Point Of View

Hello.

As a fanfic writer, I always want to please my readers; to satisfy them with my stories and writing style. There are several major points that need to be made before writing and point of view is one of them.

I use third point of view in most of my stories. It gives me more freedom and flexibility for transitions between scenes and it also helps me to develop the characters better. I can also tell the readers about what the other characters are doing in one chapter rather than using the first point of view. It's fun and easy to use third point of view.

However, I, several times, did write using first point of view. It allows me to understand more about the protagonist (main character); it also allows the readers to be part of the character's world and identity. Although first point of view has limitations, it can give a strong connection between the readers and the protagonist.

I'm preparing a new story but the problem is I can't decide whether I should write it in first or third point of view. One time, I want to write it as the first point of view but another time, I want to use third. Of course, I won't be switching point of view...it's too complicated.

So what do you suggest? Which point of view do you like to read? First of Third?

xoxo :)

The great literary freedom about third point of view is that the centre of concaiousness can reside in any character, allowing the exploration and depth of the character without the first point of view. Take Harry potter for example, we are in Harry's head about 90% of the time but other character's motives and actions are easier explained by the narrator whose judgment isn't clouded by bias. Just to clear it out- third person point of view is better (in my opinion of course)
Hope this was useful :))

I personally prefer a first point of view, since it would relate to me as a reader rather fast, like you said, but sometimes third point of view explains more thus readers could catch up the whole situation without missing any points. I think its actually okay - at least for me, lol- if you use both of views as long as the whole story isnt damaged or something. Bytheway, I'm looking forward for your story :))
