NYC Concert Fan Account

It’s a little late to post this I suppose, but I was in NYC without internet until today. This account is pretty Soohyun-focused, but I put in a lot of random funny things that all of them did. I bolded the bits that mention specifically what the boys did to make this 3000-word thing easier to skim through.

So. U-KISS concert. Okay.

I had bought the VIP tickets, but I didn’t really know how to use them… I’d never been to a concert like this before. So I got to the line at about 5:15, and stood there till about 6:25. At that point I was confused why something hadn’t been said about early entry, so I went and asked the theater and they were like, “Oh yeah they're done letting people in early” and I was like “but wait what I have early entry tickets” and he was like OH and let me in. So my sister and I ended up being the very last two people let in for the photo session.

We were waiting in the line, which went up the stairs, so you couldn’t see what was at the bottom. So I stooped down to look and there was U-KISS. Right there. Oh. My. God. I just… like, it’s surreal seeing them in person. It’s just… hard to believe that they're real people, honestly. The fact that they act like a BL anime doesn’t help.  I was first struck by Eli, since he was on the end. Then Hoon, because his hair is so bright red. He’s really the one that made it real for me that they were actually there, for some reason. Probably because I feel like I know him the least. They all looked so little. I feel like… they're so important and famous and I love them so much, they shouldn’t be regular-person sized, you know? Weird thing to think, I guess. It’s just odd. Soohyun seemed the most different to me than how I see him online. He has such narrow hips, so he just seemed so much littler than I’m used to, since I don't always see his whole body on TV. The whole bunch of them are fairly scrawny-looking compared to most people I’m used to seeing. Still, they're all beautiful and lovely and everything. That’s just how I felt seeing them. I would also like to mention that they are still all taller than me.

Anyway, then it was photo time and I was walking forward and I was like what is happening wow like three of them just said hi to me KEVIN IS TOUCHING ME KEVIN’S HAND IS ON MY SHOULDER umm quick do a V sign  and then it was over and I was like what just happened. And you know, I think I was so overwhelmed by the fact that these much prettier and thinner than me men were right there, that I didn’t even look up. I don't remember seeing any of their faces up close. My sister says that Soohyun (my bias) was smiling all big at me and I didn’t even see it. ㅠㅠ  We totally didn’t have any time to prepare and since we were last they were rushing, so that made me sad. But we still got to be right next to them! And Kevin Kevin KEVIN. TOUCHED. ME. I swear it’s like your favorite book/movie character coming to life and being there, that’s how surreal it is. Afterwards I texted my other sister who couldn’t come and told her about it and her response was “OH MY GOD THEY’RE REAL.” lol

…and now I am totally all about Kevin, help. Whatever, they're all fantastic. And Kevin really is so lovely. I would never be able to be as nice as he is, as much of the time as he is. Eventually I’d be like GET OFF ME but he’s still like “Hi 350th fan! *big smile*”

One good thing about being last in line was the fact that I got to keep staring at U-KISS while they got out of photo-taking formation. I looked back in time to see Soohyun bent over laughing his off in that way he has, clapping his hands and standing with one leg off the ground. That man is such a dork, I swear. He was a spazz the whole night, really. To no one’s surprise, I’m sure, lol. You all know how quick he is to laugh at stuff or grab people. I feel like he has two settings: dedicated, serious leader/singer; and hyper 5 year old.

I ended up 7 people back from the stage. Sad, I could have gotten closer if I’d known how to use my ticket. Grr. But I was still close so I suppose I can’t complain. They came out on the stage like 10 minutes late. While we were waiting, every time the music got intense or staff came out to take pictures everyone started cheering. And then they’d all be like ‘Dangit, still not U-KISS!’ I was finding it rather entertaining honestly.

The first song they did was Stop Girl, which surprised me not at all. I did think it was weird that they didn’t do it in English, though. I mean, they do Japanese versions of their songs in Japan, why not the English version of Stop Girl in America? Did they not have enough time to re-memorize the English lyrics? Whatever, I still liked it. Then they did She’s Mine which was also great. Gosh, it was just so amazing being able to see them right there. I still can’t get over it. I’ve been watching these guys on the internet for over a year, never thinking they would come to this country. But there they were!! Amazing. Really. And I was thinking it wouldn't sound was good because, well, I sure as hell can’t sing while dancing; it’s hard. But no, it was all beautiful. ^^

Anyway, I’ll spare going over every single song, but they did so many that I wanted them to. I was so pleased they did Tick Tack; not only is it extremely awesome but it is also the song most responsible for getting me and my sisters into U-KISS. Also I can sing along to their Japanese songs quite a lot better than their Korean ones. And their singing in person was wonderful. I was sad they didn’t dance to 0330 because I like that dance, but they needed some time to catch their breath so that’s perfectly fair of them. Kevin kept catching the bottom of his shirt on that move in DoraDora where they run their hands up their bodies, so that he was flashing his stomach, and I was like oohooh Kebin you naughty thing.

I think some of us were confused when they said that Believe was their last song. We were told MMHN would be and really, don't they always do that one? And we wanted to get out our balloons for them… but then they came back, phew. I’ve only ever seen American bands so I didn’t know if k-pop bands did that sort of thing. But I’m sure glad they did, because one of the last three songs they did Neverland. I wanted to see that song so bad, it’s so awesome and energetic and so necessary to be in a concert. And they did this other song that… I actually have no idea of the name of. I knew I was missing a few random U-KISS songs on my mp3 player… I need to rectify that immediately.

INTRODUCTIONS

One of my favorite things from the night was when they were going through their introductions, mostly because of Soohyun. Everyone was going down the line and doing some version of “I’m so-and-so and I’m so happy to be in New York!” When Soohyun said hi we all cheered so loud, and he got this sort of happy abashed look on his face and just looked away to the side ginning really big. We cheered more and he kept looking like No, stop, why do you all like me ahhh. It was. So. Cute. I swear his face looked like it was going to crack from grinning. Does he still think he’s not worth the attention he gets??? He’s so precious, though!!

Kevin was asking everyone how they felt being in NY/the US (I think it was during the same time). Soohyun said something like “I am feel good” and we all laughed and Kevin was like “Okay, Soohyun is feel good hahaha”. And Soohyun looked over like I know you are making fun of me and got this sort of fake-mad look on his face and kicked one foot at him.  Then he recovered by saying “I feel guuud” and doing a body roll while running his hand down his stomach. We all laughed and cheered at that so he did it again. He also did it another two or three times during other talking bits because we all liked it, lol.

Then there was Hoon: “Seeing you all in person-” (me: wow, impressive English!) “-KissMe’s are so HOT!” Heehee Hoon you ham! ^^  It actually took me a couple of seconds to figure out what he said. Hoon’s English grammar is better than Soohyun’s but his accent isn’t great. (But it is definitely CUTE.)

Q & A

During another break in songs, the staff rolled out this board covered in post-its with questions and the band all huddled around it trying to figure out what they wanted to answer. Soohyun walked over to the board and was like ohhh…. And he went “So many English…” It took a couple minutes while they checked out the questions and they kept being like “Hold on just a sec” and the Koreans kept looking at the English-speakers for help which was cute. Kiseop was the first one to settle on something and he went off across the stage away from the rest. I was thinking, Are you going to do this in English all by yourself?? But then he looked back at the others still gathered around the board and was like Ummm actually I will wait. And I really can’t remember what his question was. Grr.

I suppose there’s no point recounting Soohyun’s question because we all know it culminated in him saying he wants 3000 babies with his international wives. LOL.  But I’ll tell it anyway. Soohyun was answering his question in Korean and Eli was translating for him. He said Korean KissMe was like family. Then he said a bunch more stuff and at the end I heard him go “…wife?” and I was like did he just say… And then Eli translated that he said that International KissMe was like his wife and we all started screaming. And then friggin’ Kevin: “How many babies do you want?” and Soohyun: “well there’s 3000 people…” oh my god. HAHAHA. When Soohyun said that he sort of cut himself off laughing at the end of the sentence and lurched off sideways laughing and sort of cringing like “I can’t believe I said that”. Although, it’s Soohyun and he’s sort of a so actually I bet it didn’t bother him that much. lol

Poor Eli didn’t have any questions addressed to him. And then after he picked a random one he wasn't allowed to answer it because fans kept interrupting him, lol. I definitely heard someone yell “Take off your clothes!” Ahaha poor Eli. Eventually Soohyun shouted, “BE QUIET!” into the mic. Lol. The question ended up being something like “How do you like American burgers?” and he said that they’d actually had burgers for breakfast.

AJ’s question was “what do you sing in the shower?” and he said lately it was the songs he wrote. After urging from us he started rapping a part of She Ain’t Mine. We wanted him to sing part and finally Kevin was like, “AJ, they want you to sing the chorus!” Then AJ was like ‘Ooohh I can’t remember it… maybe the fans should sing it for me…’ *holds mic out to crowd*  XD  He is so good at working the crowd, I swear.

Hoon’s question was can you sing Te Amo. So he sang a bit. Then at the end he and Kevin both said, “Muchos besos!” ^^

UNITS

Somewhere in the middle they broke out into units, doing Should Have Treated You Better, More Painful Than Pain, and Obsession. When they were done AJ was trying to get the fans to scream the loudest for their favorite. Soohyun and Hoon were at opposite sides of the stage from each other and Soohyun caught Hoon’s eye and gave him an enthusiastic thumbs-up and nodded vigorously and Hoon gave him a thumbs-up back. First AJ said uBeat, then More Painful than Pain, and last Obsession. Obsession got the loudest cheer. Kevin said, “That’s not fair, why did you put Obsession last?” and AJ said, “Because it’s the best!”

SUPER FAN

WOW okay fan service. The girl came up and sat down on a chair and they sang Mysterious Lady to her. Soohyun sat on the floor and put his head on her lap. Hoon kept putting his arms around her. He also draped a leg across her lap. AJ sat in her chair and patted his leg like Come on, come sit! It was so, so cute, god. We screamed a lot. I was so happy for that fan. Kevin asked who her favorite member was and she said Eli. Eli went up to give her a hug and one of the Koreans (but I can’t remember which one) gave Kevin a hug and said, “It’s okay, Kevin!” lol

RANDOM OTHER THINGS THAT HAPPENED

KISEOP: I was sad that I didn’t get a look at Kiseop when I was right next to him, because I was supposed to specifically look and see if he is was pretty in real life. But when he was on stage I paid attention. I thought he looks just like he does in photos. Beautiful, of course. I thought his mouth looked endearingly pouty. And he has this way of looking distant when they were performing. I feel like he didn’t smile much, but looking back at the pictures my sister took he did smile a bunch. So I was probably just distracted by everyone else. Also, I’d just like to mention that Kiseop has beautiful lips. I’d say they're the second prettiest lips I’ve ever seen. (First place goes to Tao in EXO, sorry.) Speaking of ‘sorry’, there were a couple of times during the night where Kiseop would do something and then apparently think he was messing something up because then he’d go “Sorry!” and sort of duck down and look slightly embarrassed. One time it was because he started beat-boxing for AJ and AJ and a couple other looked over at him in this vaguely bemused kind of way. Haha, poor Kiseop! Don't worry baby, you're doing fine!

SOOHYUN: At one point I remember him and Hoon enthusiastically hugging for some reason. Also for some reason at one point he started singing “What da fox say!!” and just started spinning across the stage, lol.

HOON: At one point for some reason he sort of jumped on Kiseop and backhugged him and all the fans started screaming. Also I remember him pirouetting across the stage.

AJ: I just keep being struck by how awesome he is. He’s so good at everything and he’s so dang personable and friendly. And he is suuuch a ham. He was always reaching down into the crowd or getting us all worked up. He definitely keeps the fans feeling involved.

ELI: No one should. Ever. Tell him he needs to lose weight. He is gorgeous. It was so awesome seeing him live. Lately he’s become my favorite rapper. Aaaand sadly, that’s about all I have for him. He mostly stayed on the opposite side of the stage from where I was, so I didn’t see much of him. :(  I do remember that the way he read off his cue cards made me think of the Pops in Seoul days, haha.

THE END

At the end they were all thanking everyone and so forth and Kevin… I suppose I don't need to mention it because everyone else already has, but seriously, it gets me so much. He started saying thanks and it meant a lot to be in the US, and then he just stopped and put his head down. Then he tried a couple more words and nope, he had to try to compose himself again. He finally managed to keep going but I could see a tear streaking down his face. It was so precious, gosh. Kevin. Let me hug you my beautiful baby.

And then Hoon. He said a bunch of stuff in Korean and Kevin didn’t translate immediately so he waved his arm like well, go ahead… Then Kevin translated part and Hoon said some more stuff and Kevin said “He says we'll do our best and-“ he got this sort of awkward amused face “-and work our butts off.” And someone behind me commented, “Nope, Hoon said ‘’.” Lol.

So yeah. Wow. It was really wonderful and so, so fun. Best concert I’ve ever been to. I hope they hurry up and come back to the US so I can go again.

And I still can’t get over the fact that sweet beautiful 800,000 followers on twitter famous everyone loves him Kevin. Touched me. Just. It’s so insignificant I suppose, especially to him, but it’s just amazing that he was so close to me. Yep, he’s 4 and a half years younger than me aaand I’m freaking out about it. It’s hard being a pedonoona k-pop fan and no one understands~

And to anybody that wanted to go but couldn’t, let me tell you: the downside of seeing them in person is that you spend the next several days agonizing about how you could have done stuff differently so you could see/touch them more, or what you should have said to them, and you're so sad that you didn’t get any more time with them… it’s unrequited love, really. Being a fan can be so painful. ;_; So that’s the downside of having gone. The more you see them, the more you want to see them, but you can’t really because you're just a fan.

But U-KISS is really great. I can never stop wondering how much of what they say and do is because they mean it, and how much is because management told them to. But they are just always so sweet and thankful toward the fans and it is so cute. You can tell that whether or not they're exaggerating, they definitely do care.

Wow so lucky!! I'm happy for you ~ ahh I haven't had the chance to see them in person yet no matter how many times they've performed in the Philippines...sadly that's because I was always out of the country when they came :( Thank you for sharing! I really wish I'd get to go to their concerts in the future!! Aww don't fret, I understand the feeling of a pedonoona too *haha* cos when Dongho was still in the group, I would totally spazz over him during their Believe performances just cos I really find him too hot to resist during that time and come to think of it he's 2 years younger than me lol :)) My love for UKISS is just so much I can't even pick a bias :)) <3

All of them were so sweet at the concert! Kevin especially grabbed my heart because he just seemed so genuine and everything. Wish I got vip tickets instead of seating if I knew about the perks :( Hopefully, they'll come back to NYC
