When you hear a knock…
you really shouldn't believe me when i say "it'll be the last" maybe i said the truth, maybe not
A friend of mine, Junji, was studying for a test on a snowy January evening. He was in his final year of high school at the time. Sometime after the sun had gone below the horizon, Junji heard something from outside his window.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Three knocks at perfect intervals.
Junji didn’t really think anything of it and replied by knocking on the window three times.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Junji’s room was on the second floor, and there was no balcony for anyone to stand on. With how heavy the snow was falling, nobody should have been outside anyway.
He didn’t think anything of the sound despite the strange circumstances surrounding it, and he returned to his studies.
But then he remembered something he had heard. Anybody who hears this story will surely encounter it. Even those of you curious enough to wonder what it is should turn away now before it’s too late.
Are you sure you want to continue?
This is what Junji told me:
It will happen when you’re alone. Completely alone. That’s when it will come.
You’ll hear a sound from a door where no human should be. For example, a window if you live on the fourth floor of an apartment building or a closed bathroom door if you live alone.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Three times. It is always three times.
Those that hear the sound don’t ever recall feeling scared. For some reason nobody can explain, the word “scary” doesn’t even come to mind.
But it is very important to pay attention to the following details if you have gotten this far in the story. You must knock on the door or window that was knocked on, and you must knock the same number of times that you heard. Even if it’s something silly like the refrigerator door.
“If I don’t do it, will I have some stupid dream I can’t wake up from?” Lots of people ask that question, and the answer is “No.” It’s much worse than that.
Somebody close to you, somebody you love, will suddenly be overwhelmed by uncontrollable miserable circumstances.
Somebody very close to you… Somebody extremely important to you. I know because it came to me.
The important thing to remember is that when you hear the knocking, you must reply with the same number of knocks. No more. No less.
I mentioned it before, but when you hear the knocking, you won’t feel any fear or discomfort. It will be a very clear, sharp knocking that won’t be drowned out by other various sounds.
When it happened to me, it knocked three times. I wasn’t scared at all. I knocked.
But my friend, Kenta, wasn’t so lucky.
He didn’t knock back.
He remembered what I had told him and decided he wanted to see what would happen if he didn’t knock.
Just like everybody else I know, he heard the knocking come from a place nobody could possible be.
A few days later, he got a call from a relative. His grandfather had just passed away.
—
Junji’s story ends here, but both Kenta and I were heartbroken when we heard of his grandfather’s death.
You must think I’m pulling your leg, but I also experienced something strange.
Junji, who was a member of the same club as I was in university, told his story during one of our meetings. We had all been drinking, and most of us were drunk. When he finished speaking, I became very tired and went to sleep in the next room.
But because the club members all lived together in that dorm, I wasn’t able to sleep. I waited for the underclassmen to calm down and go to sleep as I was one of the older club members.
As I was waiting for the others to wrap things up, I heard a knocking come from the sliding closet door. Because I had just finished listening to Junji’s story, I thought that somebody had set me up for a joke. I got up and ran over to the closet and opened the door.
One of the underclassmen was standing there with a dumb expression on his face. We laughed it off, and he left the room to hang out with the others.
But later, I did hear the knocking. It came from a window. I didn’t feel scared at all when it happened.
Of course when I told the others that it happened, they made fun of me. But within the next few days, five of the eight people present all came forward and admitted that they, too, heard the knocking.
If you hear the knocking… Don’t be scared. Knock back. It might just save somebody you love.
P.S: I DON'T KNOW if this is real or not. we'll see if i hear a knocking
