[MASTERPOST] Site/Feature Suggestions

Hello AFFers! We're going to try something a little different. Before now, users have left their suggestions for new features (or for tweaking old ones) for the site on our wall. As more people come to us for help, technical issues, and suggestions, it becomes harder to keep track of all the things you lovely people mention to us. We love the feedback and love to hear what users would like to see on the site in the future.

So now we've created a single spot for users to come and make suggestions for features and ideas that may have been circling minds for a while. This way, it's easier for the Helpers to keep track of who suggests what, and what is suggested in the first place. It's also easier on the administrator, as we can simply link him to the blog every so often in case he's thinking of new things to conjure up for us all! ^^

Some often asked-for features/frequent suggestions:

- an application for Asianfanfics on Android/iOS
- instant messenger (such as a tagbox/chatbox for users other than the main chat page)
- a more detailed rating system

If you have a suggestion, leave it in the comments here! Feel free to check out what other users might have to say on what they'd like to see around here; you'd be surprised at the number of requests we get for certain features people want to have.

TTFN!

Hello, will there ever be a consolidated stat page that contains all stats for your stories? With total views, total comments, upvotes and such.

Is it possible to not get notified for story updates from certain stories only? This is because in graphic and review shops, most of them always have a rule like 'stay subscribed' because of which there are unnecessary updates of shops we get on our story updates section even after our request has been done. So is there a way to switch off story updates of certain stories without unsubscribing?

By reading this, i want to ask, is there maybe a way where we could up vote stories without having an email account? I don't have one and i am not able to make one due to a lot of technical issues and me not being able to even set one up but is there another way in which maybe you could allow us to up vote a story in which we really enjoyed? Maybe for those who do not have an email, to do what you did with karma points back then. Having 25 kp in order to vote. That would be really cool and i would be really grateful if that was brought back. Thank you :)

On our subscription list to a particular author, it only shows the list of fics you have subscribed to and you wouldn't know if you have read each until you open it individually. I'm trying to organize which ones have I read or which ones I haven't so wouldn't it be nice if we'd be able to see a status list or create a check box there that says read or not read? Or if it doesn't work out like that, is there any other way to do it? I hope somebody would read this.

I think it would be nice if there was a designated "Author's Note" area at the end of a chapter that people could collapse/expand if they wanted to read it. I understand you could just add it at the end of a chapter yourself, but if you have a lot to say and it's not necessarily required for a reader to read, I'd rather not make them scroll through it all to get to the "Next" button. I've tried adding it myself but it requires a script which AFF removes as soon as I save.

I hope there's a way to filter the comments we've made so far. Like from the most recent or the earliest, or per month. I am looking for a particular comment and I just couldnt find it.

Another thing, if the author deactivated a profile, is there no way to keep my own comment? What if the author decides to delete a fic or make it private, will I still see it?

wouldn't it be nice after reading a fanfic there would be similar fics like it?
like you know? in netflix, they would recomment you shows similar to what you watched (or i think they do, idk i don't have netflix) or like how you can search in google "books like percy jackson / harry potter" and there would be a long list recommending you to different sites

it would be nice if aff could do this since i'm really desperate in finding fics similar to one fic ;;
or like "98% of users who read fic X also read fic Y" something similar to that

i'm probably just babbling here

I would like to suggest a Reading History feature, that way I could go back and re-read stories I've read without clogging up my subscriptions, or perhaps a Favorites section, where you can save the stories you want to re-read.

Well I think it would be nice if we could tag people. Like if we were to make a post and we are talking about someone— we'd like them to know they are being mentioned.

an easier to use tagging system would be nice; often times, the hardest part about using AFF for me is just finding a story to read, because the tags are vague and there's a lot of them.

I've always felt that fonts help build a certain vibe to the story and the genre one's writing. But the font options here on aff are limited. (And is it just me or are the palatino, bookman and ubuntu fonts all the same? :/)

I wish there were more fonts :) (perhaps Century Schoolbook :D )

As weird as it may sound, but I wished there wasn't any limitations on wallposts. When I work on advertisements (I'm an advertiser) some of the authors' description and words to say are far too long and it results to cutting off.

Preying on you tonight by Abs2891 should be featured. That story deserves much more than it gets.
