Ashton is easily the prettiest member of the group - the only real flaw in his appearance is that he's short. His body is toned from swimming, but he's only 177 cm; his face has a charm that's boyish but handsome.

You can say a lot of things about Ash; some of them are true, some of them aren't. The one thing everyone agrees on is that he talks a lot. Does this boy ever shut up? No, no he does not. He's always got something to say - be it good ("Jason-hyung, you've got something good with this one!") or unnecessary ("I feel like Charlie would be a better manager than Lucas."). And he will always say it. This makes him awesome on variety shows and a little in real life - the other members spend half of their time wishing he didn't exist, and the other half being happy that somebody is so good for advertising. It helps that he's charismatic - he's not the best dancer at all, and is honestly only really great at singing, but damn...when his solos come up, you want to listen. When he's in the streets advertising, he gets a lot of people - not since he's good looking, but since he's just so charismatic. Ashton wants something, and he can convince most people (including Jiseul) to get it for him. Extra food, information about his sister...anything. He chooses his words in order to get what he wants and knows exactly how to get it. It's all about Ash.

Ash is the type of person who doesn't think before doing stupid things - he dives in headfirst, fearless, and leaves no survivors...or something like that. If he wants to do something, he'll do it; he doesn't know the definition of the word "consequences". Once Ash sets his mind on something, he'll put all his effort into it. Becoming an idol, finding his sister, it's all the same - they're all just goals for him to reach, and he'll definitely use any means to get there. Whoever he hurts on the way - doesn't matter. Knocks someone else down, knocks himself down, whatever - doesn't matter. He's gotta go forward in his goals without stopping, or he doesn't believe he can get them at all. And, in the end, it's all about self-benefit; Ashton knows he's selfish, but if he had time to be selfless, he wouldn't be able to get what he wants. And he doesn't want that.

background »
Nam Jae Geun never knew his mother - she died quite shortly after giving birth to him. His father, knowing he couldn't afford to raise one child - let alone two - put the two babies up for adoption. One was taken in by a rich Gangnam family. The other was adopted by two British teachers living in California. 

Ashton Chadwick was raised on music - his adopted father Alexander is a vocal coach, and his mother Cella is a piano teacher. He's taken piano lessons since he was 6, and voice lessons since he was 8. (He discovered rap in middle school and found he was best at that. He also started swimming in middle school.) He was also a child actor, appearing in bit parts in various TV series. He neve really questioned being adopted - it was a fact in his life, but it never really got brought to the forefront until he was 13. His parents, deciding it'd be good for Ashton to see his homeland, took him to Korea.

He fell in love with the place - the culture of it, the music, the food! As soon as the plane touched down, he knew he'd never want to leave the place. On his own, he started learning Korean via Rosetta stone and Duolingo. In order to get a place to stay, he became more rigorous in his vocal lessons and piano lessons. He took another trip there in 2009, and auditioned for Cube Entertainment. The audition papers asked for a Korean name, so he asked his parents for his - Nam Jae Geun. He began asking more questions to his parents - which part of the country he's from, anything they knew about his family back home.

They told him about his sister then. A twin. Adopted by someone in Korea shortly before the Chadwicks took Ashton in. A sister - one that Ashton never could've known about. He became determined to find his sister.

After three years under Cube, being passed up for BtoB was the last straw. He was just about to sell his keyboard when he was approached by a vaguely disheveled looking man in the shop. He introduced himself - Jason - and gave Ashton a dingy little business card. The rest, as they say, is history.

personality » He's an awkward kid, honestly - he's a fluent English speaker, but barely; his Korean is shoddy at best; his sense of humor is a bit too dark and too quirky to make sense tomost Korean audiences. He isn't the best singer, dancer, or rapper, but he tries hard and is genuine about his efforts. As BtoB gains more popularity, it seems he's overshadowed by more popular members, but he doesn't plan on trying any less hard, let alone giving up.

These two met shortly after a monthly examination. "He goes super hard on your dancing, doesn't he?" asked Ashton, curious, vaguely knowing that the guy next to him was also an English speaker.

"But doesn't he go worse on your Korean?" 

One conversation, that's all it took. Currently, these two are like brothers; they fight a lot, but Ashton trusts Peniel more than anyone else. There's thingw only Peniel knows about Ashton - how much of a nerd he is, how determined he is to find a girl he's never met - and things only Ashton knows about Peniel - how he's camera-shy and how he doesn't think he deserves to be in BtoB. They could tell each other anything, and have made promises to do so. They also have things they don't tell each other. Peniel's about a year older than Ashton, and believes that the kid needs to be protected; Ash, knowing how toxic the idol industry is, sincerely wishes that Peniel could leave it and be less stressed and more happy. They aren't in love, but they're teetering on the edge of it.
