Not really. I had a professor who is getting her Ph.D in English Lit. or something like that. She teaches (obviously) and does nothing but that. Another English professor of mine was an editor, was a journalist, then came to teach English . This was an argumentative class.

Maybe English is different from Eng. Lit. because in Lit. this is about the way stories and poems are and how to analyze them. Right? I've taken eng. lit. back in high school and that's all we did; read and wrote essays about them, non-stop.

Well, I'm no expert. Maybe you can ask your instructors on what to do. They are the ones who's more knowledgable.
