[TUTORIAL] How to Make A Poster

(Romance)

Sooo, YukiSYan24 asked me how to make a poster. Everyone else is also welcomed to read and take some lesson from this tutorial. I'll show it step by step on how I made poster using the one I've made for her request for her story. The theme for the poster is sad romance and I'm going to make it in light color.

The software I use is Adobe Photoshop CS5.

For the character, there are Baekhyun (EXO) and Michisige Sayumi, which I got from google.

For the background and the texture are these, which I also got after googled using keyword 'sad texture' (don't judge me, I really clueless on how to get a good texture pack TT__TT)

After have all the pics you needed, next, get ready to make the poster! :D

1). Create new canvas (File >> New, or ctrl+N), and decide your canvas size, I usually use 1.4 x 2.1 inches (no particular reason, just because) 

2). Add first background and positioned it whichever you see fit.

3). Add second background on top the first background layer and positioned it whicever you see fit. After that changed the layer properties from "normal" to "overlay" and reduce the opacity to 90%. (Make sure the selected layer is BG 2)

so the two background will blend and now look like this:

4). Add Baekhyun's pic, positioned and resize it as you see fit.

Erase (E) using 'soft round' brush with opacity around 88% and you can variated the brush size as you see fit. Keep erase until Baekhyun blend well with the background, be careful to not erase his head/face too much (better use smaller eraser brush size when erasing around the head).

Oh, look there's a text-box on Baekhyun's shoulder! Nah, no need to worry, let's just conceal that text later using Sayumi's pic.

5). Add Sayumi's pic, positioned and resize it as you see fit.

Change the pic into black and white mode by accessing it through Image >> Adjustment >> Black & White.

Then, same with Baekhyun's pic, erase Sayumi's pic until it blends well.

6).Add first texture, positioned and resize it as you see fit (I rotate the pic 90deg)

After that changed the layer properties from "normal" to "soft light" and reduce the opacity to 80% like in step 3. (Make sure the selected layer is Texture 1)

7).Add second texture, positioned and resize it as you see fit (I rotate the pic 90deg).

Changed the layer properties from "normal" to "soft light" and reduce the opacity to 70% like in step 3 and 6. (Make sure the selected layer is Texture 2)

8).Add the title, quote, leave your name and you're done~ :D

As you see, I repeatedly using 'as you see fit', since there's nothing exact in designing poster, and the percentage of opacity I stated also can be changed as you wish, everyone has their own preferences and style.
