Cover Images and Graphic Shops

With the Cover Image having a width of 70px and height of 100px,

perhaps designers should change the standard poster size to 350x500, 420x600, 490x700, 560x800, 630x900 or 700x1000. It's just a suggestion to keep the 7:10 ratio. Otherwise, some parts of the poster image will be cropped.

Below are samples of book cover thumbnails from Amazon. Notice how the titles stand out.

It's something to think about...

If you are planning to open up a shop or thinking of doing a shop revamp, perhaps other than tumblr edits or the classic fic posters, try making book covers. Or have the cover image option in request forms - ask if they would be using the poster as cover image.

Btw I think 500x700 pix is about the right size. It will display perfectly on forums and sites like tumblr as well :)

To be honest, I have seen one of the worst edits on this website I have seen in my entire life. However, that's only like 20% of the covers, luckily. More and more people start to learn how photoshop works and how you should properly edit. Sadly there are some shops out there that 1. take a lot of time to even reply or produce what you've asked for and 2. don't always have the same quality of editing in all of their posters. And often you see the most amazing shop layout design, but when you look at the works themselves... Just makes me cringe. I get that some people do enjoy making other people posters for their fan fictions, which is great. But some people really want to make too much at once and in the progress they're losing quality in the end result. I rather progress one by one and avoid having a chaotic shop. Hopefully the shop owners read this too and will reflect on themselves. If you're too busy, just be honest and tell people your shop is closed or on hiatus. THANK YOU.
