Foreword
When you fall for a fantasy, how do you know if it’s more than make-believe?
Jesus, those ing sweet eyes. Long eyelashes, too. Why couldn’t he meet a girl who hit him that hard?
“Take some advice, Vincent. If you don’t need to be in this business to keep a roof over your head, get out as soon as you’ve got whatever it is you’re trying to earn. Don’t let it the life out of you, because that’s exactly what it will do.”
Vincent stared at him for a long moment. Kyuhyun resisted the urge to pull him into his arms and kiss him for real.
“Has it the life out of you?” he quietly asked.
“Sometimes I think yeah, it has.” He squeezed his arm before letting go and turning away to check his cell for messages, to see if SooYoung had called.
“How bad did you get hurt?” Vincent asked him.
Kyuhyun turned, startled. “What?" He couldn’t read the expression in the kid’s eyes.
“Whoever ed you over. How bad?”
Kyuhyun felt the old familiar chill settle over him. “Real bad,” he softly said. “And I damn sure don’t want to do it to anyone else. Just remember, this is all make-believe.”
