Not Sure I Like This New 'Friendly' Badge

Wow. I've actually never written a blog post in all the time I've been on here. I wonder why we don't have proper forums...

Anyway, I like the idea of getting a badge for involvement in the community. Like number of blog posts/ story chapters written/ comments, etc. By making a badge for just having a lot of friends, they're encouraging people to just add people they don't know and will never ever talk to. I already have a problem with randoms sending me requests that I have no use for. I love having conversations on here and if you want to talk to me, I'm happy to hear. I find it annoying when people want to add you to a list of 'friends' when they know they'll never have anything to do with you. It's pointless.

This feature doesn't seem very well thought out. I mean, what could possibly be the benefits of having 1000 friends (as I've seen some people have)? I think that perhaps there should be a badge for chapters (because no one in their right mind would write junk chapters just for the badge). Anyone have any thoughts?

Oh really? I stand corrected. I searched all over the place and the only explanation of the badge I could find was that it was purely friend based. It's a great idea to incorporate the interactions between users. Does that mean wall posts/ messaging?
I've been gone for so long, I had a bit of a shock when everything was suddenly blue :P

I thought the friendly badge depended on how much you communicate with other people on the site as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the badge not only given to a user who have a certain amount of friends but also depend on the interaction too like how often/much the user sending message wall. so actually it encourages users to interact and be friendly with each other.
someone cmiiw..

and for the badge for chapter, i know there are some author that post unimportant chapters in their story like author note (which actually really not relate to the story or its progression), random rant, pic spam, etc.
