STYLE — Sookyo is well aware of how people sometimes color-code their style according to the season. But to her, she wears whatever she feels like wearing, and her priority is comfort. She loves immitating models from the western culture, as that was where she was raised and what she was used to seeing. In winter, she like wearing long, thick coats, furry ones would be a plus, shawls, and snowboots. When it's not too cold, she'd put on her jeggings. She'd prefer brighter colours in winter, since the weather is already so dull. x x  In fall, she usually bring out the jeggings that she may not have the chance to wear in winter along with covered shoe. x x In summer, she like her dresses with peep-toe shoes or knee-length skirt. To accesorize, she'd put on a hat. x x x x Lastly, in spring, she'd usually start wearing longer pants with a jackets. x x x

TRAITS — affectionate, opinionated, passionate, practical, overthinks too much, open but likes to keep her feelings to herself.
PERSONALITY — Soo Kyo is very passionate in the things that she likes to do, going great lengths to accomplish them. She doesn't mind going a little out of the way to get the best results that she could possibly achieve. She's driven by the strong will to succeed. She is very interested in the film industry, often buying loads of movies, old and new, to watch by herself, or with Kathleen. Everyone says she is too ambitious, wanting to be a well-known screenplay writer worldwide, but she just laughs their remarks off. Hey, it's her life. Having a big dream is better than having no dreams at all. And when having a father who swore that she wouldn't be able to survive by herself, she works herself hard to prove him wrong. She doesn't like being forced into doing something, hence, likes to take her own route in persuing film, even when success is not guaranteed.

Having a very loving mother had brought out the caring side of her. It's easy to be rich and spoilt, but her mother molded her to be 'a person of depth and character' [Her mother's words that she holds on to till now]. She absolutely dislike shallowness that sometimes shows too strongly in people. She tries to be pleasent to people she had just met, often opting to be polite and agreeable. When someone gets to know her better, they would realise that she is actually very opinionated and often worry about the littlest things. She over-think things most of the time, and then she would need someone to talk things out with to clear her mind and soothe herself. However, this makes her feel that she is being too needy and clingy.

She avoids getting too attached to anything or anyone temporary, looking at these things from a cool distance. This does not mean that she is cold. In fact, she is a warm person that gets along easily with almost everyone. It is just that she would not get too involved with anything that she knows would not stay in her life for too long, for example, people at the CLIFF CABIN. Again, this does not mean that she is cold to her co-workers, she just doesn't like getting too emotional. She knows that she'll be in CLIFF CABIN a few years before she has enough to chase her dreams, but she knows that in the end, she'd have to leave and that CLIFF CABIN is not where she wants to be her whole life.

She prefers being practical, and places everything in perspective. Not staying long? Don't get attached. Something is broken? Fix it or throw it away. He is being a jerk? Leave him. She likes keeping things simple as she doesn't like to be betrayed, like her past. If you know and hope too much about someone, it's easy for them to hurt you. She'd very much prefer to not get hurt anymore.

However, at times, things getting complicated is inevitable. In these situation, her practicality level kicks up a notch and she'd calmly assess the situation and the best way to solve it. This applies when her friends talks to her about their problems, be it about their love interest or their own life. She'd give them her opinion on the situation, and advices if asked for. It is easy to do when the problem is not directly related to her. But when it is things that is related to her, like problems regarding her family or herself, it's hard for her to detach herself from the problem. This would send her running for the mountains as she very much like to handle her issues alone. It is not that she's a lone wolf whatsoever, it is just that she doesn't like burdening herself on people. If she has to cry her heart out, she'd prefer doing it alone when her vulnerability wouldn't show. She hates appearing weak, striving to appear strong in front of people.

LIKES —
+ Films; applied for a job in CLIFF CABIN to save up to go to a film university.
+ Movies; especially romance or comedy. But as an aspring film student, she watches them all.
+ Photography; she likes taking pretty things that she could look back to and remember.
+ Reading; she is never not found with a book either beside her or safely kept in her bag. It is something she picked up as a child, and what fuels her to be a screenplay writer one day.
+ Food; she loves the food served at CLIFF CABIN and didn't keep mum about it. Sookyo would often go around at the end of the day, praising chefs for their food. Sometimes, Minseok would take over cooking a dish, and would 'accidentally' make a little bit more which Sookyo would take home with her, trying badly not to blush when Sookyo tells him how amazing the dish was.
+ Chocolates; A girl's bestfriend.
+ Tea; She used to go out with Kathleen to try new tea cafes reccomended by friends. Doesn't matter where it is, she'll drive them there.
+ Beaches; She likes the feeling of sand under her feet, the cool waters enveloping her body in their waves. She likes sitting  alone on the beach at night, staring at the moon, it calms her after a hectic day at work;  Her impulse to go to Sokcho Beach to get some fresh air turns out to be a step towards achieving her dreams.
+ Swimming; To her, it's the easiest way to stay fit after all the food she eats at CLIFF CABIN.
+ Dressing up; Not that she is vain, it is just a confidence boost.
DISLIKES —
+ Street noises; Cars honking, tires screeching. It is just a horrible sound, so out of place at her secret haven, Sokcok Beach.
+ Self-centred people; They appear too shallow to her, unable to have intelligent conversations with.
+ Wearing shorts; It's too...exposing.
+ Feeling too much; Emotions are something she doesn't like to deal with.
+ Coffee; no matter how 'mocha' it is, she doesn't like anything with coffee. Nada. Thank you.
+ Being betrayed; It just hurts too much.
+ Cursing; It's sounds unintelligent.
MISC + TRIVIA —
+ Sookyo wants to start anew, so she changed her name to 'Shin Soo Kyo' instead of 'Marie James'. She would fit better in korea with a korean name instead of an english one. Furthermore, she doesn't want her father to find her. If he would do that. Just in case.
+ Sookyo rents a cabin near the beach. It makes her an easy target should the cafe be understaffed for the day and those staff closer to her usually crash over at her place if they live too far/ have an early shift the next day after a night shift. She doesn't mind. Her lodgings could get too lonely sometimes. x
+ She is an exellent swimmer since young, the best swimmer back in her highschool.
+ She really hate getting all worked up, be it being really sad, or getting too angry. That is because she tends to dwell on the cause of these emotional breakdown for a long time, finding it hard to get over it.
+ She has a 650D that she brings along with her everywhere she go. She had taken a part-time job in Estonia to buy this camera by herself, not wanting to depend on her father, making it the most valuable thing she own.
+ She takes pictures of people she wants to remember. She knows that somehow, everyone would leave her, especially those who says they wouldn't. Pictures will stay forever, right?
+ Sokcok Beach feels like her own relaxation place. A fresh start.
If she's not comfortable with what she's wearing, she'd be tugging, adjusting, pulling and plucking at her attire the whole day.
+ Sookyo owns a macbook, present from her grandma, where she indulges herself with her movies or editing stuff.
+ Sookyo has a driving license

BACKGROUND — Noah is an Estonian, and Hyemin is a Korean. They met when Noah came to Jeju Island for a business meeting. He swept her off her feet, married her, and brought her back to Estonia, where he lives. Sookyo loved growing up in Estonia (Europe), where her Dad is a CEO of a shipping company. Her life as a little girl was perfect. She had all she wanted, and her mother doted on her, giving her all her attention. She would bring her out to the beach to watch passing ships, and even taught her how to swim.

It is only when she grows up that she realises that it is not normal for fathers to not be loving to their daughters and that her life wasn't so perfect after all.

When she was 10, her parents got divorced when Hyemin found out that Noah cheated on her. She tried her best to get custody for Sookyo, but knowing that she'd have to bring her back to South Korea with no idea of how she could raise her with no job in sight, she left Sookyo with Noah. Sookyo was still too young to truly understand why her mother, who claimed that she loves her, left. She felt it as a form of betrayal, hating her mother for doing so. It was only when she grew up and heard the full story from her grandmother (father's side) that she understood. She still felt betrayed, but by her Dad this time. Determined to right her wrongs, she work hard in highschool so that she could get into a film university in South Korea and surprise her mother with her arrival.

During her highschool days, she only had one bestfriend; Kathleen Lim. They had first became friends when they realised they're the only asians in that school, well, half-asian for Sookyo. As the years go by, both of them became inseparable, hence, it was hard for both of them when Sookyo told Kat that she was leaving for Korea after highschool.

Her father hadn't even wanted to hear her request. She took matters in her own hands and left Estonia to both persue her intrest in film in South Korea and to meet her mother again, remembering the words that her father had thrown to her when he saw her all packed up.

"You don't know where your useless mother is. You don't know South Korea. You don't know where to start looking. If you leave, you're no longer my daughter. You'll have no money of your own for university. You will fail, Marie James!"

She hadn't planned to, but she decided to apply for a job in CLIFF CABIN to save up for her futher studies as well as to go and look for her mother. Having to support herself is really hard, but she motivates herself with thoughts of meeting her mother as well as proving her father wrong.

LOVE INTEREST — Kim, Jongin. [Kai]
BACK-UP — Oh, Sehun. Kim, Minseok

PERSONALITY — Kim Jongin is young, lazy, and extraordinarily attractive. That is the first impression that he gives people, which makes him kind of shallow. His loud voice and bigger-than-life presence is both his strength and his weakness. These traits of his makes him a super friendly person, easily approachable and attractive. He brings the sun into CLIFF CABIN with his adorable laughter and big, shiny smiles. But, too much of brightness is blinding. To those who know him, he could get a little too much to handle, sometimes, and they would end up having to take 'breaks' from him for a while. He's also a easily distracted, not remembering something for very long.

Jongin knows all of that. Knows the impression he gives people and how sometimes he's too much. But he doesn't feel the need to change. He knows that deep down, he has a dormant serious side to him, but, that's too boring. Furthermore, Sehun is fine with him, and that is what matters. Perhaps, one day, someone could accept him for who he is.

RELATIONSHIP — Sookyo met Jongin on the day after she arrived on Sokcho Beach. When she landed in Korea, she had wanted to take some time off and a local had reccomended that she'd go to Sokcho Beach.

She was just exploring the place alone, wanting to seek tranquility with her camera and as she was busy snapping away, a guy's head pops into the picture as she was snapping. Pulling her attention away from her camera, she looked at the guy, mentally telling herself that she had to delete his picture from her camera even tho he's kinda cute. She hadn't wanted to remember him. [refer to trivia] The guy, Jongin, cheerfully said that since she has his picture, she has to visit CLIFF CABIN with him. Now. Her first impression of him was that he's too good-looking, and too cocky. She did take the flyer, tho, and walked away, wanting to visit the eatery later.

When Sookyo got a job at CLIFF CABIN, Jongin would always pester her to take a picture of him as she had never done so. Sookyo would always reject him. She finds him horribly annoying, and too shallow to think that she'd want a picture of him, just because he is good looking. She often by taking pictures with Sehun, who at first seem very annoyed at her but later make small efforts to join in in her tease, which, of course, cause Jongin inconsiderable amount of jealousy.

Sookyo enjoys teasing Jongin and knocking his ego a level down or two. But after a few months of being in CLIFF CABIN, she finds herself looking forward to him parading his ego, which would bring her more laughter than annoyance now.

Jongin finds Sookyo annoyingly adorable. He hates it when she takes a photo with Sehun. Like the immature guy he is, he finds her a fascinating challenge, fresh, unlike all the other girls that throws herself onto him.

"WHICH JOB POSITION ARE YOU APPLYING FOR? + ARE YOU APPLYING FOR FULL OR PART-TIME WORK?"
— "I'm applying for a full time waitressing job but I plan to work my way up after learning the ways to run an eatery."
"WHICH POSITION IS YOUR SECOND CHOICE?"
— "I wouldn't mind being a busgirl. It's the experience that counts"

"WHY ARE YOU APPLYING FOR THIS JOB?"
— "I am currently saving up to go to a film university as well as finding for...somebody. Someone important."
"HAVE YOU HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WORTH MENTIONING?"
— "Not currently.. I've just arrived Korea, you see, right after I graduated highschool. The part-time job I did back in highschool was a student helper for an art studio for kids. Part of my job scope was to deal with parents. My people-skill was tested. I know it is two different kinds of industry, but I hope Cliff Cabin would give me a chance."

"WHO, AT CLIFF CABIN, DO YOU GET ON WITH THE MOST + WHY?"
— "About that... I'm not so sure. I've just arrived *laughs awkwardly*. But I would think I'd get along fine with everyone."
"WHO DO YOU GET ON WITH THE LEAST + WHY?"
— "Now that you've put it that way... there was a guy I met the other day. He was giving out flyers and introduced to me Cliff Cabin. But eh, he seems a little cocky. I don't know if I might have any issues with him.."

"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS FOR CLIFF CABIN?"
— "Other than flyers, vouchers and promotions, perhaps Cliff Cabin could venture out into the media side? Commercials? Posters? I would gladly help out. I have some experience there!"
"SO, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY WAS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL? WHY?"
— "Spirit animal? Eh... I guess it'd be an Vulture? A vulture is largely misunderstood. People think that it's 'bad' for eating carcasses, when it truth, it just goes for what it wants. If it wants a carcass, a dead animal, well, who could say no? Furthurmore, it's a wild bird! It's freedom is vast. Free to do whatever I- , I mean, the vulture wants. Heh."

SCENE REQUESTS
+ Probably when Kai finds out her real name [Sookyo didn't exactly keep it a secret, but he forgot and just remembered again  cause he's such a dork idk x3] and kept teasing her and calling her that. "Marie James~~~~ Marie James~~~~"
+ One of the nights when she sits on the beach and looks at the moon and suddenly Kai comes and sits with her. He's having a bad day, so they just sat in silence, taking comfort in each other's company.
