Flowers

Flowers

I went to a class reunion.

Mr. A, the class clown. B, the genius who would explain the problems to me. And Ms. C, the Madonna of our class, who was adored by everyone. I was happy to be able to meet up with my wonderful classmates again.

While we were excitedly talking about our memories, the topic of our school trip came up.

Wasn’t the ride great?

Yea, it was first class, hahahah!

In the middle of the conversation, the mood suddenly changed. Come to think of it, Kiso… Wait. Kiso? Why is he here?

The four of us and the rest of the class who had previously been having a good time froze.

Kiso was walking around, placing flowers at each person’s seat.

He came towards me, and without thinking I screamed at him.

“You weren’t there that time! You shouldn’t be in this place with us now!”

highlight for solution (+owner notes):

I had to change this one a bit. It was originally called Water, and rather than placing flowers at people’s seats, it was water.

Because… Kiso is the only student who did not attend the trip, and everyone who did go died. That’s why no mention is actually made of anything but the transportation—there was an accident that killed the students.

The water in the Japanese version is a sort of ceremonial cleansing of the grave, but that doesn’t really make much sense in the English-speaking world, so flowers it is!

The ride crashed and they all died? But Kiso wasn't there so he wasn’t killed? That was what I interpreted :p tell me if I'm right or wrong!
