Stop justifying acts of crime.
Stop justifying acts of crime.
It already frightens me how users here think that it is okay to steal; that plagiarism is a form of flattery and it seems that the author should be thankful his/her work got stolen. Or that plagiarism is a way of spreading love.
Today, there's a whole new level of insanity I just discovered.
Apparently, there is nothing wrong with cyber bullying. They are doing us a favor through their blunt honesty. While people around you lie, they give you the truth.
It amazes me that people will bend the truth whenever it suits them. And once again, it disappoints me that users fail to see what is right from wrong.
Do you want the truth? This: Plagiarism is a crime. Cyberbullying is a crime.
Every country has copyright laws and fortunately, we have a law here in our country against bullying and cybercrime which includes cyberbullying. So in my reality, cyberbullies are criminals and cyberbullying is not condoned.
In AFF's ToU, the third guideline says, "Don't be a jerk. If a ton of people are complaining about you, we'll notice."
In the comment section, we usually see this: "Comments are moderated. Keep it cool. Critical is fine, but if you're rude to one another (or to us), we'll delete your stuff. Have fun and thanks for joining the conversation!"
And before posting a blog, there's this: "Do not write inflammatory posts about other users (no bashing)."
FAQ tells us what to do with bullies, trolls and jerks:
Q: Another user is causing a disturbance and is bothering other users. What do I do?
A: Please contact a moderator.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Words are double-edged swords, it can uplift and it can destroy. We can offer the truth without being mean or rude and definitely, without using harsh words. Bullies should reserve their unsolicited bluntness and criticism to those people who know that "they don't mean any harm" so that they won't end up hurting others.
Cyberbullies are not uplifting people with their words. They are not building up others through the sharpness of their tongues. They are not making the victims' lives any better.
Cyberbullies bring people down and they hide behind usernames - going anon in tumblr and in ask.fm, creating troll accounts in twitter and fb and every site in the www. If they truly cared, why not say it to the person's face?
We don't owe them anything.
One can be blunt, one can be straightforward, one can be completely honest without stirring up anger or inflicting hurt to a person. I do believe that sometimes, people need to hear it. Sometimes you just have to shake them to make them realize things but this often applies to friends and family - to people who knows you like they do, who truly care for you. Their honesty is not meant to harm you unlike those of cyberbullies. Those strangers don't really care about you.
Anyway, don't be a push over. Know your rights. Know your limits. Freedom is not absolute. Your freedom ends the moment the freedom of others begin.
