Ufff. Adults.

My ranting about my parents /sigh AND I'M TRYING TO MAKE THIS COLORFUL HEHEHEHE

So I was just eating, enjoying all the time in the world when my mom suddenly talked with my dad about a student who just aced the university (Academy of Journalism and Communication in my country to be exact) entrance test.

That student said, "My parents forbid me, they want me to become a teacher. But I have so much passion in this area, I have always wanted to become a MC, to be hosting for shows."

My mom commented, "Yeah, I wouldn't let them get involved in this area (Journalism) too."

I scoffed "But it's fun, and also, it's a life-time dream for her!"

"Don't you know that our nephew, he works at a TV station, and he said everyone there kept setting traps out at each other, and they step onto each other just to fight for a spot?" Mom added.

"But, still, if she likes it, then hardships are nothing compared to the passion!" I reasoned.

"Parents are the ones with experience, so we know what's best for our children." Dad ended the conversation.

So, by mean "THE BEST FOR OUR CHILDREN", they meant, "Forbid them from their dream because it's dangerous"?

Oh c'mon people! We are in like, 21st century, the century of exploration, not sitting-in-a-corner-and-do-paper-work-cause-your-parents-said-it-would-make-money era! I HATE it a lot when they say "We know what's best for you guys."

Ugh, I truly think that, if one has the passin, and the strong will to follow it, then hardships are something that that person has to go through, and thus, learn from it! Ugh. Adults, they have lived their lives and they concluded,

"Nothing is more important than money."

Sure, in this society, yeah, money is important, but we can't just because of money, and what our parents so-called the "experience" and throw away our dream, our passion away like that!

Ughhhhh.

I still think that a leading a normal life with paper work, and going to the office everyday, having stable income, like our parents adviced, is sure, a popular choice for those who want a stable life. But, I still prefer a job in which we can enjoy ourselves and also, the job itself, is a passion to us!

Sure hardships might come but god, hardships make us who we are!

I do believe that, with passion, the time you spend, the hard work you do, doesn't matter one bit.

Anw, back to my parents, they, yeah, unfortunately, our family is like this:

- Mommy and Daddy, who have lived in poor condition when they were younger, like the stability. And they are more introvert. Like water.

- My bro and I, who are younger (DUH.), like taking risks, and we love the things our parents hate. And of course, we hate what our parents like. We are like fire.

For eg: My bro and I both love music, and we hate economics, while our parents stated that, 'economics will never die, and it's interesting.'

Anyone here, has the same prob when you choose your future career?

I do sadly I have the same problem... I'd like to study to university but my parents can't afford the high cost and they think that when I'll end high school it will be better if I'll go to work into an office... and the worst thing is that I study economics but I truly hate it... so my dream of studying languages is so far away from the reality that I live *sigh*

I really have problems in choosing my future career. Like i've told you dear, my parents forbid me to became a...writer. Coz,to them... it's less beneficial than being a doctor. Yeah, a doctor! Actually im interested to be a doctor (medical studies) and i think i can do really well in science subjects like chemystry, biology and physics. And i really love those subjects, like i really really do love em! Being a doctor in the future has been my biggest ambition from im in kindergarten, but when im more matured...i tend to develop deep passions and fondness towards writing and learning languages.. So now im stucked between these two fields;medical and writing. There're two totally different fields. So what can i do now?

I don't have this problem. My parents are fine what my brother and I want to be. My brother's dream of being a doctor has accomplish as I'm still sitting in my room, hoping my dream to be a MC / hosting a show will come true.
"You kids can do whatever you want. Just make sure you love your job and won't regret it." Love that statement from my mom. <3

hello! Sooo right now i'm in college studying things that i choose by myself. My parents had not persisting something to me bcs they saw by themselves how uninterest and well... Kind of i was with other subjects, same goes with my sister. Buttttt i heard many stories like you from my friends. Some of them finally cope and did well with their parents direction, some did really bad to the point they don't study and only cheat to get grade until they decide to out in 2nd year. Well some of my advices are don't close your ears to ur parents, try to find out what ur parents' advice, maybe itsnot that bad. Or maybe you can make a deal, like if you agree to do what your parents want then your parents have to give you permission for doing blablabla. But if you really don't want to do that and already sure with your passion, tell stories to yous parents about how could it be if a person being persisted to do something that they dont like. Sorry for blabbering. I hope i can being a lil help for you! Fighting :)

I don't have this kind of problem. Mom would support everything I do.
But I have another problem, I don't know what my dream is, I don't really have one, so I just sit where my mom puts me. LOL.
