She keeps her hair short because she enjoys less hassle when waking up, yet it’s enough to be put into a small, thin ponytail on top. Her eyes look black, but are a very dark brown. She often uses colored contacts like so ( @ @ @) because she hasn’t been able to afford LASIK surgery. However, she can be seen using her glasses. Her hair is currently black, but she often dyes it brown, blonde and reddish brown. She has a thin pear-ish figure, which means no chest but her hips/upper legs are larger. Yooryung likes eyeliner and BB cream, a lot. Like, Etude House better beware. Her ears are pierced, where she uses clunky round earrings. (Often black). Her skin is dry, so she usually has facial cream on hand to help out.

Often Yooryung wears strange, cartoonish snapbacks, a signature look of hers. She takes inspiration from male ulzzangs and sometimes hiphop style. Her wardrobe inspiration is G-Dragon with a bit of “Pharrell-oppa” and princesses. She likes poofy-tutu like skirts, strangely enough. She isn’t afraid to wear dresses, either. However, she often mismatches them with sneakers. Her collection of bandanas and snapbacks is massive as well. She also delves into being androgynous,since it suits her short hair. The blazer and dark jeans look is one of her favorites, since she does not mind tight clothing and often prefers it. No one takes her seriously for this reason.

The quality that stands out most for Yooryung is her lack of intense facial expressions, which parallels her reserved nature. She’s capable of excitement, it doesn’t show. However, this means that she is good at subtle expressions (such as raising her eyebrow. Which she exploits. A lot). She isn’t shy, but instead prefers to save her words. This comes from her own superstitious belief that talking too much results in no inspiration when songwriting. She takes everything seriously, often missing the point of sarcasm until thinking it through. However, the ambiguity of sarcasm often leaves her to overthink people’s responses and actions. You can tell when she’s overthinking because she puts her hand to her chin and she paces in a circle. She is absentminded in this state, and doesn’t notice people unless they’re in her face. However, this doesn’t mean she is uptight, but just needs time to think about things. Clueless in love, she was never aware of people interested in her romantically. Often, her friends play this up to comedic effect. She earned the nickname “No Jam Ryung”, especially since a girl confessed to her, and Yooryung took this as an offer for friendship. However, she is perceptive when others people are involved and show interest in each other. She prides herself in being honest to herself, and even lets out a laugh or smile once in a while.

As much as she doesn’t do well in languages, she is quite autodidactic and teaches herself music theory and reads a lot to get the feel of language, when rapping. Yooryung can learn many things by herself, such as lyrics and the rap bits in songs. She can also read music, yet sometimes has problems when translating that same song to dancing. However, criticism isn’t something she takes to heart. Yooryung instead uses it to improve herself, often showing some progress. Criticism, to her, is necessary for all future success. What she is determined in doing is improving the group. Determination can also blur itself into her being steadfast, examples being where she is fixed on one choice because her judgment is based on what she considers is “right”. Therefore, she becomes determined to maintain this point of view. When people are too easy to persuade or very hypocritical and fake, she often judges them as “naïve” or even weak, to some extent. Yooryung also judges the vapid and gossipy people she encounters, often choosing to not acquaint herself with them. This proves to be an issue when she needs to deal with others, especially if she sees flaws like this in someone. She doesn't gain many friends like this. Her method of thinking is very linear (jumps to conclusions), and lacks a middle ground normally. This can be an issue when she only sees the objective side, and not the emotional side.

— i remember the season we first met

Born the oldest sibling, she was meticulously cared for by her mother, who would often sterilize the path before even letting her walk. She kept her little baby attached to her for most of Yooryung’s infancy. Her father’s work after took him away at a 9-5 basis, but he’d had time for dinner and recording Yooryung’s antics as a child. It involved her running around in circles, with a stoic face. She developed a stutter soon into her toddler years, which her mother tried to correct with speech therapy videos and techniques she found on Google. As a way to solve this, Yooryung decided instead to stop talking unless necessary. It was efficient, in her eyes, yet her mother soon tried to resolve this as well. Even if it meant saying goodbye to her lovely “obedient daughter” who never back talked. Because Yooryung is her mother’s child indeed, she conditioned herself to control her tic with singing and practice (which turned out to be Opera singing training). Sooner or later, in middle school, her singing became a way of her speaking when she doesn’t want to talk.

In middle school, her best subjects were Math and Music. She lacked in English and History, where she often had issues finishing homework and assignments without outside help. (Google cough cough). She was popular with females, due to her short hair and her voice. Also, she had pressure from family to finish well so they could move from Gwangju to Seoul, due to the demand of pharmaceutical research. She began working hard to raise her grades up, and finish off with a bang. Regardless, her resolve to do well in school succeeded, getting her top 10% of the generation. Her electives included Choir, which she was well known for having several solos. This is when she revealed to her parents that she was interested in being an idol. “In high school, she looked into various performing arts high schools. Her mother was excited to have an artist in the house, yet her father was just surprised she decided to go the “idol” route. Either way, they selected Seoul Music High School because it was the closest to the new house they bought (walking distance isn’t that great). On her way to school, Yooryung was approached by people with similar uniforms, which turned out to be Namhyun and Namsoon. Both Namhyun and Namsoon decided to befriend her at the same time, in unison. They started bickering about who could be a “better friend.” This amused Yooryung, which sparked a friendship. They were known as a trio, much to the JungNam twins’ disappointment to avoid another “label”. Yooryung soon joined the choir, and made other (both less and more significant) friends. She was also forced into "ulzzang-dom" by Namsoon herself. 

As the weeks approached, a homecoming showcase was going to be presented in the large theater to show the “talent” of Seoul Music. Rumor spread that there were going to be entertainment company representatives, from YG to JYP. Yooryung took note of this, and made sure to secure a spot as a solo or a group. She trained, with the help of The JungNam twins to pick a good song. Namhyun, the biggest Americaphile, gave her an Whitney Houston song to show off her vocal skills. Days passed, until the fateful day came and Yooryung finally felt the bundle of nerves affect her. Even then, she began singing “When you Believe”, and gained some good reputation for being clear in her voice. An SM representative was impressed with the potential of her voice, even if her expressions were less on point. He invited her to audition, and he made sure to keep “tabs” on her. After sending a very “emoji”-full text to both Nam twins asking for advice on the next song, she planned to try out.

Now with a Korean song (courtesy of Namsoon), she walked into SM Ent. Now more confident in herself, she pursued her dream with full force. She chose a snippet of “Atlantis Princess” which was a favorite of hers, and after leaving the building, decided to go for a walk with her cat, Dubu. The hours turned into days, and when Yooryung got the phone call, the world stopped turning for 5 entire minutes. She felt it. She was on her way to becoming an idol.

family

father — Jang Taewook // 49 // Biochemical Engineer // Yooryung and her father often heads because he is incredibly laidback and a slacker, but often works well last-minute, a talent that Yooryung frequently judges others for. He was also the reason they named her “Yooryung”, because she was extremely pale when she was born, like a ghost. He was initially skeptical, but he supported it (because his wife said so).

mother — Choi Hyein // 47 // Stay-at-Home // Yooryung is a momma’s girl, mostly because they are so similar. Her mother is authoritarian on her brother and father, and Yooryung respects this. However, her mother has a small soft spot for her father, a large reason why they’ve stayed together for so long. Hyein studied to be a pianist, but soon decided that the home was her duty, and is very supportive of Yooryung's choice to be a musician/idol. She would've preferred an operatic route, but she doesn't mind.

brother — Jang Yooseok // 13 // Middle Schooler // Yooseok causes the most trouble in the Jang household, pasting pictures of memes in every possible crevice. Yooseok often tries to instigate fights between him and his sister, but it fails when he realizes that it’s useless to create a large response from her. He is a great Starcraft player, but Yooryung loves him anyway (even if she when she plays with him).

BEST FRIENDS — Jung Namhyun // 23 // Aspiring MC // They met when Yooryung was heading to SMHS, along with his twin sister. He is known for being a wannabe swagman, but is pretty good at gardening. When they met, Namhyun was interested in making friends other than his own sister, and possibly a girlfriend. He had some interest in Yooryung, until he realized it was hopeless. He is a sad attempt at being a thug Korean, but he's too dumb to be scary. (Dumb as in, scared of everything.)

best friends — Jung Namsoon // 23 // Ulzzang-Blogger // Met her on the way to SMHS. She also wants to be popular, not only known as the “girl twin”.  Yooryung admires the way she isn’t afraid to speak her mind, but feels intimidated by her sudden outbursts of passion whenever a makeup haul from Japan/USA occurs. Yooryung became her mannequin for trying out certain makeup/lip colors. She supports Yooryung by bragging about her skill to others, and she's a total valley girl equivalent. She's starting to look like the Gangnam girls, but she's trying to stay unique.

TRAINEE LIFE
She was hailed as a second coming of BoA, because others viewed her audition tape and saw her perform with a bit more confidence than others. Her vocal coach held her in high regard, but had isssues with her lack of expression. She sounded emotional, but her face never did much other than a small smile/smirk or raising an eyebrow. She didn't get many friends her age because they all assumed that she was much younger, due to her height. She wasn't super out there, but could manage with a small amount of friends. She's met with Taeyeon before, which she admits to being very strange. She's met Chanyeol, as a mentor for her persona, she also finds him strange. She also trains extensively, sleeping for only 3 hours, because she's practicing vocal runs and high notes. When all the scandals within the SM industry started happening, she wondered about how long she'd take to debut.

personality — Oh Sehun is an enigma. People initially think that he is aloof, moody, and generally hard to impress. However, that couldn't be more wrong. Instead he is a bit shy around others, and doesn't have really good people skills. He is introverted, and therefore likes to be alone at times. He is also bratty and whiny to his friends and his fellow members, and can be driven to tears if he feels emotional enough. He doesn't preoccupy himself with false appearances, and that makes him seem uninterested when he's not smiling or being cheery the entire time. A big component of Sehun being...Sehun is how strange he is. He is the member with the most macros and quotes because he's memorably weird. Like 4D can't even begin to describe this guy. He likes to be funny and imitate s to gain a laugh, as the famous creator of ye olde "yehet." As a friend, he'll take on a challenge if it interests him, such as making friends who are very stoic. He's very affectionate once you get to know him to the level that the EXO members have. When he likes someone, he will tease them to no ends in order to seem that he's not as shy as he thinks. For his ideal type, he prefers older women that are shorter than him and smell nice, and she will look pure. 

HISTORY — They met when Yooryung headed towards Chanyeol to ask about expression ideas. Sehun happened to be conversing with Jongdae, and was confused by the toddler who decided to interrupt the conversation. Chanyeol, clearly happy about him being a sunbae to her, started talking about very tips that worked for him. She turned to Sehun blankly and asked, "Have they worked out for him?" Chanyeol burst out laughing, almost losing his balance. Sehun crossed him arms and wondered why the 5 year old started talking to him. Chanyeol then replied, "You should start talking to each other!" with a grin. Sehun frowned before considering it. Yooryung herself snorted, which prompted a "What?!" from Sehun. He then made it a challenge to befriend her and to get her opened up to her. 
Soon after that encounter, Sehun popped into her late singing practice to try and befriend her. He had planned it out to have some "extra food" , but didn't realize that Chanyeol was also inside with her  and was excited for Sehun to be there. In that process, he stole the food meant for Yooryung and hugged him. Yooryung laughed (it was quiet as heck but still). She decided to give him a chance. 

relationship — Because Yooryung is so clueless, she isn't aware of Sehun's growing feelings to her. Instead, she is rather rough with him, often smacking him on the head and jumping him when he's planning to scare her. Because she's so short, to calm her down, he lifts her up like a child and sings the "Airplane Song", a nursery rhyme to the tune of Mary had a Little Lamb. This annoys her a lot. Towards Sehun, to mess him up, she brings water balloons to throw at him. The first time she really tried to do this, however, she ran into a glass door and hit herself. Because she is so endearing, to him at least, he often messes up her hair and runs.  She's kicked his and then runs. They have a very long prank war going on. She makes Sehun walk her cat, though. That is a plus. One time, Sehun gave her a backhug. Yooryung punched him in the face, on accident. Yooryung tackled him once with a running start. They both ended in the infirmary, and had injuries on their legs and arms. All in all, their relationship is very physical but very friendly. If he uses sarcasm, she's bound to be a bit angry.

TRIVIA — 

ONE — She calls him "Oh Yehet", he calls her "Jang No Jam".
TWO — They make fun of each other's faces, even if they're both blank.

SIX — On a radio show, Sehun asked "Who's your favorite dongsaeng?" (Yooryung will usually answer "D.O.") She answered "Sehun" once in front of a group, and he turned red and he couldn't show his face for 5 minutes.
SEVEN — Namsoon dared her to serenade Sehun once, so she brought a ukelele (which she can't play), strummed for a bit and sneezed before leaving.

PERSONALITY — She considers herself bright and cheerful, the person who brings her group's mood up. She is also very carefree, and very cute. Despite her having a "manly image", she is popular for being so laidback and chill with anyone she encounters. Talented, she's confident in her skills and does not let many things affect her. Sadly, she is from an obscure group, so many do not know about her friendly and kind disposition. On the negative side, she is very secretive and sometimes dishonest. She is willing to tell half-truths in order to make herself look good. Also, she can be very very clingy and likes to live in the past, often wanting to return to the way things were before. She also is self-pitying, and has problems with being jealous.

HISTORY — They met after Sehun introduced her to Daeun in a park. Daeun had a very sweet demeanor, and confused Yooryung for being very younger than the two (and so Sehun was mentoring her). However, when she revealed her age, she slumped a bit in disappointment and started grabbing Sehun's shirt sleeve. Yooryung saw this and assumed that he brought her to introduce her as his girlfriend, but when he said friend (she was secretly happy) , Daeun's smile faltered and she added "Childhood. Friend. We've known each other for a while." She noticed how much closer she was getting to Sehun as the time passed, and her initially positive reaction toward Daeun started decreasing. 

RELATIONSHIP — Because Yooryung is quiet and very stoic, she tries to be polite to Daeun. However, Daeun doesn't reciprocate as much and tries to avoid her. She can't look Yooryung in the face, which confuses her. They're otherwise cordial, but very detached. Daeun has made some off-hand comments about Yooryung, which Sehun corrects, but there is no fight waiting to happen.
