body description (if any) : park mari is famous for her pale complexion and rather flawless skin. she rarely has pimples and basically looks like a vampire. large eyes set on an alabaster face and decorated by a surgically made high nose, mari looks like your typical girl next door. her long hazel locks reach her waist and her bangs cover her eyebrows. with a dreamy smile etched on her face 24/7, mari is one of the sweetest girls in the industry. she has long legs and long arms, but sadly, she has a rather flat chest. her face is not natural though-- she has had plastic surgery on her nose, but nothing else...yet.

ladies and gentlemen, here I present to you park mari, the main vocalist of sunset, the former lead vocalist of melodia and probably one of the quietest person you'll ever meet. known well throughout fans and the industry to be one of the more introverted idols (who still has her own moments). mari rarely speaks and is more of an awkward person, especially around strangers. mari is incredibly introverted and likes spending time reading or just plain staring off into the distance. when people first meet her they get the impression of reserved and plain. she's not one to stand out, but she does have a nice amount of fans and she's incredibly grateful for it. the dark curls, endearing actions and tiny smile that rarely shwos are basically what sums up mari. she might be the main vocalist of the group but she prefers simplicity over the spotlight and she tends to just go with the flow. mari is more of a laidback person doesn't really care about her surroundings. she's blissfully ignorant of them, and even if she should care, she doesn't. mari might be quiet but she's not anti-social, she converses but she isn't one who goes full out and scream and laugs while doing bizarre actions, she prefers sitting on comfy beanbags and speaking about random light weighted topics in her hushed voice.

mari puts everyone in front of her and often takes the initiative to sacrifice herself for others. shetakes everything in her stride peacefully and doesn't put up a fight. even so, mari is nowhere near a pushover. she steps up when she thinks it's wrong, but if it's alright for her, she just smiles and takes it in. mari is principled and has a strong moral compass. she is a rather genuine soul and is everyone's candle in the darkest times, and everyone's pillar when they're about to crumble. she does everything slowly and easily irritates the more impatient and fiery members of the group when she cleanly murmers "don't rush, we have time," when they clearly don'~~t and the group is going on in two minutes and a member's dress just fell apart~~. another great word to describe her would be...slow. she's not academically slow or anything (in fact, she's rather intelligent) but her reactions and actions are incredibly slow. it's a wonder why she can dance along when the group performs fast tracks. she also takes a longer time to process things in her mind and slowly spits her answer out. when she's thinking her mind also easily wanders elsewhere. "excuse me, aegi, earth to park mari!" she basically has the attention span of a goldfish and is often jolted back to reality with people stuffing their faces right in front of her and screaming her name out loud.

mari might be often just sitting there in a corner, but she isn't there daydreaming. she's actually paying deep attention to her surroundings and just plain observing. she sees the nervous flicker in her members' eyes or the hand wrenching of antoher artist- and she'd just go up and casually put an arm around them while whispering ''it's okay." thus she's often dubbed as the team's mother. whether it's in front of fans or at the company building, mari is often said to be polite and obdedient, not to mention sadly honest and practical. she's extremely soft spoken and sometimes people go up to her and does sign language, thinking she can't speak and therefore stands there waving their arms around as mari stares at them with a very confused expression. mari rarely dwells on irrelevant or tiny things in life. she moves on easily and as a rather mature twenty four year old, always thinks ahead. she also has this sad trait of not being able to voice her thoughts and opinions as she wants to. wanting to care for what the other feels, she often ends up messing what she really wants to say. mari is a depedent soul and needs help from people a lot. she'd often call people and softly ask for help, even if she could have done so herself. she's always afraid that she'd be wrong and thus relies on others for help. she is one insecure girl who doubts herself a lot. she's not very sure of herself and doesn't think she's as talented as she is. even so, she rarely tells others of her worries .

mari isn't just all quiet though. she leans towards the lazy side and hardly ever really works hard. she'd rather lie on the bed all day and she needs all the members screaming and clanging pots in her room for her to wake up. mari is also a liar. she never speaks the truth and is always changing the details of things. "sunbi ah I heard fans talking about you!" can easily change into "sunbi ah i heard fans talking angrily about you!" in short, she never says the details as they are. she's a good liar and looks utterly normal when spinning ouy a lie. mari has her own moments which are especially memorable to fans. she has her own sense of humour and if she's feeling especially happy that day she'd just sit there with a huge grin on her face ~~(arden cho's first gif tbvh)~~ and wave at the members passing by, and sometimes even initiate conversations with them. other times when she's really just having fun she enjoys playing around with the members, whether it's poking them with her hands or pretending to be a power ranger behind them, park mari has her own perks shown in documentaries and variety shows, and that is what sets her apart.

background :
park mari was born on february nineteenth in ninteen twenty two in andong, south korea as an only child to two korean parents. mari was a total contrast from her parents- her parents were both the easygoing and fun type, mari was a quiet girl. in fact, she rarely cried as a baby. she did cry at first when she first came to the world, but other than that, she seldom did so. when her parents came to visit her at the nursery, instead of a crying baby like the others, she was peacefully sleeping. even though they had stark contrasts, the family got along well and mari got full attention from her parents.

then her brothers came along. they were twins, and they took away mari's spotlight. mari was fine with all that, but as she saw that everybody cooed at her brothers and not even talking with her, she just shut herself in more, becoming the black sheep of the family as everyone laughed and screamed at the table and she merely chewed quietly. in short, mari's not close with her family. (though the younger twin jonghyun is also more on quiet side; mari's only close family member would be jonghyun.) it had always been evident that mari could sing. and by that, she could sing really well. she sang in the shower, at school in the hallways, and was always humming to herself. her singing was loud enough to be heard outside the toilet, and there have been multiple times when she opened the door and saw her family standing outside the toilet smiling. people always pushed her for talent shows and school performances and despite her quiet nature, mari actually rather enjoyed the experiences.

»baby's breath. it's a beautiful flower, and mari regularly puts a small bunch in her dorm.
»mint green. mari has a slight obsession with that colour. she loves mint green as much as snsd's tiffany loves pink.
» hiphop. contrary to her personality and looks, mari likes fast paced hiphop and is a fan of bigbang and block b. other than that she appreciates nell, infinite, spica, mamamoo and history. she won't admit she likes 2am though.

» mari often bites her fingernails. she's not anxious or nervous or anything, her hands are always just bored. their coordis have no idea what to do with her.
» she walks while looking down on the road, and thus often bumps into people.
»she likes her hair down, and when she does tie up her hair, she usually lets it down and ties it back up and again and again and again.
» mari enjoys boxing despite her nature. it gets her pumped up and she often boxes at the company gym.
» she's good at poetry- or writing in general and hopes to be able to write lyrics for the group one day.
» she doodles a lot. just really simple drawings, you'll be able to differentiate her lyric sheet from the others- it's probably covered in hearts, flowers, and all those girly things she draws.

stage personality : mari honestly just lives up to her quiet nature. she rarely speaks up and just keeps a small smile on her face to the camera and plainly tries her best. she knows what would happen if idols slip up but honestly she doesn't really need to worry about her image as she's really just too introverted. she does only keep the righteous and lying side off camera though.

trainee history : in 2006, mari set her mind on becoming a singer and begged her parents to let her audition. to her surprise, her family immediately drove to seoul, made mari move in with her grandma and told her to work hard at auditions and not go back home until she could debut. mari auditioned at cube, sm and jyp. frankly she was accepted to all three companies and she chose jyp at the last minute. she started training at the age of fourteen in late 2006 and because of her quiet nature, had few friends but luckily wasn't targeted by the other trainees either. in 2007, when wonder girls was announced, she had been in the line up for wonder girls but was replaced by park yeeun at last, as the agency claimed that yenny was "prettier and more talented".

she trained till 2010 and was incredibly discouraged and thus auditioned back at cube and sm and got accepted in both companies. when her contract expired late 2010 she transferred to sm entertainment and in 2013 debuted with melodia.

love interest 1 : jung jinwoon
personality : jung jinwoon is the perfect replica of those 'best friends' characters in kdramas that netizens coo over as he's treated the girl really nice yet the girl chooses the douchebag over the nice guy. not saying that jinwoon's been beaten up over love, but his personality is just like those nice guys. he never shows his anger and is forever calm and always keeps a smile on his face. jinwoon tries to look at the brighter side of things and is also too caring for his own good. he cares for everything about anyone and thus sometimes comes off as nosy; when really. he's just trying to help. his expressions are well controlled and even if he's bursting with anger he still has a faint smile on his face. the only way he vents his anger is to his poor pillow. he's irritatingly gentle, to the point where he touches his friend''s face as if it was an antique flowerpot. jinwoon is allocentric like mari and also puts others before himself, thus always losing valuable chances.

although he seems like the perfect gentleman, jinwoon has his flaws. he's extremely competitive, to the stage where his competitiveness outlaw his niceness and get him on peoples' blacklist. he doesn't know when to stop that mouth of his and doesn't know how to fliter his words, thus coming off as rude and having people slam the doorin his face. jinwoon is also annoyingly reckless as he never thinks before he acts- he might be acting for others but he doesn't think throughly before he does anything, making him come home scratched with a black eye.
background / interactions : jinwoon and mari go way back. they met back in 2006 when mari just became a trainee. jinwoon was fifteen and mari fourteen. they had become quick friends and they were both attracted to each other, but did no more about it. mari decided that she was way too young to know if she really did like jinwoon more than friends and jinwoon wsa basically too shy to say anything about it. in early 2010, jinwoon confessed to mari and even though mari greatly wanted to accept, she feared that she would drag jinwoon down and she refused. jinwoon had pecked her lightly on the lips and after that incident mari had changed companies. they've went from good friends to awkward acquaintances.

love interest 2 : ahn jaehyun
personality : honestly, when mari first met jaehyun, she thought he was perfect boyfriend material. soft spoken and introverted, jaehyun emitted a very calm aura that mari took an immediate liking of. jaehyun was one who never protested and took everything in his stride. he was soft spoken and gentle, and to mari's surprise he didn't get much attention even with his good looks. in fact, he was extremely shy about them and when jonghwan who had came to see her acting patted his shoulder and yelled "you pretty flower boy," he merely smiled and blushed. jaehyun hates attention and tries to stay as far from it as possible. even so, her has a playful streak and enjoys conjuring up trouble.

even so, jaehyun is a lazy person. he prefers lazing around rather than moving up and about. he can keep his face as blank as possible and pretty much no one knows that he was the one who dumped you in water. jaeehyun is also a little bit too ignorant for his own good and he doesn't care for things that he doesn't want to care about. even if it concerns him but doesn't interest him, he'd put it aside. he also cares about his pride quite a lot and always yearns for acceptance. and thus sometimes he does actions that could make some happy but others incredibly angry at him, or actions that he himself doesn't even want to do.
background / interactions : mari had met jaehyun on the set of you're all surrounded and they'd exchanged numbers and are normal friends who text sometimes in a while and call each other every few months. they're not close but their chemistry together is undeniable. Mari honestly doesn't know what to do.

story of love : mari's love life, in all honesty, just revolved around one person, and that was jung jinwoon. meeting him at fourteen years old, jinwoon was basically the only love interest she ever had in her life. her quiet nature never got anyone else's attention and she had no such experiences of petty kisses during kindergarten or anything of that sort. mari values emotions and after meeting jinwoon has only ever kept her eyes on him, but made no move. frankly, if mari didn't meet jaehyun, she might have just forever crushed on jinwoon. it's pathetic.

goals : she wants to settle down and have a family and all that, but she knows it's going to be hard if she's an idol, but singing has always been her dream so she just hopes that she can live her life as it is without anything bad happen to her, especially after melodia's

level of education : she's in college.

the car accident : mari was sitting in front and except for a broken arm and twisted ankle, she was unscathed physcially. even so, she had crawled out of the wreckage and had stared at the three bodies at the back with an open mouth and blank stare. mari was close friends with each member of melodia and respected seunghyun a lot, and after the incident she had shut herself into her room back at andong and refused to speak to anyone, and only ate very little.

aftermath : after disappearing and refusing to do anything for a bit, sunbi of all people contacted her and said that she had a song for her and wished she could sing it for the melodia girls. mari finally started being the girl she was before and promised sunbi that she'd return as an idol and would sing that song for minhye and soobi. when she was asked to join sunset, she had agreed immediately and is desperately looking forward to her solo debut.
