I feel like in my 6 years of reading fanfiction, nothing has changed.

All I keep seeing is recycled ideas written in a different way. I've come to notice a lot of Archtypes presented on here, wattpad, and ff.net. Though it may be enjoyable sometimes, it gets a bit annoying.

Here are a few archetypes that I've noticed:

• jThe Fall: The main character falls from grace in consequence of his or her own action.
• The Journey: The main character takes a journey that may be physical or emotional to understand his or her personality and the nature of the world. 
• The Initiation: The main character undergoes experiences that lead him towards maturity. 
• The Innocent Youth: He or she is inexperienced with many weaknesses and seeks safety with others but others like him/her because of the trust he or she shows in other people.
• The lover: One who wants nothing but love. While their intentions may be good, their pattern of behaviour is down right irritating. Most but not all, come off as being clingy, overbearing, and vulnerable.
