A question to non-European AFFers.

I'm just curious and I really need to ask you this. What does Europe have that interests you so much or that makes it so 'mystical' to you? Because I see lots of foreigners who have this image that we Europeans are very classy, eat fine food and dress like fashionistas when we don't.

I live in America and I do hear it a lot and jokes about it... Well I guess many Americans just like to make fun of how EVERYONE was in the 1800s. And it's probably a stereotype as well like how every asain is smart when I met some that aren't very bright lol

Come to the UK and see the tourists here, they think the UK is all posh and lovely but that's not true either XD

History. I think it's because we read about so much European history in school that it becomes engrained in us. Also because it's very much part of our own history. So yes - I want to see where it all started.

I guess it's a matter of movies + publicity. Europe is always portrayed as this classy, clean, beautiful and picturesque place. Which is why many people are interested in visiting it, including myself. Besides, it's a touristic location, like the caribbean and so on. And from the pictures I've seen, there really are mystical buildings and places over there, constructions that date from thousands of years ago, it's a place full of history (of course depending on what country/city you're visiting). Sometimes we tend to underestimate the places we live in because we see them everyday, it happens to me here where I live. Punta Del Este is considered to have one of the best beaches in South America, however for a long time I couldn't see all that beauty and like you, I wondered why so many tourists would come on summer. I guess it's a matter of perception.

I'd say the accent. ^_^ I for one love the European accents so it's seriously one of the major things (for me) I find classy and ultimately dreamy. Plus the fact that Europe's money is the higher than USD. ^_^ so yeah. haha.
