Zhou An was born on the 19th of April 1992 in Wuhan, China. Her family may not be the wealthiest but they aren't poor either. Her family consists of her mother, older brother and father and the Zhou family has a close relationship. Since she was young, she wanted to be a celebrity. Her mother taught her to sing and dance since she was in kindergarten and joined contests. In the year 2005 at the age of 13, she was scouted to have a role on the drama It Started With A Kiss as Li Chun Mei, the lead's best friend. Even though she was still young, she had a mature image. She made her own name in the Chinese showbiz industry. She became a young ad model, actress and singer.

As for her older brother, Zhou Mi, he also became known in China as an award-winning host and singer since 2002. The siblings may be far from each other but they still feel close to one another because they visit each other when they have time. No one knew that the two are siblings, just their family and close friends.
The following year ( 2006 ), she was asked to feature on Fahrenheit's song I Only Have Feelings For You. She also acted in music videos and other dramas but suddenly stopped in October 2009. She got a call from a representative of SM Entertainment asking if she would like to be with her brother in Korea. She was ecstatic with the idea and agreed though she still auditioned like the others. Since then, she became a trainee in SM.

Training in a foreign country to be an idol is quite hard. She only know her brother but they barely see each other for he is too busy with his group. She learned Korean with pure determination and now it has paid off. Getting back to the dorms at 2am practicing her rap, vocals, dance and learning Korean is what all she did. Few months later, she became friends with the artists of SME and her fellow trainees. In 2012, she was casted to be the lead for Absolute Boyfriend with Fahrenheit's Jiro Wang and Kun Da as her leading men. SM gave her permission to do it and it was a hit back then.

how you met him — In 2008, Joan went to Super Junior M's promotion in China. She sneaked in the hotel room where the boys are staying. She nearly got arrested because of it when the group's manager found her lounging on the room eating the food on the fridge. Luckily, Zhoumi found her right after the manager did and told him that she is his sister so they shouldn't worry about her. The members got curious why is their manager got angry and met Joan for the first time. Joan treat the boys for dinner as a congratulations for their debut in China that same day and instantly became close to Donghae and Henry.

interactions — After their meeting, the two never met again until Donghae heard that Joan became a trainee in SM in the late 2009. He pestered Zhoumi to let them meet again but Zhoumi was being all protective and told Donghae to back off since Joan was still young back then. She was only 17, to be precise. Donghae promised Zhoumi that he will only befriend her until she's old enough to date so he let him. Donghae loves teasing her like her older brother but they're usually sweet to each other like lovers. They also fight like an old married couple. Joan and Donghae likes watching movies and eating on the company's cafeteria together. Joan even cooks for him when she's not really busy.
