Criminal Minds opens with two men on the phone discussing a situation where one the men, named Jimmy, had to take a child to the hospital. He is very upset and obviously having some type of mental break. He is a boxer and Tony, the man he called, is his coach. Tony tries to calm Jimmy down and it works so they hang up. However then Jimmy notices he is covered in blood.Cut to Hotch jogging with an attractive woman named Beth. She tries to talk to him and he is a bit more than awkward. She is trying to make a date with him to go cycling and he seems reluctant, but then it seems maybe he is interested. He talks to Rossi about it and he tells Hotch to go for it. He also jokes, "you know what they say about riding a bicycle".In the Round Table Room Spencer only hears part of their conversation and asks "Who is getting a bicycle". Quite a funny moment.In Philadelphia two men have been beaten with a metal pipe. JJ thinks it looks personal, Rossi notices undoing and Prentiss points out they were set up on crates. According to Morgan the unsub cleaned the blood off the victims necks and covered their faces which shows remorse. Spencer says that this type of aggression coupled by a loose grip on reality leads to more killings. They are on the way to Philadelphia.
