CONTRADICTIONS: Baek Su Min and Gam Da In don't smile much in their pictures ^^, but April's character is pretty cheerful! She also has her belly pierced and wears gray coloured contacts often.

STYLE: Despite living in Seoul for quite a while now, she still sticks with more of a North American street-style fashion: crop tops, bandeaus, tank tops, short-shorts, and converse. If the weather is a bit chillier, she'll stick with leggings or jeans with a sweater or crewneck. She's not much of a jewelry person but does keep her belly ring on on most days. Jiyu wears makeup as well, but tries to keep it natural-looking and subtle. She prefers it if her hair is down.

When she has to go to formal red carpet events or to events with a similiar dress code, she usually lets her stylists dress her with no complaints. She enjoys being dolled up. Sometimes, she gets her fashion inspiration from her talented stylists.

PERSONALITY:

Yang Hyun Suk loves all his children equally, but there is just one child he cannot control. It's YG Family's devil child wild child who believes in after-work hours like none other. When she's on stage or at practice, she's professional, punctual, friendly, and accepting of criticism; she's the type of celebrity staff wish others were like. The only thing is that as soon as she's done her last known schedule of the day, she's out of there faster than you can scream "STOP RIGHT THERE!" (which is what her vocal instructor seems to be losing his voice and mind over these days). If you tell her she should be at the company, practicing from 9AM until 10PM, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. You can expect to find her working diligently and giving it 120%, but once that clock hits 10:01PM, you won't be able to find her at all. The only time you will is if she decides to extend practice at her own accord. Otherwise, expect to find her shopping in Apgujeong.

Her wild nature and lack of obedience usually lands her first place on Mr. Yang Hyun Suk's list of people that make steam blow out of his ears, but no one can deny her raw talent. And at the end of the day, even though she's once again escaped extended hours of training, and instead, has gone to Apgujeong to pig out on cake again (according to the pictures of her food she shamelessly sends all her coaches over text), the 'Sorry :) I'll work harder tomorrow, you don't have to worry' notes she writes and leaves to all the people who manage her is what makes it difficult for people to stay angry at her. And she never goes back on her word. She'll outdo herself in practice the next day, again and again. She delivers. She's reliable. She makes ends meet. She gets things done. She knows who she is, and she knows where she's going even though other people don't sometimes. Her independence and carefree attitude is her charm.

Most idols tend to start off enjoying celebrity life before they end up hating it when it begins to take over their personal life. For Jiyu, this is how she manages to keep the two separated. So if you accidentally call her April during her "after-work hours", she might hit you.

BACKGROUND:

Jiyu was born in Seoul, South Korea, but immigrated to Toronto, Canada when she was three, which explains her lack of fluency in the korean language. The only time she was exposed to it growing up was when her parents spoke to her in korean. Otherwise, it was just english, english, english. Her parents supported the family while in Canada by working multiple jobs at a time. They were a middle class family and lived in an average house in an average neighbourhood, but they were pretty happy.

Jiyu discovered her passion for music and hip hop when she was 14 years old and just entering high school. While in high school, she did poorly in her academic subjects. She was barely passing. But while her grades were falling, her interest in music was sky-rocketing. She got more involved in school music clubs, and as time progressed, she got involved in the underground hip hop scene. She loved performing; it was exhilatering. She wanted to do it for a living, but she knew in North America, there was no way someone like her had any chance of making it big.

So when she was 17, she made the decision to reconnect with her roots and travel back to South Korea to see where she could go from there.

Lee Seokjin | 50 | Father | Jiyu's father is the kind of father that worries excessively over his children, and since he and his wife are stuck in Canada while his daughter his halfway across the world, you can imagine how much white hair he has from stressing. He calls his daughter all the time to see how she's doing, even though he's already struggling to pay the telephone bill.

Lee Jina | 47 | Mother | Jiyu's mother wears the pants in the relationship. While her husband is laidback and in general, a family man, she is easily annoyed and often tells her husband that if he has time to be calling their daughter so often, he has time to help her chop onions in the kitchen. But despite her sassy attitude (which is probably where her daughter got it from), she has good intentions.

Lee Jinseo | 16 | Little Sister | Jinseo absolutely adores her big sister, and often fights with her father over the telephone to get a chance to speak with her. Compared to Jiyu who's a bit of a rebel that makes her own rules, Jinseo is an angel that doesn't have a bad bone in her body. Also unlike Jiyu who has dreams of being a celebrity, Jinseo has dreams of being a doctor.

Ailee | 27 | Friend | Ailee is a close unnie that shares the same views on celebrity life and personal life as Jiyu, though she acts on it less aggressively than Jiyu does. Ailee is the kind of friend that will worry and text Jiyu constantly when she stays out too late doing God-knows-what.

Krystal (f(x)) | 23 | Friend | Krystal and Jiyu share the same sassiness, and they understand each other well since both are from abroad. While Krystal is blunt and straight-forward, Jiyu likes to tease and sugarcoat things. They're like two halves of a whole and resemble typical high school best friends who act like they haven't seen each other in 15 years when they saw each other yesterday.

Bobby (Team B) | 22 | Bobby is Jiyu's closest friend within the YG Family. His optimistic and friendly nature works well Jiyu's personality and they both share sloppy North American habits that they both haven't fixed yet. Jiyu acknowledges him as her brother, but Bobby might like her as something more...?

HOW DID YOU MET: Taehyun was asked to do a duet with Jiyu for her debut mini-album since producers initially thought she'd need a bit of help picking up popularity, and what better way to do that than with a member of WINNER?

HIS PERSONALITY: Taehyun is the complete opposite of Jiyu. He's always absorbed in his work 24/7, serious, a bit closed off, and despite his intentions, he often comes off as unfriendly and unapproachable. He's really not that good with his words, and prefers to stick with his band members than go and socialize with new people. At first, he finds Jiyu irritating and her habits intolerable, but as soon as he gets a taste of freedom the first time he gets dragged out with Jiyu, his view begins to change. Jiyu really shows him what it means to have fun, and especially since Taehyun is a huge star, it's rare for him to have chances to go out and just be himself. She really draws him out of his shell and overtime, he begins to loosen up a bit.
