Magic rules followed by the press and media in Western countries when covering the Middle East

 Thanks to these rules, the Arab-Israeli conflict has become clear and resolved before the Western public opinion.

“The first rule is that in any aggression between the Arabs and Israel, the Arabs are always the aggressors, while Israel is always in a state of self-defense.

The second rule is that the Palestinians and Lebanese, and all the other Arab nationalities, have no right to kill Israeli civilians, the Western press calls this terrorism.

The third rule is that Israel has the right to kill any Arab civilians, the Western press calls this the legitimate right to self-defense.

The fourth rule is that when Israel goes too far in killing large numbers of Palestinian civilians, Western powers suffice to call on it to show self-restraint, the Western press calls this a positive stance on the part of the international community.

The fifth rule is that the Palestinians and the Lebanese have no right to detain Israeli soldiers, even if they are detaining only two or three, or even one, as in the case of Shalit.

The sixth rule is that Israel has the right to detain any number of Palestinians it wishes, even if the prisoners in its prisons are more than 12,000 including women, the elderly and at least 300 children, and it is not required to prove any charges against them.

The seventh rule is that whenever the Western press mentions Hezbollah, it must associate it with ‘Iran-backed’.

The eighth rule is that whenever Israel is mentioned, the Western press refrains from saying that it is backed by the US and other Western powers, so that the conflict in the Middle East would seem inequitable.

The ninth rule is never to mention that the land in question is in fact occupied, as the press should never mention United Nations resolutions, violation of international laws and breaching the Geneva conventions, as this could impact the public sentiment and disturb it.

The tenth rule is that Israelis speak English, French, German, and Italian much better than the Arabs of all nationalities do, thus the Western media finds itself compelled to give Israelis and pro-Israelis much bigger space than the Arabs in its journalistic programs and reports.

 This justifies the aforementioned rules, from one to ten and is known in the West as journalistic objectivity.”
