The good and bad advantages of being an author. (With tips)

Authors know that stories come from spontaneous ideas. Thus, started by a daydream, or maybe a concept randomly pops into your head and you're like 'Oh! This would be good as a story!'.

Of course, writing the first fanfic/story's first chapter would be exciting.. But what would you do if you simply 'lose the feeling'?

The answer? Inspiration.

What would you do if you couldn't find an inspiration?

Well dude, if you're writing a fanfic, then the artist/idol must be enough for you.

Think of the reason why you even wanted to start a fanfic..

For readers to discover your ideas? Partly, yes.

To make your idol proud even if you know that there's only a 0.0001% chance for he/she to read your fiction out of a thousand more? Partly, yes.

But I also ask myself, what is the real reason?

The answer? Well, I don't really know. I just wanted to start a fanfic about my idol(s)..

But moving that aside, let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages if being an (fanfic) author.

[Bold letters for disadvantages, and Italic letters for advantages]

When it gets tiring and you're simply lazy, you lose the feeling. No wait--that's simply called 'Writers Block'.

Solution? Watch your idol's videos, look at their/his/her pictures, and simply go on Fan Mode for inspiration. Let's see if it helps bring you fresh ideas for the next chapter.

When your readers get excited they tell you to update via comments or PM. This be an advantage for others, but other people find this awfully irritating.

The people who find this irritating can also find this pressuring.. And you suddenly have the urge to put the story on-hold to get the pressure off your shoulders.. Or some authors just want to punish the readers by updating in a longer span of time.

(For the readers and not the authors: Instead of pressuring the author to update, like commenting 'UPDATE!', tell the author to update in a more kind and polite way.. For example, leaving a comment saying 'You're story is awesome, I'm really hooked. I'm excited to see the next chapter. Please update when you can.. :)' Or something like that. That's called appreciating the chapter. Believe me, it's more effective, it even works on me!)

The people who find the 'UPDATE PLEASE!~' comments as an advantage, well then, congratulations, you have motivation to type and update more.. :) It also shows that you're easily contented as long as there are comments.. (Lol, based on experience.. *le wink*)

TYPOS AND GRAMMATICAL ERRORS.

60% find this irritating and embarassing and 40% sees this as an opportunity to learn.

To be honest, I'm in between.. Sometimes it helps, and sometimes it's irritating. It's irritating when you make the mistake accidentally and you actually know the correct spelling and grammar.. It helps though, because with that, you would notice the typo with the readers'  help.. But dear readers, please correct the authors in a nice way so they won't lose any motivation.

Sometimes, you could learn from the corrections if you really don't know the right grammar and spelling..

LANGUAGE SKILLS.

Now this is really an advantage. I learn korean words by reading, and I apply those words to my stories sometimes. (Yes, I'm an author, but in a different website.) Reading and writing english fanfics also improves your english and grammar skills.

And the last thing I could think of is for the authors with famous stories.

PLAGIARISM.

Oh, how I freaking hate plagiarism. I haven't really experienced it, but if you're a loyal reader of a person who did experience it, you'll automatically hate it.

Even if it's in E-book, you shouldn't copy. It's still freaking illegal, for duck's sake!

When you experience it, you suddenly have the urge to delete the plagiarized story (which you've worked hard on) so there won't be anything to copy anymore.

The people who copies stories, take my advice, for you not to copy stories, you definitely should daydream.

For example: (Based on personal experience) If you watched SNSD's Gee MV, write a fanfic about girls who are cursed to turn into mannequins and can only turn back into human at 10PM and the curse would be removed if a guy would kiss them or fall in love.. (P.S. I made that up spontaneously.. xD My plot, no stealing! P.P.S. Wait--that's a pretty good idea, maybe I'll write about that after I post this xD) I made that up spontaneously 'cause that popped up randomly in my mind. That people, is the power of daydreaming. ^_^

But if you daydream too much, you would find yourself murmuring and making facial expressions (Not to mention, randomly laughing if you daydream about something funny) That would make you look like a lunatic.. Trust me, that's my current situation right now, and I'm seriously questioning my sanity.

So, that's all I could think about right now, Oh, wait, you might also get bashers and haters if they don't like you, but the solution is to show them that you're not a wimp that gives up easily.. Or just simply, ignore them.. But it's also fun to irritate and taunt them more.. *evil laugh*

Anyway, if I discover any more advantages/disadvatages, I'll write another blog.. I hope this didn't waste your time~
