Resolution For 2014

As 2014 arrived, I've decided to post my New Year Resolution here! Because I feel that writing here has slowly but surely becomes a part of my life. It's something I enjoy doing in my free time, a platform to release my stress and to let my imagination runs. Therefore, writing here is part of my resolutions in 2014.

I'm a competitive perfectionist who often expects alot from myself. I set high targets and sometimes (or most of the time), I do fall short of my own expectations. However, I believe in 'shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you'll land among the stars' much more than 'expectation leads to disappointment'.

Over the years,  I think I've grown out of the pessimism I used to have. It's still within me but the person I am now considers the positive outcome first before everything. The optimist sees opportunity in every danger while the pessimist sees danger in every opportunity. As quoted from Nicholas Murray Butler, "Optimism is essencial to achievement and it is also the foundation of courage and of true progress". If you expect the worst, the worst will happen. You are your own stress, your own anger, your own sadness, your own frustration. If you let things bother you, they will. So don't let them. Nothing in life is easy, so always make the best out of it.

I always think that no one will ever know me more than myself. Ironically, I always doubt myself. I choose to put my trust in others before making the decisions. Sometimes, I feel that I might be right but because of other people or should I say people whom I really trust, I change my opinions. That is why, in a new year, I want to become someone whom I can truly and fully believe in.

I've never been a risk-taker and this is something I'm most uncertain if I can ever become someone who's dauntless enough to embrace the world of unknowns. If you're afraid to make mistakes, you've already made one. I'm starting to believe that everything you want is in fact on the other side of fears. Let your dreams be bigger than your fears, your actions louder than your words, and your faith stronger than your feelings. Ambition is believing in yourself even when no one else in the world does.

Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you believe that you too can achieve great things. Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground.

Lastly, a journey of thousand miles must begin with a single step. Don't be afraid to change yourself, don't be afraid of becoming a dreamer, don't be afraid to aim for perfection and don't be afraid to create yourself.  Let's all become a better person in the new year.

1. Achieve good grades in school

  • Devote more time in studying
  • Complete assignments diligently
  • Question when in doubt
  • Follow study and revision plans strictly

2. Be Healthy

  • Eat healthy - less fast food, less fried food, more fruits and veggies
  • Exercise more - run at least twice a week, gym once a week
  • Sleep before 12

3. Do not lose temper easily

  • Be patient with everything and everyone
  • Be strict with yourself but least reproachful of others and complaint is kept afar

I always like how you are never afraid of expressing yourself (: you never fail to inspire me. even tho we are not real life friends but it feels that you are close. Maybe it is how you express yourself so carefreely, that is why I find you very real. And I agree, everyone just got to believe in themselves a little more. I wish you the best in 2014 too and hope we will all reach all our targets. Fighting!!
