BACKGROUND » Hana was born on December 16, 1993 in Seoul, South Korea to a wealthy business man, Jang Hyun Soo and dance instructor, Hailey Williams. Hana's mother is Welsh and studied abroad in Korea for four years, coming from the States. During her time in Korea, she met Hana's father when he was still a university student and fell in love. They had Hana in their final year as college students and lived in Seoul for eight years until moving to London, United Kingdom. While Hana lived in Seoul, she became friends with someone named Kim Myungsoo, which was rare since she was often discriminated against because of her mixed race. Myungsoo was kind enough to befriend Hana which resulted in them having a brother-sister relationship. They were only kids at that time and neither would know that things would be different years later into the future. Myungsoo was the saddest when Hana and her family moved to London.  

 

She finally realized what she wanted to do and had the desire to audition for various entertainments in Korea. She had various YouTube videos uploaded with her covering various artists and those were well recieved. She began writing her own songs and performing them once she gained more confidence. With this experience, she felt she was ready for auditions in Korea.What helped fueled her decision was also due to Myungsoo. He had mentoned that he became a trainee under an entertainment named Woollim. Standing on the same stage together seemed to be both of their goals and Hana was more sure than ever that singing was what she wanted to do. She sent an audition to JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, and to Woollim Entertainment. 3 out of the four she had passed but only one of them was enough to make Hana's dreams come true, or so she thought. In 2009, she officially joined Woollim Entertainment as a trainee. Her parents reluctantly agreed to let her move to South Korea where she stayed in the dorms of the company.

Myungsoo was selected to be part of the line up for Woollim's first idol boy group, Infinite. Hana never really saw much of Myungsoo but when she did, they never spent enough time with each other. She was happy he was debuting but sad that she was falling behind. Two years had passed and there was no sign of a possible girl group yet. Rumors were spread around the company that the CEO was starting to look for girls for a group but it didn't seem to be true. With the request of Myungsoo, Hana was first shown to the Korean public in Infinite's Paradise music video. But shortly after that, Hana realized her contract was expiring. She had only a month left and decided to not renew it. Hana said her goodbyes, to both Woollim and Myungsoo, and went back to London. In mid-2012, Hana was contacted by a rep from JYP, asking her if she'd like to be a part of the label since she was no longer a trainee under another company. Apparently, Hana had caught JYP's attention with the audition she had sent to the label three years prior. Hana agreed to their conditions and went back to Korea in hopes of finally fulfilling her dreams. Two years had passed as she trained under JYP until news confirmed the line up for JYP's new girl group and she was part of it. She was one of the oldest trainees despite her amount of years spent at the company and was ecstatic to hear she was going to debut soon.

 

 

PERSONALITY » || Hard-Working & Obsessive || - Hana has always fet as if she needed to prove herself to other people; to her parents, to her friends, to the world. No one sees Hana for the true girl she is, it seems, but just a daughter of a rich family. Because of this, Hana chose to excel in other areas to prove she isn't just a typical rich girl. She is extremely dedicated to the point she would risk her life to do something. When we get passed the dedicated stage, then there is a problem. For Hana who is a perfectionist, she can get quite into things. Some call it passionate, others call it obsessive. Hana is very stubborn and will not give up even if there is nothing left. Her pride is quite valuable to her and she will do anything to keep it intact; even if it means to do drastic things. PERSONALITY » Kim Myungsoo, the one Hana grew up with is a total different person from the image he portrays in front of the camera. Hana sees the childish and dorky side of him that only a limited amount are available for the fans to see. Myungsoo will have temper fits when something angers or annoys him, he will pull pranks with Sungyeol just for the heck of it, and tease s to the point the others just want to tet rid of him. Sungyeol owns the title of "choding" but Myungsoo can be just as childish as Sungyeol. He is extremely sensitive and worries alot over unecessary things, including whether or not Hana is eating properly or if she is staying up too late at night.

 

CURRENT RELATIONSHIP » They are best friends, childhood friends who lived next door to each other at that. Though they had a one year difference in age, they made it work and eventually become a more deeper and meaningful relationship. For Hana, Myungsoo is the one person who truly understands every single detail about her: from her thoughts to her actions, to her expression and emotions. Someone like that could never be replaced and she doesn't yet know what exactly are her feelings for her best friend. Myungsoo considers Hana to be a very close friend and reacts differently around Hana compared to other females. Her teases her more, compliments her more, pays attention to her more, all because he thinks they are friends while his heart goes another path to an increase in heart rate, unexplained jealousy, and even an affection for skinship.
