From One Person to Another

Hello!!! There is one thing I'd like to address: Your reactions. The first part (above the line), is about why people suggest you comment/upvote or whatever from my point of view. I've been seeing some complaints (outside of AFF) about how pushy authors can sound. I really hope no one thinks badly of me after this... The second part talks about the recent privacy options and some other stuff.

So as some of you might have realized, one of the special characteristics that distiguish us humans from other animals are that we like reactions. This is why people feel good when they are commented on in a nice way.

"That shirt/dress/hairstyle/color looks gorgeous on you!"

"Why thank you!"

People like to be flattered!!! Same thing with social networking. When someone comments (nice or uplifiting ones), upvotes, subscribes, or likes your story and/or blog, you usually feel good. Don't deny it. I know I won't. Heck, when someone comments on one of my stories and only says, 'Update soon plz', I get overzealous. Like really overzealous. I gain a subbie, I think, 'Another person on this globe really likes my story enough to subscribe!' These things make me feel very motivated to write more, to see what you guys will say next. There was a period of time on one of my stories that no one commented for five or six chapters. I was very dejected and thought I should just delete my account as a whole. No joke. Maybe my story was getting awfully boring that no one had anything to comment on.

I'm not going to make my stories suddenly [Subscribers Only] or [Members Only] because of your responses. They will stay free to the public for reading. Nor am I going to push you to upvote or comment on my stories. Like ever. I gurantee it. I'd do something wacky to prove it. It's just some analysis...

Tbh I am quite easy going on here and I'm very quiet also. So whenever I see the subscriber only before Aff had this huge update I got sort of irritated because I couldn't really 'see' where the story was kind of going. But I hope the author would understand that if they do put the subscriber only thing then if someone subscribes and unsubscribes they won't feel down.
And the members only is just really nothing to care about, I mean if you're already a member it doesn't matter much. But it's slightly wasted that you'd have to make an account to read only that story but if that's the case then there's a thousand other stories to read.
Then the comment/subscribe/upvote are just small little notes that the author has to hope they get a response. As a write myself I hope to get comments that will help improve my work. This is an invitation for criticism and if people feel like they're pushy then they have never seen pushy before.
