As a KPOP fan

So, here are the reasons why I love my current state in the stuations I encounter in the everyday life as a fangirl.

1. Philippines is pretty much close tropical country to Korea. Koreans like having vacations in a sunny country to have a nice tan. (You'll get cancer if your too pale-color!) I have heard different KPOP artists spending vacation over here in peace without being tackled by huge amount of fans. I was about to see Yuri on their shooting site but sadly she wasn't one of the cast who was included in the scene but HEY! I saw Lee Jong Suk walking in the street and the staffs and casts stayed on freaking luxurious hotel if you asked. I'm was too bliss to take photos at that moment. Sorry.

Dying just by looking! *drools*

2. Philippines has very unique culture, some say if you want to do around the world travelling, seeing culture as the main character you have to check Philippines beforehand! The point is, the culture is so mix up that I recently found out that one of the words widely used in the country is ACTUALLY a korean word! Yup, you just read that one right, OH PRAISE OUR ANCESTORS, I could possibly have a 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance having korean blood in my system right now LOL

You can ask other Filipino KPOP fan's out there, I'm quite sure some did notice while learning basic Korean Phrases in dream to visit the homeland of the oppas.

Ttaraoseyeo, Kdrama fans will understand this point, but as for those none, I'll explain it. As you see, Koreans are quite addicted (whatever you call that) with -oseyeo suffix, I think it means formalism or an etiquette manner of them, Ttara or spelled as 'Tara' in Filipino means Let's Go! and Ttaraoseyeo means the same. Can you connect the dots? I know, it's amazing.

3. Modernized Koreans wanted to learn English as early as they're children are toddlers. Since in Philippines, English is widely used in a sense that you can even have a conversation with a fellow, whose unfortunate and cannot finish school, and he can happily tell you that Filipino stuffs you're curious about! (well you can just set aside his grammar for instance). Korean Population is dratically increasing over a year in the country (I got this from school so I guess you can consider this one valid), that my hometown was cited in Wikipedia for being well known in teaching English courses. (I know Wiki is not reliable but still it entertains international audience!) There's this international school which mainly consist most of it's students by Koreans, and every Sunday you'll find loads of Korean kids age 8-16 roaming in the near-by mall in our neighborhood, and it's pretty amazing that those kids can't speak even, say, one decent English sentence to the saleslady about buying this cap he found, but this saleslady understood him right away, he was like, "Miss, Money, This?."  while holding the cap, that's what I heard came out from his mouth and the lady understood!

Koreans have practically pop out everywhere in the old city. Some even went to KPOP events, my friends usually joins as a cover group so I notice them around, some became one of the audience and one became one of the judging panels! Isn't it surprising?

Sometimes, when they're talking to each other whispering, I felt they're mocking at those people dancing in the stage, people whose loving KPOP, I didn't really like studying their language, and I'm not even trying, just discovering! so I can't clearly really understand but it goes with the Sixth sense.  It fits with the senario regarding Otaku's being not accepted in Japan. Some Koreans in the city thinks its ridiculous for Filipinos to love their music. Shouldn't they be proud of it? Pretty funny indeed. They really came to study. Don't think I don't like the Korean population in my hometown, I actually have Kfriends (sounds funny) and they help me out with my tumblr page. Oh! One of them is named Jae. We used her name without asking. It's my partner-in-crime's idea, not mine, HAHAHAHA

4. There's this course about politics, law, goverment stuff name BS Political Science in my university, where they have this hundreds of books in our main library and as far as I have seen inside, they have books about Korea: the culture, the history, how to speak, how to write and even some novels being translated! When I asked my teacher with about it (I had some units with politics) he said that students of that course really do thoroughly study the system in Korea, I could imagine my teacher being a tour guide and explain stuffs. Awesome. One thing just bugs me, I haven't seen any single book about World Wars, Cold Wars, Civil Wars that pertains with the west coast, even the war between Japan and America in the Pearl Harbor! I assume this people do focus in Korea that even my teacher got hook up in Kdramas and relates it with the day's lesson or I'm just blind not seeing those books.

4. I was a fan of KPOP since 2005, where Shin Mina's song became popular in the local radio stations, clearly at that point of time I was still 9, and I have seriously thought it was a Spanish song! I have look up on Shin Mina without thinking she's a Korean like seriously! I'm not even informed about the existence of Korea! I think Japan was the 'holy-est' land for me at that time hahaha! (Friendster, which is pretty popular social site in the country at that time, has loads of pictures of her in my account) So I had an idea about Koreans when my father introduce to me 2ne1, he's a fan, a fan that he's proclaiming himself as the very first Dara fan! Not-so-really-a-big ahjusshi fan, right?

As blackjacks and Filipinos know, Dara or mostly known in the Philippines as Sandara Park is an actress/singer/dancer in her early days here. I seriously envy my bestfriend having a picture with her in one of her mall shows in that mall in the neighborhood. You can seriously use your bike to go there! It is really close to our home that until now I wanna repeat that day. My bestfriend got her signature, her first album, shakehands with her, talk with her, and has a picture with her. WHO WOULD SERIOUSLY NOT GIVE ABOUT THAT?! You just can't have that chance, and international idol visiting a little city? Pretty far from the capital I can say. So dad had me go crazy with KPOP when I was 12, I didn't spread the virus very much because KPOP wasn't really appreciated at that time but thankfully UKISS came and showered their pheromone and my classmates caught it, they seriously thought I didn't knew anything about KPOP hahaha. Then KPOP really clicked when Wonder Girls came to seen with Nobody I know, how it affects the whole world, I can describe it as the first impact of KPOP wave before Gangnam Style.

I'm not really a big fan today in KPOP, I listen to their songs, even the recent release ones but not in a sense that giving time squeeling over oppas because, as what my friends says, I was used to it, just frequent "I heard" stuffs and try to check it at my vacant time.

Other fans describe it as leaving, but as you can notice, as we grow old we have priorities and goals in life. I guess being stuck in KPOP acquire lot of time, especially mentioning POLLS, so I guess this kind of lifestyle is suitable to the younger ones, who has no insights for the future, not in the sense they became jobless but most kids don't give a care about careers yet until you reach College! Like me! When I enter College I had care less about KPOP matters. I know you can relate. I may sound old with this blog post but I'll be 18 just this year and a 2nd year student in College. People say I'm too young to be serious about life but hey! I grew matured about animes and KPOP as hobbies. Now they're just merely a past time. Just wait and see when I graduate hahaha.

Quite a long blog post. Thank you if you're reading it thoroughly word for word,I'm just using this post as a practice in writing and ...

I hope your not my English Teacher.

You practically said almost everything that's going on my mind. When 'No Breathing" cast went to Davao I almost flew there. But sadly my supervisor won't allow me to take aleave. lol. At first I was a Jpop fan before, like my whole world only knows about Japan. I even remember a point wherein I complained about kpop being known in the Philippines. I've been a kpop fan since 2008, (thanks to my online friends, I got caught in the korean hallyu. I really didn't know 'Answer the Phone by' Mina is a korean song. I only found about it later. Honestly I totally agree with what you said on the first sentence on the last paragraph. Being a kpop fan for too long, attending almost all the conerts and buying their albums and everything is right now 'nakakasawa na' . Im still updated but not that too much updated and active as before. Im a KISSME btw. heheeh I'm happy that kpop had been my inspiration in everything I do and made me what I am now.
