Resource Packs and Threads

I posed this as a question in my main tumblr account:

Is it right to put other artists' resources (psds, vectors, brushes, textures, patterns, icons, etc.) into one pack and distribute it to the public -asking us to like/reblog?

Tumblr has the "no reposting" rule that I have shared in my past postAnd so I was so suprised to see anniversary celebration resource packs or thousand follower resource packs with a disclaimer that the resources inside are not their own getting liked/reblogged. o_o

Why not just link the original graphic resource posts in a huge masterpost, noh? That way they won't be taking credit away from the artists who made them. All they did was download the resources, put them inside a folder, and then post it in tumblr as their resource pack, when really, none of the contents (or only five) belonged to them.

So my answer is no. Feels wrong, even if you do credit them in a separate text/pdf document which downloaders hardly read.

Here in AFF, it's important for me that the resource thread I subscribed to, post original resources (like aleric's). Aside from font packs, I expect the resource thread owners to make their own textures, coloring psds, patterns, icons, vectors, renders, etc.

Otherwise, all you have is a resource masterpost thread or a resource recommendation thread. Yes, finding these packs and linking it here from DA or tumblr can hardly be considered as hard work. Anyone can do this.

While I prefer original resources in a thread, I guess it is okay to recommend other packs from other sites every once in a while, given that they also post their own resources :3

(Don't forget to like/reblog or favorite or comment when taking anything free from anyone)

I think they can post it on here but they MUST get permission from the original creator first, before they do it. Sending a mere link to it isn't enough they should ask first or put their own resources on here instead. I think of it as stealing as well, if they don't even credit or ask the person who made the texture/pngs whatever.

Keeper, you speak just the truth. It is right that resource providers provide only THEIR resources unless- given permission from the original reesource maker.
