Background : Hwang Mihyun was born on August 9, 1995 in Busan, South Korea. Ever since she was little, she had a growing passion for music. Her parents let her listen to a Whitney Houston album and Mihyun was incredibly inspired to become a singer. At first, her parents didn't approve of letting their daughter becoming a singer. But Mihyun eventually managed to convince her parents. She then began to teach herself how to play piano and guitar, where both instruments were given to her by her grandparents. She also began dancing by watching other artists. Since then, her love for music took off. Eventually, she taught Minhyun how to play piano and both siblings would create music all day together. Mihyun also did figure skating as a child and still does it today. She recently graduated from Seoul of Performing Arts High School in 2014, majoring in Singing and Performing Arts. She currently attends Chugye University for the Arts, studying to earn her Bachelor of Music.

How did you get in the agency? : She became a trainee at JYPE at age 11, but left after 6 months due to sudden fainting spells. Mihyun took about 4 months to recover before she auditioned for Starship Entertainment and passed.
How were your trainee days : Her trainee days were filled with singing and dancing. Mihyun's daily rountine consisted of sing, dance, eat, sleep. She often practiced with Dasom and Dasom took good care of her. Mihyun often struggled because she was younger than most of the other trainees and for her dialect. She was often called "Pint Size Busan Kid." She also had to get treatment because she was diagnosed with vocal nodules, but eventually recovered. She often contacted her family and would occasionally visit Minhyun while he was training at Pledis Entertainment
