APPEARANCE. He has never dyed his hair up until his time in Korea, where he didn't realize it was a big deal. He's gone brown and blonde, as well as black. Although his parents were angry, he got a tattoo on his upper left neck area that is the Greek letter "Psi" because he thought it looked cool. He has some very pale skin because he lived in England for a while. (He "secretly" has a stash of eyeliner because he thinks he needs to accentuate his eyes.
STYLE. He is influenced by England's hipster fashion, but does dress similar to K-Ulzzangs after coming to Korea. His body temperature is unnaturally cold the majority of the time, so he piles on the layers especially in winter. However, his pants are as tight as his parent's control on him. (Lessening, that is.) He even does the fake glasses, which his mother pokes fun at. He's got some odd clothing as well.

PERSONALITY.
   — Mingshuo prefers balance, in terms of social attention, and will enjoy a large crowd or being alone. He can restrain himself, not talking his head off or bouncing off the walls. However, he is not a closed-in loner who isn't willing to socialize. This can be seen through his seemingly laid back demeanor, where he will be the member that calms down the crazies but also includes the shyer members. He isn't afraid of embarrassing himself, which is a positive. Also, he's not about the "idealistic, I dream" life, he goes in there and get what he wants (His main goal is gaining popularity with his group, and as a singer/dancer). Throw away all the imagination, because he has the drive to make things happen.  (Which means he's not great at being creative, unless he takes some "inspiration" copies from others). Also, he seems to grasp things better when he's in action, often resulting in him being in motion about 50% (seen as swaying his head from side to side.) He catches things that, sometimes, people don't notice. He's strangely good at riddles. Besides that, he is also cool under pressure (or it seems like it to the unaware person). He lives by the motto of the duck. "Calm on the surface, but paddling like the dickens underneath." However, he can also swoop problems under the rug if he feels as if they're insignificant. This includes matters of the heart, where sometimes he feels that he shouldn't focus on (as an idol to be). He is capable of romance, but it's not his driving force. Somehow, this ties into his need to be entertained. It's not strikingly disruptive, but he still has issues with getting sick of things quicker than the average person. (Much quicker). Another problem he has is nosiness, which he admits to being a habit  (at times) as well as intentional. Examples include stealing your phone and causing you to reset it because he couldn't find the passcode and he locked it for 10 years, or just peeping on your convos discreetly (because it interests him, he swears.) Finally, he lacks foresight in terms of the very long future, and so doesn't really think through his actions. For example, once he dyed his hair bright yellow because he needed a Naruto cosplay. For once day. He realized later on what a bad idea it was. 
    — In front of the cameras, he seems like a very mature and charismatic man. He seems cultured, and deserving of high stature until you realize how much a lame dork he is with members. He carries food with him, everywhere and can be seen offering it backstage or even during fansigns. Fanservice is his favorite game to play with everyone, and he takes advantage of social media to promote his group. He's very huggy, mostly platonically, but even off camera.  He dances a lot. A lot. However, he never seems hyper and instead has this subdued look in his face or a small pout.

BACKGROUND. 
   — When Yeonsook's mother found out about Yilong, she was disappointed that he was Chinese. She planned to make their upcoming dinner date short and otherwise, sour. However, when her daughter brought him over to eat, she realized that she shouldn't stand in their path (especially as the matriarch, preventing the future lineage. He had money too.) Soon after they received their diplomas, they got legally married and didn't care for an extravagant ceremony. Instead, they went straight into finding themselves a home in Seoul, and popping out little Mingshuo after 10 months. However, after a mere four years, they had to move to the United Kingdom to follow Mingshuo's father and his job as the Foreign Service Officer in England.
   — They settled in Manchester, along with Yilong's other relatives, so that Mingshuo could start school.Here, he met his friends that he'd have for the rest of his educational career in England. They stayed here for relatively long. This meant many extracurriculars, such as dance. He began his lessons at age 6, along with Connor and Justin. Mingshuo and his friends were interested in starting a dance group at the age of 12, because they were sure they could go on Britain's Got Talent (which was barely starting up as a show).  However, Mingshuo's parents weren't sure they'd allow their child to be on TV in case they embarrass themselves. It was a year-long effort to convince them (including getting the other parents involved), but it finally worked and they able to make it. They auditioned first with "Closer" by Ne Yo, where they got approval to go to the next stage. Sadly, they were not selected for the finals and had to go home. While sad, Mingshuo wasn't disheartened and was motivated to try out the next year with everyone. However, after 7 months, they had to return to Korea because Grandmother had fallen ill and had little time. 
   — They came back to Seoul, where Mingshuo now had to deal with speaking Korean and attending a regular high school, unlike the arts school he was attending at the time. Because his one dream wasn't fulfilled yet, he decided to audition as an idol (the closest thing he could do, that his parents would let him at least.) He tried for Nega Network, considering he didn't agree to SM's work ethic nor JYP's singing style.  He was able to make it in, after a few weeks of waiting. Grandmother Choi died a year after, so he pulled out of the training program as well as take a break from school for grief.  At 17, he was still not ready to give up on being an idol so when he caught wave of Miss Records, he jumped at the chance. He was reenergized, and so entered an arts school (by begging his parents, offering to make them proud).
   — Trainee life was no walk in the park, as he had to deal with school and practice. Mingshuo was ambitious, no doubt, but the standards put idols did wear him out. He was struggling with weight, since he was considered "a bit too fat" around the face and tummy. He often doesn't sleep much, employing a nap routine on especially busy days, but at most got around 3 hours a day. His general state of wellbeing deteriorated, but he felt as if he made progress. He didn't make much friends, especially since he'd be too focused on "improving".
