EatYourKimchi Fanfic Issue.

Quick warning: Stuff you'll read here are my opinions. I also do not know everything about this issue, but oh, well, I'll still spill my beans. 

Now, I'm pretty sure that most of you guys have heard about that certain issue. EYK asked for our favourite fanfic's links and all. 
I do agree that that request of theirs is quite senseless. If they'll be filming a video about that, it could be very offensive, in my opinion, and it could hurt. They are honest about their own opinions, but there still are people who could be somewhat sensitive. I'm not willing to absolutely break in and tell that couple to not do it; but what they could do is, yes,  make a video about that certain topic but not involve any stories written by, us, fans. 

They should've thought about what could happen before they've announced/tweeted that. They really shouldn't have asked for specific fanfics. No-no. They, however, also said that they'll ask for the writer's permission. But, honestly, that can also be a waste of time. 
Hmm, some writers who're willing to actually advertise their stories would actually submit and allow them to discuss about their story. But as far as I'm concerned, if the EYK couple would mention/talk about the stories of those kind of writers, their viewers could still comment harshly. Personally speaking, we do know that there are millions of types of people here in this world and we all have diverse thoughts, multifarious comments and personal ruminations.

So, rewinding a bit; as I've said before... They still can film a video speaking about fanfics but not associate, introduce or criticize/review any fanfics. That could be so grim to the writers involved. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we, writers, still need privacy. 

Whilst writing this post, I actually also thought that, you know what, why don't they just NOT talk about this? 'Cause I suddenly felt an ill-omen, making me feel like the EYK couple could still sternly speak. Anyway, if that couple still wills to discuss about fanfics, let them go on. BUT! They shall not offend anyone. Neither shall they arbitrarily speak rudely nor snort in laughter because of any our failures. 
Okay, okay. They can constructively criticize, but please, in a very cordial and respective manner. 

Moving on, EYK has now gathered loads of haters and lost supporters/followers for themselves due to this somehow-careless annoucnement/idea they've shared. In my very own opinion, I feel somewhat bad for them. I guess they've learnt their lesson to be more cautious next time? And honestly, I have to say that EYK did change a bit. I've been an EYK viewer for a couple of years already, and I have to say, comparing them to who they were and what they did years ago to who they are and what they do these days? I see differences.

By the way, I'm not siding any cliques or factions; just telling my personal thoughts. I do not want to ridicule anyone. Just wanting to tell my opinions. And to the ones raging about this issue, there's no time for that. If you think that it's completely nonsense, don't waste your time on it, throwing hatred. It is quite disappointing, but oh, well, let's not make this into a major big deal and just forget it, too. Just hope for better things and improvements.

i guess eyk team mentioned that they won't review without any permission from the authors.

I think that some people are over reacting. I mean yes, I understand that some people don't want their work to be criticized by others and that there should be permission and stuff, but that's no reason for people to be mad at Simon and Martina. They didn't mean for people to get mad; they just wanted to discuss fanfictions, which are a pretty big thing in fandoms with OTPs and all. They're just going to have to be pretty cautious on what they will say about the stories that they do choose, and they also better be sure that the real author minds or not about the story being reviewed. Simon and Martina always get blamed for their humor, when they are just being who they are and they're being honest. If people don't like that then they could ignore Eat Your Kimchi, but they decide it's better to complain about it instead of understanding that everyone finds different types of humor good or bad.

If n one submitted then EYK wont have any to use. One rule, if the fic is not yours, ask the permission first if the author will aloow you to recommend it. Repect. And I know Simon and Martina know better then that. The issue just somehow grew out of proportion because of useless reactions here and there.
If its now yours, then dont use of recommend it anywhere.

Just sayin... Instead of wasting out time on this stuff, let's just continue doing what we're good at... Spazzing and fangirling...

let me just say first, that I used to be a huge fan of eatyourkimchi, but I am so upset with and disappointed by the way they have changed and some of the decisions they make that I just... I don't know. I don't HATE them, but I don't really like them as much as I used to. :/
of course we don't know exactly what they're going to use these recommended fanfics for, but given the nature of most of their videos, it's going to be (attempted?) humor, and someone is bound to get hurt and/or offended by what they have to say. it has made it a little better that they said they're going to ask the author for permission before using anything, but that's still not a certainty. they HAVE posted stuff before without permission, why wouldn't they do it again?
this whole thing is a great, big mess. all it has amounted to is causing problems and I wish it never happened. I also hope their video - if they do decide to make one, even after this storm - won't make things even worse. I'm just worried. lots of fanfic writers have already made all of their fics private or even deleted their journal/accounts because they don't want their stories to be used. really, it's a mess.

I understand we are all entitled to opinions, but we don't have to be insulting such as how Martina was for BAP's newest video and she was insulting there's no use denying it. I admit, some fans can act overly sensitive even if someone gives a nice opinion, but they have every right to be upset if someone gives their opinion in a rude/mocking/hateful manner. I don't want people hating on EYK even if I might dislike them though, because hate is just wrong and doesn't contribute anything good of the situation.

I agree with you. I stopped being their fan after Martina's harsh opinion about BAP. I understand that some people have their own opinion but she doesnt have to be so harsh about it. like seriously they gained more haters because of it. you ge t whut i'm sayin? Don't get it? I actually dont get it either >.<
