White people pretending like they know more about my culture than I do

It’s horrifying that I’m not the only one facing this, that white people not only romanticize the out of our religion and culture, appropriate it, but now have taken to trying to teach us how it works instead.

idk how to react - it’s kinda too ridiculous to be real.

White people are so pressed because they have no culture to defend.

Like… Your culture is literally comprised of stealing other people’s cultures.

Lmao whatchu talking bout, white folks ain’t got no culture!

First off, WHEN HAVE YOU HEARD THAT INDIANS WERE PAKISTANI.

Secondly, why are you telling US how to believe in OUR OWN religion?

I remember this one white dude in my Freshman year, trying to teach me how to be a Buddhist when he's Christian just because we finished the Hindu chapter in our history books.

And I was like, "Umm....I'm Buddhist. I believe that I know a lot more about Buddhism than you dude. Now be quiet."

I mean to put it in a non-religious perspective, that's like if I were to give weight loss advice to a guy more fit than me, with my double chin and flab showing.

That's like if a homeless person tried to give a rich dude financial advice.

That's like if old, white, conservative male politicians tell women that they know more about them than they do themselves. *coughsCongresscoughs*

In short, if you don't know sh*t, DON'T SAY SH*T.

I see your point lol. I don't really have this problem because I'm a white girl in an area of the US where diversity isn't a thing. I hate people like this though. But.. I'm curious... Is there really something wrong with wearing an Indian thing if you aren't Indian? I don't think so. I don't think that's what you were trying to say, it's just a point that was brought up.
