I had problems with speech because I had to learn a new language (kind of still do.) And my brother too. I can say just be understanding and help them when pronouncing words and things like that.

OMO! Your engaged to your doctor? That's cool hahhhaa. Anyways, I don't have that much experience in that sort of field but I learned about it quite abit since my cousin can has a speech problem. Most important thing you have to do is make sure the family members help the child to speak and give moral support. You also have to start helping them with simple little words... It can be a little tough at first bcuz they can sometimes be shy or just stubborn at first but you have to warm up to them. Make sure to find out if the kid is being bullied. The fear of being bullied because of your speech can make them feel insecure. Most people especially teenager will make fun of people if they can't talk properly. A sure your kid that you just want to help the kid or maybe be friends with the kid. Soon they will warm up to you. Hope this helps :) I don't really see my cousin that much any more but learned a bit about it from her parents and stuff.
