A few tips for fanfic writer :-)

Hello everyone. I just feel like to share some tips with you guys when you're writing fics. Because I know, some of you are still new in this fanfic world. It's not like I'm being proud. Tbvh, I'm still learning to improve more since English is not my first language. I guess, it's better for me to share with you, since I know, there's a lot new writers out there. At least I can help you guys. Sharing is caring, right? Hehe.

1. Avoid telling the plot of your story.

  • Actually, I've been seeing this too often whenver I'm reading any stories. (not all of the stories). The author should not tell too much in their foreword. (Example: Park ____ is a school student and she started her life in her new school. Her parents passed away and she has been living with her grandparents. But then, she met with (your idol's name) in her new school and soon, they fell in love. What will bla bla bla..) As you can see, you're telling almost the whole story for your readers and it won't give any surprises to them. It's like, there's no point for them to continue reading the story. Because for surely, they can predict the story.

2. Avoid forcing your readers to upvote/subscribe.

  • It's okay if you put a short note at the bottom of your chapter (telling the readers to subscribe/upvote the story; if they LIKE it.) Just don't force them and become desperate to gain a lot of subscribers. You can't force someone to like something. If they LIKE it, then they will DO it. (Example: Please subscribe or there will be no update).

3. Enjoy writing the fic.

  • Think what's the reason you're in AFF. If you love to make the others feel happy by reading your story, then you better enjoy to write it!

4. Hiatus

  • Okay. Some of the authors are still studying (school students, college students). So, whenever you're going to be hiatus, PLEASE let the readers know. A short note will be okay; to inform your lovely readers that you won't be updating your stories for a few months and etc. I'm pretty sure, they will understand your situation if you tell them. Don't let them wait for your update without knowing that you're actually on hiatus. Loyal readers will surely wait for your comeback if they love your stories. TRUST ME! ;)

5. Language/ grammar.

  • This is the main problem for all of the authors, especially when English is not your first language. I'm having the same problem. I started to involve with this fanfic thingy in 2011. Don't feel down if there's a lot of grammar errors. You can still learn it while you're writing/reading. Tbh, I'm still in the process to improve my grammar and language. It's actually good for yourself, guys! You can improve your English when you're reading/writing stories. JUST DON'T GIVE UP :)

6. Avoid using Korean language (romanized) too much.

  • I've seen this everywhere and I admit that I used it too often in my first fic. It's okay if you're using korean words (romanized) in your stories. (Example: eomma, appa, eonni, oppa, mianhae, jebal and etc) But avoid use romanized words, which is too long. Because not all of the readers understand what you're trying to say.

I guess that's all. I'm just giving a few tips for you. Don't worry bcs I'm still learning though. GOOD LUCK for the new writers out there ^^ You can ask me anything in my Ask.fm if you have anything to know. :D
