Prompt: IS A WHITE LIE OKAY?

Title: Martyr Soul

Is a white lie okay?

White lie is not okay because it will bring hurt and pain when the truth reveals sooner or later. The greatest truth is what lies in someone heart. We won't be able to lie to ourselves. Yes, the truth hurt. That’s why sometimes we can't accept the truth. This is one of the reasons why people lie. Even when they know they will get hurt.

“No. It's actually not okay. And I hate when people say that, when they say it's okay even though it's not. It's better to tell the truth.”

― Nancy Werlin

This is the base of my story.

Some quotes that I found when I was doing the research for this story.

"What I’ve learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one’s reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one’s master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person’s view requires to be faked…The man who lies to the world, is the world’s slave from then on…There are no white lies, there is only the blackest of destruction, and a white lie is the blackest of all.”

― Ayn Rand

“The truly scary thing about undiscovered lies is that they have a greater capacity to diminish us than exposed ones. They erode our strength, our self-esteem, our very foundation.”

― Cheryl Hughes

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”

― Abraham Lincoln

“To pretend, I actually do the thing: I have therefore only pretended to pretend.”

― Jacques Derrida

“Silence isn't golden and it surely doesn't mean consent, so start practicing the art of communication.”

― T.D. Jakes

“It seemed there was no end at all to the lies a person could tell, once she got started.”

― Kim Edwards

"And isn't that the most tragic lie...

The lie where we tell what we wished were true and believe it...?"

― Merrit Malloy

“Nobody ever really sees me the way I am, underneath everything. But he did. He does.”

― Holly Black

“But I didn’t understand then. That I could hurt somebody so badly she would never recover. That a person can, just by living, damage another human being beyond repair.”

― Haruki Murakami

“Whatever we say

We're always telling each other exactly what we want them to know...

We are always telling each other

The truth

Even when

We're lying”

― Merrit Malloy
