the prince as she observes the movement of her son, crown prince juwon at the end of her line of sight. interestingly, he twitched for a moment while quickly downing the glass of champagne in his hand. she knew he'd react.

"if that's so, would the lady be kind enough to have a dance and stand beside me as she can entertain me with her own grasp of chinese and for translation purposes too, of course" he asked eunha as he stared into her eyes. "it'd truly be an honour of mine, your royal highness," she replied as she took the hand of the prince. all eyes were on them, including crown prince juwon. in such intense attention, the music slowed down as the two make their way to center stage and as the two started to gracefully dance, hand-in-hand, the world was as if it was just the two of of them.

"it's as if she never left, isn't it, cousin? how could she have thought of such an act? she's my twin sister but sometimes, she scares me," lord hahyun told lord yul as they both indulged in a drink or two.

"is it not as expected from a diamond in the rough, cousin? it is entertaining, the look on all's faces right now. your sister has truly made up her mind, has she not?" lord yul replied back with a smile.

"well, it'd be of no use if she does not wed at the end of the season," crown prince juwon cut into their conversation as he also grabbed a glass.

lord hahyun and lord yul exchanged looks before they came to comfort and pick on their friend when in fact, they shared the same thought in their mind. surely, they were all in for an eventful season once more.

"the high society queen sujeong has introduced me was lavish but it was still enjoyable to see the ladies and mothers engage with one another. i only remembered one lady whose hand i asked to dance, uncle. yuán yínhé [won eunha]. you know i do not often go through the hastle to dance but surely, uncle, the lady's presence was the loudest in the room, as if pulling me closer to her gravity."
— prince yongxue, a paragraph from a letter to his uncle

to this point, yongxue does not know the reason to his offering of a dance and such a request to eunha. perhaps, it was a spur of the moment from within. he just felt like it. yongxue remembered that night vividly; conversations with the lady, the dance, her understanding and opinion on certain chinese literature, an anecdote of hers on learning the language, her own rendition of advice on surviving the mothers and the society ("it is perhaps easier for your royal highness to simply say you cannot speak the language, just say 저는 한국어를 할 수 없습니다 and you will be fine," she told him). there was something to the lady that did not feel deliberate, that she actually enjoyed sharing conversations even with a bachelor of foreign origin like him, with a man of his personality who does not know how to talk much. it just settled in his mind that he was lucky to have encountered her as the first impression of lady eunha lingered in his head to the point where he wrote an entire page about her when he was writing to his uncle.

his uncle replied, "i do not oppose your decisions, dear nephew if you wish to court the lady as i believe in your judgement. please, do know that i have rejected the marriage arrangement so if you wish to stay in that kingdom, i only wish for an unregretful return home. may you find happiness there."

yongxue was conflicted; his mind wanted to be relieved at his uncle's actions of rejecting the marriage arrangement while his heart wanted to rejoice at the thought of an extend in his stay but for what reason?

"why settle for any other noble when you can have a prince, my dear? especially, when his eyes searches for you before yours does."
"not if it's crown prince juwon, mother."
"whoever said anything about our kingdom's prince..."
"whatever made you think of prince yongxue, mother?"
"everything, my dear. it is a mother's instinct."

— a conversation between lady eunha and lady dajeong

eunha remembered the journey home that night as her mother was overjoyed, bragging to eunha on how she left in triumph over the other mothers when they saw eunha dance with prince yongxue. i have missed this feeling, my dear as things were not the same without my own blood with me, her mother said. eunha smiled. she had missed her mother, despite all that's happened in her life. her father and brother had sung her praises as well. though, hahyun whispered in her ear a warning as they embraced before she returned to her room, "keep in mind the variable of the crown prince, he could easily come to you at any moment. when that moment comes, you must be ready for anything, dear sister".

eunha appreciated her brother's concern as she whispered back, "i will always be ready, brother. you seem to have forgotten who i am." hahyun faintly smiled. he was happy for her. the shine in her eyes has returned.

she recalled the night before she slept in glee. she had just spent the entire night being enchanted by the prince's eyes and presence to the point she could not hear no other whispers. it was as if no other voice and sound mattered. yet, she did not hate it at all. such an encounter with the prince gong, prince yongxue had caused her first night back in the society to be memorable, worthy of all's attention and awe. such a night caused her to be grateful of her choice to return to the kingdom on her own accord. nights like this can only be experienced in a social season back home.

"the prince from the nanxi river was spotted walking at the avenue with lady eunha this afternoon. odd? surely not. interesting? absolutely so, as even i could sense the gaze of the crown prince continue to follow lady eunha. perhaps, we will witness a lady forgetting one prince with another... a feat befitting of who was once the season's shining diamond."
— unknown

since that night, eunha continued to have the prince's company at social events. she did not expect such persistence but she did not reject it because her judgement told her that the prince was certainly courting her, considering that he does not answer to any other lady and only presents a faint smile to her. news of the prince courting her caused the queen to smirk. she did not expect a foreign royal to share the same preference as her son. "oh, dear juwon, my son, you certainly have the baddest fate of them all to see one you love and miss so bad fall for another," she would mutter one day as she continued to see from afar the look of anguish on the crown prince's face. yet, deep down, queen sujeong had perhaps predicted this. it would be best for the lady to fall for one who cared for her with tact and compassion over her own son who had caused her troubles.

seeing that a prince was courting her, eunha's "value" or "prestige" increased to which many other noble bachelor to call for her but her parents and her brother have come to notice that eunha shines the brightest at the side of the prince from the nanxi river as he's come to be known by amongst the nobles of the society. her brother, especially, noticed that eunha did not hide behind a persona of a "desireable" lady in front of the prince. she managed herself, expressed her feelings freely and the prince still had his eyes on her. he and lord yul have shared a few words with the prince and they see him in a positive light. the only problem was their friend, crown prince. they cannot predict his actions.

so, it happened during a sporting event as the crown prince interrupted eunha and prince yongxue who was walking with linked arms, asking the prince for some time to speak with the lady in private. however, yongxue could see it, the longing that was oozing in the eyes of the crown prince standing before them. he simply could not let eunha go to him as he told him, "i believe you could just say it here, could you not? the lady seems reluctant to step aside somewhere else to speak with you." the crown prince clicked his tongue at such a response, "i wonder if that's truly the case, prince yongxue. would the lady not regret if she does not take to this chance to resolve past misunderstandings once and for all?"

eunha glared at juwon as she said, "i do regret over the past, your royal highness as i find that i should not be the one to wallow in self-pity for your unrequited feelings. i apologize for any inconvience i've caused your royal highness and i wish only the absolute best for your royal highness upon your upcoming succession." eunha could feel her heart beating fast and perhaps, even yongxue could hear it as he immediately timed their leave from the spot. he could see the relief in her expression. eunha was grateful for the prince's assistance, not letting her go at all costs.

it was in that moment that prince yongxue whispered to her, "i did well, did i not, my dear lady?" to which eunha smiled. "your royal highness seems to have been smug just now or am i mistaken?" she replied.

as if the grin he wore on his face upon hearing her reply was not enough to melt eunha's heart, he jokingly replied back to her, "of course, it is only in the presence of the lady that i find myself having such lovely behavior. "

"dear cousin, there is just something about his eyes, his touch and his steps that cause my eyes to search for him in my line of sight, my heart to skip when he takes my hand for a dance or a walk and my lips to form a smile i do not give often. what has taken over me? surely, you must know from your experience from lady suji..."
— lady eunha, an excerpt from a letter to lord yul

as time passes in the season, eunha finds herself searching for him in the crowd of nobles, hoping to dance or just share conversation with him as she prays inside that another lady has not caught his attention. she had a judgement of such behavior. was she falling in love with the prince from the nanxi river? such a question can be easily answered by her family and her handmaids on her behalf in a single heartbeat. no, she already is.

she voiced her feelings to her brother one night, also writing her concerns to lord yul. her brother quietly listened to her lengthy explanations of her feelings before cutting her to sum it up for her, "my dear sister, you should not worry of your feelings for loving someone does not need an explanation. love comes without needing to be searched for and it seems that yours has come to you this season". he hugged her, patting her head in the process as he was happy and proud at how far she has bettered herself ever since coming back. if it was from her brother, eunha should believe such a statement. more so, after lord yul wrote back to her, also writing of his opinion that she has come to love prince yongxue. at this point, eunha could not deny or stray from it any longer that she loves him.

"it seems as if the lady, once the shining diamond, has settled her heart. oh, it is truly beautiful how they dance and look at each other. undoubtedly, this is the pair that was meant to be. this is love."
— queen sujeong as she watches from afar

prince yongxue wrote to his uncle of his intentions to propose to the lady that may lead to an extension of his already extended stay at the kingdom. he didn't care, though. his mind was full of thoughts of her. it was all that mattered to him at this point. he ended being called by the marquess of hwasanju to join for dinner at the house of won's family estate where he voiced the change of his intentions to marry upon his stay in the kingdom as he's found himself wanting to marry... lady eunha, specifically.

such a proposal, one of a pair that loved one another, created good news in the capital— one that the queen came to dub "a pair whose love is one for the ages". many come to congratulate eunha on her engagement, especially her brother lord hahyun and lord yul. even lady suji whom she has bonded with over the season joined in congratulating her, happily offering some advice from her own marriage to help eunha's upcoming one.

eunha remembered the night they danced under fireworks at an event.

"do you know what korean words i've been learning?" his impromptu question caused a look of curiosity on her face. as if he had expected such a reaction, he wore a grin as he pronounced the sentence precisely, "당신을 사모합니다 (思慕합니다), was i correct?" tears threatened to fall down her cheeks as she was moved, only able to utter a whispering "yes". it is moments such as these that the cold bonghwang in yongxue softens, showcasing the exuberence of a puppy in front of his owner.

the best part of all these moments was that he was hers.

hi there, i'm silvi.

POST SCRIPT i finally finished and i have no regrets because i really poured a lot on this one. i hope you enjoyed her and the story i crafted for her, which i'm open to change a few details accordingly. i left the love story a bit loose and the presence of crown prince juwon was written to not be as strong as in the background since there could be applicants who would pair their apps with him so i didn't want his presence to be too much. i'm very excited to hear what you think of her because i had a lot of thought to her personality and background (honestly, she sounds so mean and like a villain but then, i forgot that that's exactly how joo seok kyung is perceived in penthouse) and research to build yongxue's character (crying intensifies as i don't pay attention to my chinese socio-economic history class).

PASSWORD orchestral rendition of red velvet's bad boy followed by one of daniel caesar's best part so like a playful and energetic dance followed by a slow dance where she dances with yongxue as they lock eyes and he shows a subtle grin on his face.

SCENE REQUESTS
hahyun and eunha having their sibling moments as they should
❃ eunha meeting lady suji and trying to bond with her as i think i did not mention her much in the app because eunha doesn't know her well
❃ lovely and romantic yongxue and eunha moments
❃ archery competition between the ladies who can do it and they engage in a bet (if that's allowed for the ladies, of course)
❃ closure for the crown prince? i felt like i just left him out at the end
❃ eunha having a secret rendezvous with yongxue at night or in the middle of a social event that's a bit boring.
❃ more tba.
