Straightforward: Hyeran never hesitates to give her most honest opinions towards anyone. If she finds fault in someone's work, she would offer her most proffesional constructive critism- in a way, she can be quite a perfectionist when she is working. She is level-headed and her thoughts are always wise and on-point. Some people may find Hyeran's straightforwardness off-putting and dislike her for it, but it doesn't bother her.

Daredevil: Growing up with to elder brothers, Hyeran was accustomed to playing with toys passed down from them. Getting injured or bruised was not a big deal to her due to her high tolerance for pain. Roller coasters, bungee jumping; all these doesn't seem to frighten her. Extreme sports was something that she had always wanted to try. The thought of it is just so exhilarating to her. During photoshoots or MV makings, she is always up for anything. "I will never use a stunt double," she always says, "it's not like I could die."  Even with that said, sometimes the things that she does puts her life on the line.

Motherly: Caring, giving and dependable- Hyeran always looks after her friends and their needs first. She has a keen six sense that allows her to know if something wrong is going on. If someone is feeling low, she would be there, offering them advices. Of course, together with her straightforward personality, her advices will be straight to the point and will never beat around the bush. She will say things to make you stronger in the long run, not things that will just lift up your spirits for that small moment. She believes that the hard truth will allow someone to grow into an independant, better individual. 

Nonchalant: Hyeran is usually very calm, collected and composed. She never shows much negative emotions on her face, such as sadness, anger or anxiety. But when she does... you know that she had reached her limits. Because of this, she is given the nickname "Miss Mong". She usually wears her straightface and sometimes it may come off as she does not know what's going on when she actually does know. Of course, Hyeran is able to express herself well. Being straightfaced doesn't mean that she isn't capable of emotion. 

Quickwitted: Hyeran is able to think quickly and comprehend of the situation well. Thus, she is able to solve problems as soon as they surface. Learning song lyrics and dance choreographies is easy for her as she is able to catch the main points quickly. This always gives Hyeran an advantage for her professional perfectionism and she always tries to help her members with the choreography clean up.

Messy: Hyeran hates cleaning up. She hates it a whole lot. Maybe its the country bumpkin in her, growing up in a small house. Her closet is always disorganized and sometimes articles of clothes and undergarments are strewned all over her room. She calls it her organised mess, and always tells her members that she knows where all her things are at despite her room being a chaotic mes. In a way she is lazy and doesn't mind changing in her dorm infront of her members. "What you have, I also have," she would retaliate. 

Background 

In a nutshell, Hyeran lived a really simple life. Kang Hyeran was born in Daegu, South Korea, to her mother Kim Seul Na and her father Kang Ji Sung. She mixes with her brothers a lot and developes a tomboy personality since young. When she was 5, her grandmother fell ill and her family decided to move to Busan to take care of her. Her parents worked in as workers in a vegetation field and worked hard to make enough money for bills and personal expenses. Despite being not so well-off, her family is most supportive of her dreams to becoming an idol. She has always been vocal about wanting to follow this path since the debut of DBSK.

At the age of 15, she decided to email audition videos to various companies like the Big 3 and some smaller scale companies, and 2 of the companies got back to her. One of the companies was Jellyfish Entertainment and the other was SM Entertainment. Deciding that SM would give the best prospects to her career, she rejected the approval of Jellyfish's and went ahead with SM. To be honest, her singing and her dancing were not that good when she auditioned, but SM saw the potential in her and decided to nurture her as a talent. 

Training was hard as she had to travel back and forth from Busan to Seoul for the past 4 years; the 3 hour bus ride was her only time to rest. During her 4th year of training, there was a rumour going around that SM was planning to debut a new girl group after EXO's debut. Many trainees worked hard, and so did she. She knew that her looks played a huge factor in her success in casting and she wanted to prove to them that she was more than "just a pretty face (with the horrible fashion)". To accomodate for the increase in training, she was assigned to a dorm near the SM Trainee facility and she worked her off, improving dramatically in her dance skills and her vocals.

Kang Ji Sung / Father / 56 / Farmer - Hyeran's father is always stern towards her because she is his youngest child and his only daughter, thus the need to be protective is high.

Kim Seul Na / Mother / 53 / Farmer - Hyeran's mother is extremely proud of her daughter's achievements and she always goes around the village telling them that her daughter is going to be an idol one day. Sometimes, she gets worried whenever she sees Hyeran training so vigorously.

Lee Yi Na / Grandmother / 72 / Retired - Hyeran's grandmother often tells her stories about when she was younger, and likes to compare herself with Hyeran. She always asks Hyeran when she's going to bring a boyfriend back home and to have children, which embarasses her a lot. 

Kang Hyun Jong / Brother / 24 / Army - Hyeran's brothers are extremely protective of their little sister and they often try to caution her about the "bad side" about kpop industry. Hyunjong is currently serving in the army and Hyeran rarely gets to see her brother. When she does, she breaks down to tears because they rarely get to see each other. 

Kang Hyun Jun / Brother / 23 / Student - Her second eldest brother likes to a lot. He would often tell her to call him "hyung" instead of "oppa" because of her boyish personality. He nags all the time, and tells her to cut down on her y dances.

 

Likes: 
• Snapback caps - Hyejong has a sense of "chill" fashion and she doesn't like to dress up much. She thinks that caps make her day easier without going through the hassle of picking nice clothes or styling her hair.
• Extreme sports (eg. Sky diving, bungee jumping)

personality: Charismatic onstage, but a huge dork offstage- that's what Hakyeon is. Hakyeon is the leader of VIXX and he leads them well with his "umma"-like instincts. Having such a crazy leader like him must be fun, compared to one who always sticks by the rules. He can be quite a whiny child sometimes when he doesn't get what he wants. He never hides his personality and his feelings are like an open book. One thing that is completely opposites with Hyejong is that he hates the idea of extreme sports as he is deathly afraid of heights. 

interactions: When Evermore first debuted on Music Bank, VIXX was having their comeback. Rookies went around  handing out their debut album to their seniors to promote themselves amongst the kpop idol crowd. Hyejong met Hakyeon backstage and handed out Evermore's debut album to him and he gave her his blessings. At that moment, both of them felt instantly attracted to one another but Hyejong brushed it aside as just an eye candy.

A few months later, they meet again at a variety show and she decides to ask for his number herself. He gladly gave it to her and they started having a friendly senior-junior relationship. Once, Hakyeon showed his support by posting a photo of himself with Evermore's album on Twitter and fans thought that he was a huge fanboy of Evermore. Until on a radio broadcast, Hakyeon said that Hyejong was his ideal type of woman and a scandal broke out. Speculations of whether Hakyeon and Hyejong were "real" were made. They tried to keep their relationship strictly proffesional between themselves, but their feelings for each other slowly bloomed. Hakyeon wanted to make their relationship official, but Hyejong was hesitant.

PERSONALITY: Ken is a total weirdo. In some ways, he just clicks with Hyejong easily despite their opposite personalities. Ken tries to joke around with Hyejong most of the time, but she always ends up brushing him away. "Irritating," she thinks most of the time.
