I like it

Ideas run rampart inside my head but I couldn't quite capture them. And when I try to at least do something, nothing happens. It's frustrating. It's like I'm excited for something but my battery is low. I'll just list down what I like in stories to get out of this - whatever this is.

1. I like it when the characters and their individual stories are relatable. They are flawed, they make the wrong decisions, they act stupid sometimes but they have redeeming qualities that make me root for them.

2. I like it when the authors give characters common sense. Characters don't have to be geniuses or gifted. Just don't make them utterly stupid or ignorant to the point that it is annoying. Innocence and stupidity are not the same. I

3. I like it when a story is told in one point of view, especially in third. But I can live with first person.

4. I like it when the point of view is consistent - when the author sticks to first person of one focal character throughout the end despite wanting to get into the head of other characters. Hmmm...I can tolerate pov switching among characters, preferably, just two characters per chapter. l like it more when I can differentiate the povs without the author putting up labels.

5. I like it when the characters live within their means or that I know their source of income/allowance. I just don't get how one who is unemployed or doing freelance work can buy all expensive kpop merchandise and go to concerts in S. Korea and Japan. At least make them rich kids because everyone knows how expensive authentic kpop merch or how high the standard of living in Seoul.Tokyo is. Not to mention plane tickets.

6. I like it when the heroine is not a damsel that needs saving. Yes, the hero can help her but she should be able to get herself together on her own. I like it more when she saves the hero from time-to-time.

7. I like it when some scenes make me laugh, cry... feel

8. I like it when there is meaning behind the name or the place which is connected to the plot. Those little details make the story special.

9. I like it when the characters have quirks, which makes them unique. I like it more when their quirks is connected to the resolution of the conflict.

10. I like it when I don't have to edit every sentence in my head as I read. Proofreading is greatly appreciated.

11. I like it when the conflict is revealed in the first three chapters. Or it gets boring.

12. I like it when the characters talk to other characters, and not just themselves. Too many monologues/inner dialogues bog me down.

13. I like it when the author is able to lie to me and fool me into thinking that what she wrote is true. Suspension of disbelief, yay!

14. I like it when I don't know anything, when I can't predict the ending. I like the feeling when I am not so sure if it would be a happy ending for all of them.

15. I like happy endings. A happy ending for me might not be what most consider a "happy ending". It means that I am just happy that the author gave me a satisflying ending.

I believe that I could add more to this list but for now, this would suffice. And yeah, I am guilty of doing the things I don't like to see in stories that I read. There are exceptions too. If I like the plot, I forgive switching povs and inconsistent povs, sometimes.

p.s. thanks for the encouraging words you left in the previous post :3

How about when people say, "I don't like the ending, I'm not really satisfied but it's meant to end that way—it can't end any other way even though I want the ending to be different"? :)

Hmm... These are some of the things I would like to incorporate in my stories.
I'm not the best author but I try to change my writing style from time to time.
Like the POV thing, I used to jump from one person to another but now, I have learnt that we don't actually have to do that in order to get into someone else's head. It's seriously fascinating when we read a lot of books and slowly find our own colour.

Right now, I just feel frustrated because I can't seem to write anything. Going through this major writer's block for my long stories. So, I've settled myself to write one-shot, which I found harder to write since it has to be short but also logical. I dunno... *shrugs* Whatever it is, I still enjoy the process of writing>< It makes me feel giddy...

LOL>< I'm rambling right now. Sorry for this long comment...
