when it comes down to jihae's personality, she's very adventurous. she loves going on adventures and exploring the unknown. jihae's very openminded and is always up for anything. you want to go skydiving? jihae will happily accompany you. jihae's quite daring so she isn't afraid to try new things. instead of running away from her problems and ignoring them, jihae's the type to face it with a positive attitude. 

besides being a complete daredevil, jihae's very animated. even though she is twenty-five years old, jihae's full of energy and is constantly moving. she loves having fun and can be seen joking around with her friends. for jihae, she finds it quite easy to talk to people and is quite friendly. although it is her little rants and theories about the paranormal that scream them away. she doesn't really think when she talks; she tends to speak her mind and can be careless with her words. for jihae, she's prone to saying harsh words and can be a little insensitive, but she means well.

born in the seoul district of mapo, jihae and her family lived quite a good life. her father was an english professor at konkuk university while her mother was a freelance artist. since jihae's father was an english professor, she was able to learn english and english literature from him. out of everything she has read, she always loved the work of edgar allen poe. his work gave off this eerie vibe that just fascinated jihae. 

at the age of ten, jihae and her family moved to vancouver, canada due to her father's job promotion. while living in canada, it was a little tough for jihae since canada was a different country with a totally different culture. since she felt homesick during the first few weeks, she found comfort in horror movies. if there was anything that could cheer jihae up, it was horror films. after a while, jihae was able to settle in and made a few friends who also loved horror movies. seven years later, jihae and her family moved back to seoul, where her father was given the job opportunity of becoming a professor at hongik university. 

on a random day where she was hanging out with her younger brother, jihyuk, she was approached by a older woman who gave her a card, telling her that she would be a great model. since it seemed interesting, jihae talked to her parents about it. soon, her modeling career started and the rest is history.

 career history  : 
As a child, jihae found a lot of comfort in horror films. not only did she like getting scared by the jumpscares, she liked the suspenseful feeling it gave her. she liked how it got her adrenaline pumping. although, she didn't start acting until she was eighteen. it was modeling that really launched jihae's career. after being discovered in her high school days, jihae was able to model for elle and vogue korea. she was even qualified to walk at seoul fashion week. however, after modeling for a full year, jihae's interest in it continued to decline. after thinking about it for months, jihae finally decided to move on and go into the acting industry.

after auditioning for many dramas and films, jihae was finally able to debut in the drama, Kimchi Cheese smile, with actors like kim soohyun and choi kwon. following the end of kimchi cheese smile, jihae finally got to do her first horror movie in 2008. the movie was called "the loner" and had famous actors/actresses like go eunah and jeong yuseok. once jihae finished filming that movie, she started to receive many love calls from film directors due to her looks and solid acting skills. because of "the loner", jihae was allowed to explore the horror film industry and was given many opportunities like acting in movies like "a blood pledge" and "death bell 2: bloody camp". while filming, jihae also spend most of her time, studying. jihae knew that acting wasn't the most stable career so she decided to go to hongik university, majoring in english, so she could become a english teacher if necessary.

the year that jihae's career really shine was 2014, the year she filmed the thriller drama, "gap dong". with many actors like lee joon and sung dongil, the drama was truly a success and kept many of its fans on their toes. when the rumors of jihae joining roommate season two started to arise, her fans went crazy on the fansites. they really wanted to see the actress' true personality behind the scenes. unlike kpop idols, jihae didn't go on many variety shows so this was like a gift given from god for the fans.

lee joon : 26 : 9 : while filming gap dong, they found out that they had a lot of common interests and easily became friends. when they're together, they can't help, but crack a lot of jokes and do funny dances. even though they don't see each other as much as they want, they still text and call each other everyday.

bang sungjoon : 23 : 9 : while filming horror stories II, jihae got a lot of support from sungjoon. for jihae, sungjoon is like a little brother for her. she loves treating him out to dinner and is constantly "mothering" him. whenever jihae has free time, she will usually hang out with sungjoon most of the time. they'll generally go to the arcade or to the local food stalls.

Hong jonghyun : 24 : 9 : after being introduced by sung joon and lee soo hyuk, jihae and jonghyun became really close once they told each other their interests. everytime they hang out, they'll either go tree climbing or bungee jumping. for jihae, jonghyun is like her partner in crime when it comes to extreme sports. when together, they like to tease each other and make up corny puns.

when you first met hyunjae, you'll see that he's quite reserved at first. for him, he only talks when it's necessary; he's not the type to constantly be talking. he rather listen to people than talk to them. once you get to know him and open up his shell, you'll realize that he's actually really nice and mannered. he's always bowing to his elders and makes sure to greet them with a big smile. he might not talk that much, but he makes it up with his actions.

due to his reserved nature, he's very observant. you can always depend on hyunjae to ruin a hidden camera. hyunjae's a logical person so he's quick to notice things. rather than being careless and rash, he's the type to think about his decisions and makes sure that's what he wants. he doesn't like to rush into things unless it's something that he firmly believes in and his mind is set on it.

 first impression  : 
Before the show, jihae did know hyunjae, but only as an acquaintance since they were both friends with sung joon. when jihae first met him, she thought that he was extremely handsome, like god carved him out of stone. at first, she thought he would be a little arrogant by the way he looked, but it was soon proven wrong when he introduced himself to her. he was actually quite reserved and really nice. for hyunjae, since she was his senior in the acting industry, he thought highly of jihae. he had seen many of her movies and was actually a fan of her. after introductions and some small talk, jihae and hyunjae really clicked. since they both had a love for indie music, it was really easy for them to talk. although, hyunjae is still a little shy around jihae since he's a big fan of her.

 relationship  : while on the show, hyunjae and jihae were able to get even closer when they share their favorite indie music artists to each other. since jihae's more on the friendly side, she's constantly making hyunjae laugh with her ridiculously corny jokes and hilarious puns. during the time that they were on the show, they acted very close to each other. for example, hyunjae would always help out jihae when it came to cooking or picking out the groceries. while hanging out with each other, they would act very playful; putting red pepper paste on each others' noses and playing little games to see whoever had to wash the dishes. even though hyunjae's reserved and doesn't talk much, jihae enjoys his company. on the show, many of the members think that hyunjae and jihae would be an adorable couple and are constantly asking them if they really liked each other. after going on a tree climbing play date with her friends, jihae was able to grow romantic feelings for hyunjae. while for hyunjae, he always had feeling for jihae. while filming the show together, it wouldn't be surprising to see hyunjae confess his feelings for her, since most of the members of roommate have been cheering the two on.

 scene requests  : 
the mud flat : as one of the activites on her bucketlist, jihae suggest to the members if they want to go to the sinan island mudflats festival at ujeon beach. while at the festival, hyunjae and jihae fool around with the other members, throwing mud at each other and finding clams to eat.
let's cook : after going to the grocery store, jihae and hyunjae decided to cook dinner. while making japchae, bulgogi, and savory seafood pancakes, jihae and hyunjae mess around with each other, blowing flour into each others' faces. 
listen to this : while hanging out with each other in the living room, hyunjae's listening to music while jihae is watching tv. when one of his favorite songs comes up, hyunjae puts his headphones on jihae, telling her that she would like this song. 
tree climbing : before the day jihae goes tree climbing with her friends, she ask if hyunjae wants to come along since he is one of her close friends on the show. once hyunjae accepted, jihae got all excited and jumpy, telling him that he was going to love tree climbing. while hanging out, jonghyun and sungjoon mess around with jihae, telling hyunjae all of her bad habits and secrets. 
"i have to confess.." : after several months, hyunjae decide to confess to jihae during one of the roommate episodes. during the episode, after eating a late night snack with the members, hyunjae grabs jihae's hand, telling her that he wants to talk to her. while outside, away from the others, hyunjae hugs her and tell her his feelings. even though she's a little shocked, jihae smiles and hugs him back, telling him that she has the same feelings. even though her fans would bash both her and hyunjae, jihae didn't care because she was happy. with hyunjae by her side, life's better.

THE INTERVIEW

 what made you want to join this show?  :
"Well, after watching roommate season one habitually, i thought it would be great to join the show. due to my schedule and movie promotions, i've been living on my own since i was twenty. i really do miss coming home to someone so i thought why not join roommate?"

 what are you anticipating about the show?  : 
"i'm really excited to meet new people and make some close friends. i really hope that i'll be able to have a family to come home too. I'm also excited to show the members of the show my cooking skills. since i've been living by myself, i haven't been able to have any test subjects to try out my food, except for my parents. My parents say that my cooking is good and that i would make a good housewife, but i don't believe them."

 do you have any wories about being on the show?  : 
"i just hope that I don't weird anyone out. I have a very quirky personality so i'm kind of worried that some of the members of the show will misunderstand me and think i'm crazy. i'm worried they might think i'm a little wacko and won't be my friend. I'm actually a nice person so i hope they will not mind my weird personality."

 are you hoping for   : 
"for me, it's simple. I just hope I'll be able to gain some new close friends and a bigger family. I just want to come home to something, and not a empty house."
 

 additional comments  : I had so much fun filling out this application. although it took me quite a long time to finish it because i was procrastinating T_T (i'm a horrible person). I hope you like jihae, she was a bunch of fun. hopefully, she isn't too crazy.
